The best GT5 cars according to stormbringer!

Yeah that's why I had to stick to road cars and the Euro championship has three courses I like (I used to hate Monza too) I'm trying to find ways to implement NA and Asian cars into it using other cups but could only find the odd race with the same reward.

Group 7 - Toyota 7 Race Car
Group C - Jaguar XJR-9, MINOLTA Toyota, Sauber C9, Nissan R89C, Mazda 787B, Nissan R92CP, Peugeot 905
GT1 - Nissan R390 GT1, Mercedes CLK-GTR Race Car, Lister Storm V12, Corvette C5.R, Dodge Viper GTS-R Team ORECA (I think)
LMGTP - Toyota GT-ONE, Bentley Speed 8
LMP - BMW V12 LMR, Audi R8, Audi R8 Team Playstation ORECA, Pescarolo Courage C60, Pescarolo Judd GV5, Pescarolo Hybride C60, Audi R10, Peugeot 908

I feel like I've missed something

Group C, LMP and that LMPGTP are all on same level or at least close (except for Audi R10). I'm not a Le Mans expert, so can't say whether the classes of the cars are right :)

Thing is that I've hit a wall in the game. There's no more A-spec events for me to do, so there's no more ways to earn credits without doing that US Indy race, which is the fastest way. Got 5.5 mil cr. and one car means that I'm almost completely broke and will have to do the painful grinding :( Probably won't create anyway because of my moral.. damn that moral :grumpy: Need someone to do it for me, that would also prevent me from having to create a new account.

Why test the X2010, everyone know it's the fastest...

It is currently on his Interesting/Requested Cars list:

Bombe - I can't believe I missed them two. Especially the 908 because it's one of my favourites :) Like you said, the 3 classes are very similar in performance. The R390 is a little bit closer to them than it was in GT4 but not competitive

Sure, why not?

1 minute or more on La Sarthe... Probably 15 seconds on Deep Forest compared to the FGT, meaning a lap time 0.40.xxx or something like that.

Ran a bad 2.20.xxx on La Sarthe with Ds3, can probably be done in 2.05 or so :)

Not that bad, you can measly sweep off a couple of secs off.

Especially with my wheel, but I have nowhere to put it at the moment. Have golded the Vettel Challenges, so it's not because I haven't got experience driving that thing, it was a nightmare to beat those gold times.

Peugeot 205
BMW M3 GTR (a must on the list)
Oullim Motorsports Spirra

Interesting cars to see on list too. The Spirra has some serious handling issues, but with skid on I think it'll do decent. Got a few of the cars you have on your "shopping list", so if you have something of equal value we could probably make a deal of some kind :)

15-Audi R8 LMS

I think this will come pretty far down the list, round about the top 60. When I tried it it handled well but didn't have great speed

It will certainly not, I've done a 1.10.1xx in it completely stock. Stormbringer will max tune it, use skid and drive a lap faster than me. It'll probably go a 1.06 or 1.07 - top 35 imo.

First off, awesome job doing all of this.

Second, and what I really wanna say: what a ****ing piece of **** track!

I took my F1 '94, expecting to beat your time because of how much time I spent with it on other tracks, but holy ****, this has got to be my number one WORST track in GT5.
At absolutely NO time is the car driving with all 4 wheels. There is such a big elevation difference all around the track, that when driving from corner to corner, the car insists on jumping all over the place, never being grounded with all 4 wheels to do the driving.
How the hell do you manage not to kill yourself over this track!? It's impossible to do a decent lap on this! :scared:

After no more than 10 laps, perhaps 5 without crashing, I'm giving up on this.
My final result is 1:08.761, which 0.798 seconds slower than you.
I wanna to improve on my time with the F1, but I can't stand the track.
A track I really like, where I'm doing my own car comparisons, is Nür GP/D.
An even track, with lots of space to improve yourself on.
So far on that track, my record with the McLaren F1 is 1:22.773.
If you've got the curiosity and got the time, try it out! And let me know how fast you can lap it :)

mr. stormbringer sir,

you have a shiny new BWM LMP in your inbox bro

i can't wait to see the result, like I said, a managed 1:10 on hard tires, no tune, DS3, and **** **** **** driving

I actually used the Spirra on one of the rally special events. It was fun to drive, especially with the tail kicking out now and then :)

you know, testing 10 of the same classed cars (one after the other), looking for their qualities and faults etc has been a thoroughly enjoyable and a great learning experience. Everyone should do this.

