The best GT5 cars according to stormbringer!

I've tried the Deep Forest with some of my race cars.I had traction 1,srf on and abs 1.The testing was just 3 rounds and whatever happens :)The easiest car got first etc etc and that says a lot about the track but also the behavior of some of these race machines!

Audi R8 Oreca RC'05 1:00,333

Minolta---RC'89- 1:00,843

C60 hybride Judd'05 1:01,227

787 stealth model 1:01,588

Nissan R89C RC'89 1:01,964

Peugeot--908 HDI 1:02,079

Bentley--Speed 8 1:02,371

Cheers!!

Someone should make a list with all cars Stock and Tuned HP, I have a lot tuned to help out but I just wont be able to update the list often.

Nice to know which cars have alot of potential

EX, SL65 AMG - 996 HP, Lotus Carlton - 670~ HP, Lotus Esprit 700 HP, Silverado SST 988 HP

Am I the only one thinking that the XJR-9 is very slow compared to the other LMP/GC cars? It has very slow acceleration and so far it's doing 3.18-19 times on La Sarthe WITH turbo, can't believe it. I thought it would be competitive.. Well, time to do experiments with it - but thanks for the Jag anyway, Storm :)

Also got hold of one of your favorites, the Impreza Super Touring, can remember it being good in GT4 in terms of handling, so should be fun to run around city circuits in it.

I agree with u, the XJR-9 felt slow. not lmp like at all. suprising since its stats imply so, and i was expecting a better drive. The handling is also less responsive than any LMP (susp tweaks will probably make it alot better, i didnt spend any time on it, I did get a LMP like lap time with it in deepforest after a several laps or so)
If i remember right, Id say its more like the R390 GTi, but faster.

The impreza is nice. But i choose the FTO supertouring over it anyday even though it can be modded to >100hp more.

Edit: My bad, The Impreza max mod is just 30 to 40 hp more than the FTO

Kludger, the cool, sent me the ford XR8. I havent driven it yet. But i'll send u a copy once i transfer some more cars from that account. Help u complete your most wanted 👍

nice one.

Cant say that i disagree with any of your times. you should definitely try sarthe or fuji next. Deepforest is pretty inconclusive for the LMPs, as ive learnt. (not many places where the cars subjected to intense Gforces for long)

I dont like seeing that hybride beat the 908, lol :) Didnt like that car at all
(it did do the same in my Deepforest test too)

hey storm bro love what you do but i have a suggestion. Why dont you test cars on the top gear test track?

thanks man, Top gear test track would be awesome. I would love to, but its one of those tracks where accidental shortcuts are a bit of a problem (with a tough handling car its easy to mess up a good lap, makes it frustrating and relatively unreliable. had the same prob with sarthe in the beginning)

Lets see, if i decide to do another class based test i'll keep it in mind as a choice.

Nice one, I will get the SL65 and silverado after looking at your input.
maybe i'll get the lotus's. Appreciate the info.

if someone were to compile stock car info, id be willing to help out with max mod info. should prove to be a very useful and interesting table.

By the way i just got this Pescarolo GV5 which i saw that wasn't erased from your wish list yet,if you're still interested just pm me,cheers!

cool, thanks man. Will check it out. If u need any car from my collection, dont hesitate to ask :)

Cool, no worries for now, good to know you are a backup to ask in a couple of weeks if I never manage to find my two mythical unicorns, the Nissan GT390 road car and the Honda NSX LM roadcar, I saw the first one a couple of weeks ago and stupidly didn't buy it, and have never seen the second one.

Man, whatsup with the difference in handling online vs offline?
It really ticks me off. theres definitely a difference right? or is it just me?
I setup my car and get it perfect, only to go online and discover its all over the place :grumpy:

I'll send em both to you, should be able to this weekend or right after.

Thanks! I'll touch base with you then in case I find them.

BTW it's not just you, there is definitely a difference online, feels like the tire temp starts out cold or something, the back end is much looser especially on race cars.

I like the better tire modelling but I wish PD had kept offline and online consistent as it really messes up working on setups and practice.

I agree with the Veyron being awful :L and my favourite cars (for now) are the Minolta Toyota 88c-v race car and my fully tuned 458 italia :) Im only level 22 a-spec and 14 b-spec, so havn't got too many of the really great cars ;)

idk why PD would do that. It drives me crazy. The setups i do when online, mess up my offline drives. i keep having to go back and forth tuning my cars, wasting time. just frustrating :grumpy:

save ur cash, get the sauber from the online store. you'll enjoy it.
And try out the amuse S2000 GTi if u havent already. that cars a blast too.

honestly the handling difference online is so miniscule it shouldnt affect your driving or tuning set ups in any way. you have to tune it offline and then take it online and you'll just get used to how it drives, you have to do a fast lap to get your tires heated up online which you dont offline which is probably whats causing you to mess up, tires being cold means tires not gripping.

and another thing about online is if you just burn your tires hard right away it will make them messed up too

I wish i felt it was minuscule. to me there is a big difference. My cars seem alot more tail happy, and the physics (gravity) effect online definitely feels exaggerated.

you guys feel its only the tires? will keep that in mind next time.

by itself i dont mind online, why they made online different from offline pisses me off.
why, PD?

whatever, i guess we have to live with it. its just one of the things i dont like about the game. was just pissed off yesterday at my performance, and had to vent.

the reason its different because it has to support up to 16 cars and if the tires were like offine it would be awesome

it is definantly caused by the tires, they dont have as much grip and wear out pretty fast.
For example I was skidding on the nurburgring with my 4.2l r8 and after half a lap my tires were completly burnt out and smoke wouldnt stop forming
btw the R8 is a great car one of my mates has one in real life and a 997 after he won the lotto(lol lucky bastard) and thanks again for the 787b

Regarding the difference between practice and online car handling I found it very noticeable in my Arta NSX. Here is my take on it.

