The best GT5 cars according to stormbringer!

have you done any laps in the tank car? man, that car is massive! and shocking. if you really want a challenge, try to lap consistently quick with comfort hards :P

yup, its the last car in the deepforest test.
I dont think itll lap anything "quick"

thanks for the offer, but I recently got myself one.
Just waiting for trades to end, so i can transfer cars to my main account for testing.
Will have it up on the board asap.

Nevermind. Saw you did the Speed 12. I was able to get a bit faster then you by about two seconds on deep forest though. Would put the car into 20th place on your list. Definately the most amazing and fun car in my garage to drive, needs medium tires on the back and a really good tune for it though.

PS. I REALLLY dont know whats up with you having it rated at only 9 for acceleration compared to the other higher cars. It accelerates faster then all of the LMP and group C cars and smokes the Veyron, it should be a 13 or a 12 at least.

To me the tvr, veyron, gillet are more stress than driving pleasure. I did rate the tvr at 10 for acc (not 9). Will adjust the ratings for both the veyron and tvr since you are 100% correct: they both will out accelerate most LMPs. (plus her w/p ratio is better than the veyrons)

The inconsistencies in ratings really arise from testing cars on separate days and batches. Had i tested the veyron, spd 12 and some LMPs side by side i wouldve been able to give em more accurate #s.

As far as lap times are concerned, they are all relative. Im sure you are a much better driver than i. Your, or anyone elses lap times will be somewhat different based on our individual techniques.

I know exactly what you mean in the fact that they are hard and stressful to drive because they dont brake and turn at all haha! They have massive acceleration horrible handling and are very hard to drive. I use racing mediums on the back so I can get the back end out a little bit easier and helps a bit with driving it.

not yet man, I have to transfer it from my other account to my main where all my modded cars are. Going to test her along side the other LMPs i have so i can get a better feel. Sorry to keep you waiting.

Bentley Speed 8
Jaguar XJR-9

Ok heres what i thought of the bentley.

Its a decent car. Produces over 100Kgfm of torque at just 4000RPM and redlines at just 6000 👎

Throttle sensitive like the R10, (which has more torque at an even lower RPM: 120kgfm @ 3500rpm, redline at 6500). need to be careful when coming out of corners. Steerings a bit more responsive than the R10. The 6000 rpm redline makes for very hectic gear changes. Usually, after a few laps, i can hear when i need to change gears. With the bentley it was very elusive. I had to keep glancing at the RPM to make sure i wasnt stretching the gears all the time.

personally, i didnt like it too much. Probably wont choose it to race.

If you like the R10, you will like this car. It is comparatively easier to control and is definitely faster.

Will do a sarthe test on it as soon as i can get all the newly acquired LMPs into 1 account.

Nice to see the updates continue Stormbringer, curious to hear if your car preferences have changed any now that you are driving with a wheel compared to with the controller before?

I've always used the G27 with all aids off except ABS=1, and the main difference I've noticed compared to your rankings is a lot of the AWD/4WD cars tend to understeer for me, so not usually my favorites without a lot of drivetrain/susp tweaks, whereas they usually rank well with you.

I was hoping to hear if that was down to the use of wheel-vs-controller, or no aids vs anti-skid, or just personal preference (I tend to like oversteer more than understeer)

Man it was weird going back to the controller. Took me almost an hour to get back into controller mode. but i had to do it to keep the results valid and consistent.

i still find 4WD cars are the easiest to drive and control (wheel or controller, aids on or off) ya, they have that understeer tendency which needs to be compensated.
Torque distribution and a tiny bit of love with the throttle usually minimizes understeer in my 4wds. Personal preference really.

With the wheel i dont feel the need to use aids, unless im driving a very high hp/torque rwd car. i do prefer some oversteer too. helps my cornering at times.
Understeer makes me a bit edgy and less confident. but there are plenty of turns where i like a little bit of understeer aswell. usually u turns where i try to slide/point the nose at the exit as soon as i enter/stop braking. The first underpass in deepforest is one of the turns where i purposely try to induce some understeer.

Yeah it must be my driving style then that doesn't suit the 4WD as much.

BTW I have another car I think is not on your list I came across that is worth checking out: 2000 Ford Falcon XR8

It seems to lap in the same lap times as most of the LM cars (slower than the Zonda LM but faster than the NSX-R LM for me).

I hadn't heard much about it before until I saw it in the UCD in the $1.2M range, took a chance on it and it has decent handling and just suffers a bit on acceleration getting to top speed like some of the other LM cars.

Hey man great list! The Mazda rx-8 is a very good car for the price. Might be only level 3 or something around that, but ith all the work in it I can win races in expert series.

i wonder how have u tuned up those group B monsters...its performing worse with me, and i do think there should be loads more potential with them!! otherwise walter rohrl or henri toivonen wont be happy with PD :D

Ford falcon XR-8, yet to come across it in the game. Is it a rally car?