Im looking forward to the next round. Going to take 10 LM racers to another track next.

Cool I'm looking forward to seeing what your results are like, I finally found the last of the LM cars and so was able to complete my own testing of the LM cars on the Nordschleife and found a couple of surprises compared to how the LM cars seem to rank and finish in my usual Series B DreamCar Championship farm/grind sessions, here's my results of the LM cars at Nords with no mods, (just brake/suspension adjustments to make the cars oversteer more to my liking) G27, no aids except ABS=1:
nordslmtest110107800600.jpg

A couple of things surprised me:
  • The Camaro LM did much better than I expected
  • The Fairlady Z LM that you get as a prize from one of the events is actually a very nice handling car and much better than the similar looking 350Z LM
  • I really enjoy driving the RX7 LM despite the low ranking and the ugly green color that we're stuck using, I wish we could paint it to the colors the AI gets to use it with in the DreamCar events, especially the dark blue.
  • The FTO LM turned out to do much worse than I expected (last on this list, and after searching the UCD for this car for over a week), I suspect she still has 5-10secs improvement to be had but due to the 4WD, even after multiple runs I just haven't found my comfort/confidence with her yet.
  • The NSX LM really felt great and like it had a faster run, but even after multiple runs it was in the middle of the pack (probably due to my crap driving skills)
  • There are 2 other LM cars that are slower and fell off the track records list (hope for better record features in a future patch), the 350Z Concept LM Race Car (due to poorer handling, maybe good with some tuning) and Honda S2000 LM Race Car (due to less power, 382HP max modded so will always be last)
  • Someday when I can afford it I will buy the premium Ford GT LM Test car to fit into this list (I think that is the only LM I haven't tried)

In the end after this short test all the LM cars have very unique and special handling and they are probably my favorite set of all the cars I've collected so far, working on collecting and hoping to do similar testing for the DTM and JSCGT cars too.

Look forward to comparing to your more thorough/consistent results of the cars in this class too once you do max mods and skid.

You gonna test out the fastest race car? Redbull X2010? I already have one in my garage.

I would like to. But im scared of the vettel challenge. Its too challenging!
If i can get my hands on one, i'll definitely test her

I have the Spirra, saw it was korean, ignored it. Will test it now that youve mentioned it. Need to get the other 2.

Sure lets see if we can work on a trade of some sort, which cars do u have and what would you be interested in?

The only real problematic area (jump) is one after the start line.
All really powerful roadcars take off there. The only way to minimize that is to brake a tiny bit right before the jump.

The other areas arnt so bad, they actually really help in gauging a cars grip.

I love deep forest, its one of my fave tracks. but am pretty sick of it as u can imagine.

I'll check out Nur GP/D. If it seems like a promising track, i might choose it for future testing.

Oh cheers man 👍, i will check it out as soon as i get home from work.
Will be able to return it on monday. thanks! :)

Nice. First of all, i dont think lap times for Nurburgring are going to be very reliable, just because of its length and highly technical nature. But that is probably the best track to gauge a cars grip/handling limits. I test all my favourite cars there but i know my lap times arnt very accurate or precise (Need much more skill) I like your times btw. I think ive managed a 6:32 with my fto. thats the only stat i remember right now.

I love the FTO, that 4WD makes her awesome. Shes probably one of the few cars i feel 100% confident in driving (dont need any aids with her). very light and agile. Will out accelerate most cars up to 650hp in a grid start.
alas....top speed is her achilles heel.

That Zonda LM is beaut, isnt she?

NSX LM is a great car. More power than the JGTC NSXs but handles a little bit worse.

I thought the 350Z LM concept was great in deepforest. The LM test im planning should give me a better understanding.

I need to get the Camaro and the fairlady, rx 7 and 8 lm, am on the look out.