Practice mode (offline) does not have tyre wear grip degradation or fuel consumption but does have engine break in effects so the power of the car could be rising or falling lap to lap.

Online lobby in free run has no engine break in effects (constant power) but the tyres do wear out and the fuel runs out. At Laguna the tyres were optimum on lap 3 and 4 (racing soft). Handling wise the rear is much looser. Lap time about 0.5-1 sec slower. This is only speculation from me but I think the looser rear is not to do with tyres but the fuel. For offline the fuel does not run out so maybe its weight is not added to the car here? It is effectively empty tank always but the gauge stays as full. Maybe a drag test would prove this.

If you want constant performance for gauging lap times you are torn between constant grip after tyres warm up but variable power for offline or constant power but variable grip from wear and fuel online. Personally I'm sticking with online testing as I want my setup to be good for racing other people.

sounds like you guys are experiencing exactly what i am.
In hindsight i shouldve done all my tests online as it wouldve proven more beneficial.
Alas...

I feel PD shouldve really kept it constant. whats the need for them to give online different default conditions? It just doesnt make sense to me.

Am not in a good mood today. Work pissed me off and so did this forum.
I will be moving my thread to some other forum soon.
This forums rules seem a bit too a**l for no reason, for me to post in.
Accidentally use an abbreviation and your posts get deleted.
spend all that time to help someone out and out comes a mod to tell you your english isnt right, and deletes your posts.

I guess if it happens again, i'll move. Its not worth the stress to me. Wasting my time posting up stuff and getting penalised for minor stuff. Its disrespectful to the effort one puts in.

Imagine if they discover a "u" in my first post and delete the entire post. I would be pissed off!!

That thought just scared me, im gonna copy paste my test list in my computers notepad the second i post this msg.

Anyone signing up for this forum should definitely read the agreements with a microscope before they agree to join in.

The mods here will penalise you for absent mindedly writing "u" but they wont for writing "btw"..careful.

I agree with stormbringer about the mods being very strict!I'm a member in many forums and never seen seen such behaviour regarding grammar and spelling.I'm from Greece and me along with many guys in this forum don't have English as our L1 so some mistakes are bound to happen.Anyway be cool, cheers!!

man it really doesnt even matter i never use capitals or abbreviate anymore its just if you make it look really ugly and hard to read they arent happy about it.

It is very weird and funny here in this regard. No other forum, ive ever participated in, does this.

At first i thought the op of the thread where i posted, deleted my post, which i thought was odd since i was trying to help him. but i didnt care. then comes in this mod threatening to "ram it home" like some powermad, "i'll teach you a lesson" kid. That ticked me off. I hate narcs. Such trivial stuff they are picking on here.

Even this post, i had to read it twice before i press post. I dont want to have to do that. Thats just me and i guess im unreasonable.

Whatever though, if it happens again, them deleting my posts or infractions, im out of here. Im not putting myself through scrutinizing my casual typing just to be part of some forum that has freaking english police. After all, its just for a frikking video game, not my college thesis.

Hang in there Stormbringer, this thread and your work has been hugely valuable and interesting for all of us GT5 racers.

We've all noticed a little mod excessiveness from time to time too, but usually the signal is worth the noise, hopefully that's not a worsening trend and things here don't go the way of RaceSimCentral which used to be a great popular simracing forum until the oversensitive mods and other things caused everyone to leave and go elsewhere (Nogripracing).

I've tried, it's useless. I've never seen such a serious business forum on the internet, especially that interludes guy. I wouldn't hand out infractions that often if I was getting paid for it. Just do what I do now, post only when necessary or have nothing better to do.

Engines DO break-in online. I had to revise my hosting restrictions earlier, because my Lexus SC430 has gained BHP during the session. Likewise, I have noticed the power drop, for cars that I have driven, when they are in need of an oil change.

The only difference that I can find between online and offline is constance grip. From what I have read here, fuel has no weight in GT5, so whether it is used or not, will have no bearing on the dynamics that govern the car. 👍

cheers for the support guys. Will try to add more updates soon.

As for online/offline, I tuned my FTO yesterday in the ring, online. Took me a few hours to get it to handle to my liking. Made gargantuan changes in camber, toe, and what not. Finally, got to a point where the grip loss effect was pretty predictable.
Sucks that it makes the car too stiff and unresponsive offline. (which was to be expected)

Im going to have to keep 2 copies of all my fave cars. One for online and one for off. Doesnt seem like theres any other way to keep it convenient for ones self.
