The best GT5 cars according to stormbringer!

I know there's no point in having this car, but I got it from a trade: Ferrari F2007
It would be the #1 car on the list, no doubt. Just thought I would tell, 'cause I have seen people saying that the FGT is faster, but it's not. 6 second difference on Monza and the FGT had skid on.
EDIT: 52.133 without skid. Niiiice

Just saw your >600bhp list. I'd say that you should remove the Amuse S2000. It has 598bhp when you buy it. Change oil and drive 150km and it's at 638 without moodifying. Just my opinion :)

Bentley: Not as fast as MINOLTA at Indy (2 secs/lap) so far. Perhaps some tuning would do the trick. It looks great though.

Ok, i just drove it again for a bit. Tried your setup as well.
....
I will remove it from the bad buy list. She is dirt cheap. and youd end up paying 3 to 4 times more modding an integra RM. I agree, Good car for the money 👍
Would i choose this car in a race over the RM? probably not.

Wow thanks for your good and thorough follow-up testing, I think your methodology is much more accurate than my Nordschleife test laps (many more corners for me to be inconsistent especially there's no way I would be 300ms accurate lap to lap), you bring up good points though and I think I will do the RM and mods to my stock Integra now knowing it will beat this on speed and handling (though not on bang/buck which was the main reason I was originally surprised to see it on your bad buys list)

For me FF cars like this will always have a performance penalty due to not being able to get on the gas as hard mid-corner because of understeer tendencies, and I can only dial it out so much in the setup without turning on TC, but I definitely like to have one or two decent FF cars available in the garage because driving them on the edge reminds me of my 1990 Civic Si that I owned and loved for many years.

Thanks again for revisiting it, looking forward to hearing how that Ford Mark IV does against the 330P4 which I currently own, and I plan to save up for the Mark IV someday if it's worth it.

Nice. When i get my first ferrari F1 im gonna sit and stare at it for a fewhours.
not that i cant do that in the dealership view, its just gonna be special knowing that its mine, lol.
Ive read those "slower than fgt posts" before. that really shouldnt be. And im happy to hear it isnt. F1 without skid... very brave. i wouldnt be able to.

638 without mods? mines was at 610 with mods, probably really needs an oil change. All my hp figures are from after modding. So @ 610hp (when tested) she is in the right place.

The F2007 is a GRIP MONSTER. Had traction control though, but kick a**. Almost as easy to drive as the X1 - big words, but true.

EDIT: Just saw it was >600, and not <600, sorry about that :)

Im sure youll love the Civic RM since u owned one. Kinda makes the car a bit more special.

i think you can buy the mark IV is for 20million. not worth it ofcourse. Birthday cheat/trade/duplicate= worth it.

Cheers for putting this post up, I have a quick glance at it once in a while when I fancy a change but want something new and interesting.
Left to my own devices I tend to go for a really light MR or FR, I must confess i have 8 Elises and 5 Evoras in various stages of tuning.

So thank you for making me broaden my choice of cars.

If you have some credits laying around, might I suggest looking into the Art Morrison Corvette '60? I find it a lot of fun, and it's great for drifting. I'd be curious to see where it would end up on your list :)

And I saw the Ford GT Spec II Test Car on the track the other day, but have never seen one in the UCD. Have you or anyone else seen one, or is it some kind of prize-only car?

Just saw the Zonda LM Race Car in the UCD, so might pick it up. I do have the Zonda R, but the LM sounds like a good race car :)

no prob 👍

I'll add the vette to my shopping list
The GT test car costs about 2mil in the new car dealership, from one of the tuning companies. cant remember which company.

I really liked the zonda LM. Been taking her to nordschliefe and im not scared at all. well, maybe a little scared.

The Ford GT Spec II Test Car is a premium car available anytime in the Gran Turismo Dealership for $3.6Mcr, kind of pricy for me so far which is why I haven't picked it up despite owning and loving the standard Ford GT LM car.

Actually I own all the LM cars except the FTO and Camaro (still looking for those 2) and all of them are uniquely fun, but the Zonda LM is easily the fastest/wildest and the Ford GT LM is one of the best combining power and handling, both are favorites and recommended buys from me.

I'm planning to pick up the premium Ford GT LM Test II as soon as I have the money to spare, once I track down the last two remaining LM models and the last 2 DTM models I still need.

it will be interesting to see how the test car compares to the LM spec 2.
I hope its better in some way, would be pissed off about spending all that money if it isnt.