The 205 don't have to be the Rally Car, would like to see how the road car does compared to the other cars :)

As soon as I get my NSX-R LM Proto I have collected all the supercars (I think) and is ready to see how good they are. My testing will be on Trial Mountain (primarily) , Monaco and (maybe) Nordschelife. All cars should be as close to 600bhp as possible (meaning those who have more as stock will be stock) and no skid, so probably different results than what you are getting :)

Yeah I love the Zonda LM it feels like a LMP or Group C car in LM clothing :-)

For me the Nordschleife is my favorite track and what I drive 80% of the time, so I am able to get pretty consistent laps on it (+- 5 sec), where my testing is not as accurate to what you guys have been doing is I don't do a ton of laps on each car to find the absolute limit of each one (and I don't mod them either), so most likely my comparison times can include some factor of where either my driving style doesn't complement the car well, and/or where that results in a lack of confidence in the handling and I am not pushing the car as far as it can go, that is probably what is going on with the FTO.

The 4WD cars like the FTO in GT5 have handling that usually feels weird to me with no aids, and I've usually had to tune the TSD/LSD to make it feel less weird (except the Audi R8 5.2 which was awesome and great feeling from the get go).

Anyhow looking at my garage I noticed I had collected 1 more LM car that I hadn't yet included in the test, the XJ220 LM Race Car, I'll do some testing when I get a chance to see where it fits in on my force ranking, from what I remember of it when I first bought it I suspect it will be toward the top (great handling).

Look forward to seeing what you guys find in your more consistent/modded testing...

PS. I'd let you borrow you some of your missing LM cars but I want to keep them unmodded to keep the AI races exciting.

I suggest Suzuka. It's where I do all my testing. It has everything except a straight long enough to max your speed, though the one before 130R is almost long enough. To me, there isn't really a better racing circuit in the game. Too many other tracks are too bumpy, wide open, off camber, or just slow street tracks with walls and cobblestones. Give it a try and see what you think.

Also storm if you want to add psn Barkode I can send you some cars. I have stuff like RS200 and other semi rare UCD cars as well as some stuff on your yet to test list. I can just gift you one every day or two since I rarely need the slot for trading.

Group 7 - Toyota 7 Race Car
Group C - Jaguar XJR-9, MINOLTA Toyota, Sauber C9, Nissan R89C, Mazda 787B, Nissan R92CP, Peugeot 905
GT1 - Nissan R390 GT1, Mercedes CLK-GTR Race Car, Lister Storm V12, Corvette C5.R, Dodge Viper GTS-R Team ORECA (I think)
LMGTP - Toyota GT-ONE, Bentley Speed 8
LMP - BMW V12 LMR, Audi R8, Audi R8 Team Playstation ORECA, Pescarolo Courage C60, Pescarolo Judd GV5, Pescarolo Hybride C60

thanks for the info.

Ive got a NSX-R Prototype. You can borrow it for testing if you like.
I use it once in a while, but do really like it. Its a great car.
If uve figured out how to dupe, u could make a copy easy, im sure.
Im gonna look up this duplicating cheat. If its not too much of a hassle, i just might do it.

Thats exactly what i think of the Zonda LM. Amazing car, i love driving it.

The XJ220, man if it wasnt for its slowish acceleration she'd be awesome. Handling mucho grande!

was going over tracks again today, trying to find a good one for LM cars.

Duping is simple, but I don't really want to, just feel that life would be so much easier. That said, just got myself the Sauber C9 (2 mins ago) for a McLaren F1, good trades I'm doing :)

To dupe you just have to have another account, basically, and a USB (flash drive, call it whatever you want) and then delete save file after you sent something and replace it with the file as it was before you sent. There are some good guides.

I can get the NSX-R when it shows up, it's nothing more than 500k if I remember.

Duping is the reason that people are more likely to lend something out. Those who loan just dupe it and send it back, or the other guy just send and dupe it himself. No lose-situations, which is good in many ways.

that sounds easy enough. I think im gonna go for it.
wonder if theres any danger of messing it up somehow.

Honestly, the best car in gt5 is Alfa Romeo Guilia Carrotazzo

Cant say ive seen or heard of it before. Ill look out for it.

awesome lap time in the BWM.

do you have any advice on driving it?

Advice, i really cant think of any. shes a great, easy to drive LMP. you should have no problems with her.

I think shes one of the best. Steering is very responsive. Initially i was expecting a sauber like performance, but shes a little bit slower. holds the driving line really well. Had a blast running her through Sarthe. Really good handling. brakes well.