Ive recently acquired the Mazda RX8 LM and RX7 LM. Will do tests on it. It might be interesting to see how a regular RX8 modded will perform. Might get one eventually. what kinda stats (weight, power) does the RX8 modded reach?

those are the rally cars, right? MAJOR adjustments to stiffen up the suspension. They are way too floaty on asphalt when untuned. I think ive only tested a couple so far.

i wonder where bombe is, havent heard from you in sometime :)

this is a V8 championship car. seen it once or twice, but always partnered with other things i want more....so never bought it. it weighs about 1350kg, but my previous watching experience on those aussie V8 supercars was that...they can turn pretty well with an extremely limited amount of downforce if the driver was up to the standard. if not...then u see cars flipping over all the time.

as for the Group B rally cars, yes that was what i felt. but the same stiffness with other cars seemingly applies softer on them...racing softs hardly solve the problem either. sigh. maybe on track with a lot of downhill hairpin corners like akina in initial D they can keep up with those le mans/FIA GT sportscars? they have monstrous 0-100 mph acceleration, and cannot really go above that. i wish they could keep the Seattle track then...

I am here, but not much is happening atm. Haven't been driving that much lately, just been looking at my wheel wishing I had a spot for it :)

That Ford Falcon - I have yet to see it after 1100 in-game days, one of the cars I've been looking for for some time now, along with the Jag XJR-9 it's most wanted.

Btw, now that I'm here, just wanted to post my latest LMP/GC La Sarthe leaderbord. Round 2 improved some of the times dramatically, including the Bentley.

Toyota GT-One 3 12 585
Mercedes Sauber C9 3 13 450
Audi R8 LMP '01 3 13 772
Nissan R92CP 3 14 233
Toyota MINOLTA 3 14 272
Peugeot 908 3 14 516
Peugeot 905 3 14 607
Bentley Speed 8 3 14 637
Audi R8 Oreca '05 3 14 819
BMW V12.... 3 15 018
Nissan R89C 3 15 493
Mazda 787B......... 3 16 661
Pescarolo C60 Hybrid 3 17 629

nice one.

How would you compare the 908 vs the bentley?
no R10?
R89C vs R92CP? My tests always show the R89 on top. I wonder why this is the opposite in both your tests.

Im gonna give the toyota gt1 another shot after looking at your times.
i felt it shouldve done much better in my list, but it seemed like it lacked a little bit in cornering, hence my lower times. mightve been a bad lap.

Will send you a XJR-9 in a couple o days

Nope, I've got no R10, it's a hopeless car, really - I used to have one as I won it in my first level 21 ticket (winning extreme A-spec events) and got really excited about it, but once I tried it on Indy it was soo slow compared to the MINOLTA. Traded it for the F2007 if I remember right, so it wasn't so bad after all :D

The R89C is just ... all wrong, perhaps if you've got a masterpiece of a setup I would consider trying it again, I can't get it to perform - it feels slow and heavy compared to the others, but very stable!

The GT-ONE lap is a wonder-lap - nothing can come close to it, but as the Sauber's lap time have increased I rank it highest along with the R8 because of their handling which is a bit better. Have also done a GT-ONE vs Sauber on Nordschleife, the GT-ONE won the first round with a time of (I think, this is memory only) 5.47, the Sauber with 5.52.

908 vs Bentley... I think the 908 is faster - the Bentley is a bit hard to drive fast around the track, but the 908 I could do many laps under 1.15.

Let me know if you're are on the lookout for anything, I've got +10 mil credits thanks to seasonal events and absolutely no time to play (meaning no time to spend all that cash)! :)

Its a V8 Supercar which is a pretty badass Aussie spec series (especially when they run at Bathurst Mt. Panorama track), I sent you the car so you could check it out for yourself, enjoy (no need to send it back this time).

Will definitely do the GT1 again. R89C, i know my setup isnt great. But i will check it out again and see if i mightve just had a few good laps.

bentley vs 908, thats what i thought at first. Then i commented on some thread where people were saying the bentley is better. Had to see for myself, so took em both out to sarthe. I think the bentley might be a tad bit faster in acceleration. But in cornering i think the 908 definitely has the upper hand. The bentley reached almost the same exact top speed as the 908 (in the straight before the first chicane)

One thing i noticed this time around (missed it earlier) was the really high torque on the 908 (133kgfm at 4500rpm i think, audi R10: 120 @3500) I am confused why the 908 doesnt have that extreme throttle sensitivity that the R10 or bentley easily exhibit. maybe its my driving style. To me the 908 is one of the best driving LMPs.

No need to send me anything in return. I just enjoy sharing.
expect it tomorrow.

cool, thanks man. Will check it out. If u need any car from my collection, dont hesitate to ask :)

Am I the only one thinking that the XJR-9 is very slow compared to the other LMP/GC cars? It has very slow acceleration and so far it's doing 3.18-19 times on La Sarthe WITH turbo, can't believe it. I thought it would be competitive.. Well, time to do experiments with it - but thanks for the Jag anyway, Storm :)

Also got hold of one of your favorites, the Impreza Super Touring, can remember it being good in GT4 in terms of handling, so should be fun to run around city circuits in it.