Hehe yeah exactly the reason I still haven't pulled the trigger on it too, seems expensive compared to the standard LM version which is already great, especially after I recently broke the bank buying the Sauber C9, currently doing some grinding on the Nordschleife DTM (relatively fun compared to some of the other grind options) to get the bank back up to where I have discretionary funds to spend on the test car, according to the specs it seems to have less power and heavier:

Ford GT LM Race Car Spec II Lvl 22 2,410,038 Cr S MR 629 HP 1130 kg
Ford GT LM Spec II Test Car Lvl 22 3,600,000 Cr P MR 601 HP 1165 kg

I get the feeling its gonna be dissapointing, much like the ferrari SP1

Yeah when I searched the forums for info on it I didn't find much outside of trade offers, still I will eventually buy it for the Premium cockpit when I want more immersion in the LM races :-)

BTW if you are still looking for a Nardo to test but not own, I can let you borrow mine as I finally found it in the UCD (another reason my bank is broke), if you don't mind testing it and sending it back, let me know.

Cool I added you and will send it over as soon as you accept PSN: Kludger, I haven't even had a chance to do any testing with it since I am too busy having fun with my LM and DTM cars.

PS. lookout for the '93 Alfa 155 Touring car, she is a sweet one, fast and loose like the Zonda LM, and my current favorite DTM compared to the Astra, A4, TT-R., Calibra...

I'm guessing the Ford Test Car may actually be faster, despite the weight and HP deficit. When I run the Like The Wind B-Spec, there are usually all 3 Ford GT's on the track and the Test Car routinely comes in ahead of the others. But like the rest, I'm not sure I want to spend all the money on a slightly better GT than the Spec II LM that I already have.

you shouldnt really use Bspec to judge a car especially if they are as closely related as the 2 ford GTs.

The only way to figure out which one is worth buying is a test drive comparison. Time will tell.

That's easy: all of them. I have every Ford GT and love them all for disparate reasons. Each is a fun ride and not (too) expensive. Of course, I have money to spare since the only other cars I collect are 80's Japanese cars like the Sprinter.

If you wanted to show which of the top racing cars (Suaber C9, MINOLTA etc) really is the best then you should take them to La Sarthe. Deep Forest isn't the track for testing these, as they will all be equal (or atleast within a second). Just an idea, instead of them all being favorite cars. On this track they would be tested in terms of speed, handling and acceleration.

My guess is that the Audi R8 Team Oreca, Toyota MINOLTA, Sauber and the R89C are the fastest, only got two of those cars however.. 👎 Guess I'd better go and do some grinding some time, while waiting for the Nardo (20 days without finding it now, I think).

I was disappointed with the GT Test Car. I haven't driven the standard RC yet but the Test Car seemed very slippery in the corners on racing softs, almost like a McLaren F1. A tune could take care of some of the problem but not all of it.

8-Shelby Cobra 427'66 (not worth moding at all. BAD braking. prize car in Bspec amateur muscle car)

Bad car? Lol, it's one of the most fun cars to drive on the game. A real challenge, but that's the point! I noticed all of your favourites are either 4wd or grip monsters. Good to know you are playing for the challenge.

Not everyone considers struggling against a cars performance to be fun or a marker of what makes a car good.

Yeah we all may use different tracks for testing and have different preferences when it comes to the handling (I like an oversteering car), but because of the consistent testing methodology and limited tuning I think his ranking and results are still very useful in comparison from car to car.

It's a good point that the cars with lots of top speed may lose out in this comparison, but in my experience those cars are not very fun to drive outside SSR7 drag racing or top speed runs (tank car, veyron, Option Stream Z), but even for these care he calls out that they are top speed focused in the review as well.

Thats a good idea. i could take 5 cars from the faster categories and give em another test. Which track do u think would be the best choice. Sarthe is one. i can think of 4 others. All of which allow for high speed

Sarthe - A bit long. 4 min lap time average i think.
tokyo -
monza - im leaning towards this one.
Fuji Speedway
high speed ring - shortest track.

There was that daytona track as well, not the nascar neverending circle one. i cant remember the name, that one would be good one too

Monza, great high velocity track and some tight turns to make it funnier.

thanks for the car, and the comparisons. i got a little inspired by this and built up some cars to compare. just running laps on the top gear track after equal mods. M3 was fastest, although the benz was much more fun to drive.

Sarthe is ~3.15.000 with the fastest cars and is pretty good, as that is the track these cars were built to race on. Very good technical turns on the track along with alot of long-straights, showing the true personality of the car IMO.
With skid on (don't know if you still have) you should be able to get near to 3.06 maybe. I have done 3.14.xxx with MINOLTA and 3.16.xxx with Bentley (not fast enough on straights, good handling though).

nice. yeah after i buy a new car i'll do the oil change and throw on some racing softs and go straight to trial mountain to do some hot laps. I just wish the leaderboard was longer! and that i could delete laps individually ( the fgt takes up the first 3 spots)

but yeah i think i have more fun comparing stock vs stock cars. after you mod them all the times are invalid.. a supra tt is gonna make more power after simple mods than say a M5 or something already high strung.

anyways yeah i drive the M3 and C63 quite a bit, the m3 behaves itself much better on the track... but he c63 cant help but make you smile with its waggy tail end.
