I find some races to be ill designed, like the final race in the liberty walk playlist. The roads are pretty much just wide and straight highways and all three cars that's you are switching between are more handling focused. You just end up sitting at the top speed for most of it with no big weather/time changes. Kinda bored me.

I also wish that the Donut Media dialogues were more about the cars (really cool 1 v1 rivalries) than just generic quips.

I also feel that they've toned down the colors compared to the beta (which I preferred because of how vibrant everything looked)

I also feel like there need to be more road variety (width, color, texture, markings) to complement the nice map.

So far, apart from these, it's very enjoyable. The handling feels much less twitchy than the beta.

The car prices are wack with a civic costing as much as an f1 car, and some supercars costing more than some hypercars. But credits (so far) seem not too grindy.

Very big free for me. The performance also is very smooth with only minor frame drops for the cutscenes.

Like there aren't any other strong competitors. Motorfest map is big, has enough different bioms, well designed, dense. Horizon 5 map has horrible design. Unbound is well designed, but underdeveloped. Previous NFS and Horizon games has its own flaws(too small, too closed to be open world, doesn't have enough variety).
TDU2's Oahu map is still the best because it's a full size replica of the island.

The stories in Forza are more like side quests though. They do not form the core gameplay experience, which is racing what you want where you want. Now, based on what I've seen, the playlists make up the core experience for Motorfest and I don't like that.

Woah now hang on a minute. That's a big call.
I'm backing that call!
I was skeptic about TCM map at first, but I really love it now. The location itself is probably unbeatable anyway. And the map has a good size and is nicely done. Definitely my favorite open world racing game and playground so far.

First post :)
Really enjoying The Crew Motorfest. Had early access from Monday and have completed the majority of the playlists so far, apart from the Drift one and the Supercar one. Just can't get a grip of the drifting in this game :(
The only real gripe i have so far is that you can't filter the map, and if they start introducing more playlists then the map is going to get too cluttered very quickly

Played a few hours of this game now, I have to say, it has exceeded all my expectations so far. The map is excellent, it’s got nice variety and some excellent routes, scenery looks fantastic as well, it actually gives me real FH3 vibes with the colours and the feel.

Visually it’s a real treat, running performance mode on the XSX and it looks absolutely stunning at times, the cars look beautiful, the lighting is excellent and as above, the environment looks very nice as well.

I am loving the Playlists, I love that they’re like Horizon stories but dialled up to 11. I think it’s a really clever way to engage with the game and use different cars and classes. I’m glad they went this way otherwise it could have ended up feeling too similar to Horizon. As it is, it feels like it is doing its own thing and its own take on the car festival thing.

The audio is simply brilliant, the engine/exhaust sounds are superb, some cars aren’t quite as good as others but on the whole it’s fantastic, the music selection is solid as well.

Areas where I’m not so convinced, the handling, might need a little tweaking in the settings to find a sweet spot but it feels a bit, almost old school Codemasters with the centre pivot thing, the cars feel to me like the pivot around the middle which I find makes drifting a challenge and it can just feel a bit odd sometimes. It’s not terrible, it just feels a bit odd sometimes.
It’s also a bit confusing to understand with regards to the menus, I don’t think the menus are laid out quite as well as they could be and it feels a bit messy.

Overall, very enjoyable and I will spend a good amount of time in this game over the next few weeks before Forza comes out, I will buy Motorfest when the price comes down a bit, for now I’ll use my month of Ubisoft+ to enjoy it.

I will definitely give the free trial a go. I always enjoy the crew 2 when i play it, but i rarely find time for it, so i don't want to buy and then feel i wasted money by never playing it.

It looks great though and i am hearing a lot of good things, so i must check it out.

I can't agree more with you ! I was expecting nothing from this game and in fact I'm really love it, I was pleasantly surprised with le last beta and this version have some tiny touch of improvements that are welcome

Regarding the handling, I think this is pretty good for a arcade racer, and my personal opinion is the physic is way way better when you play with a wheel, you no longer have the sometimes strange behavior you can have with the controller

The negative, I found is the blurry mirrors and no more pedestrians

@MagpieRacer I've try both version xbox and PS5, I do have mini lag or sutter on xbox and perfect smooth on PS5

It seems that my car transfer failed, I don't know if playing the game through Ubisoft+ has anything to do with it. I remember it working in the demo.

This is odd. One of my cars that I got from TC2 Gold Edition didn't transfer, the Alfa Romeo Giulia. Everyone else experiencing the same thing?

Other than that I've been enjoying the trial so far! It's been improved so much from TC2. I'll be buying this on sale. The game looks beautiful !

So I put traction control on sports mode which makes it better, but are there deeper settings I should be looking at that will make the game more fun and rewarding? Linearity, deadzone stuff, I am not 100% what any of that stuff will do.

Did a quick run through the Summit to see what it's like. I still don't have all the max parts, but just wanted to test the waters. Not going for Plat until the Ford GT one. Hopefully I'll have better parts and settings for that.

About maxing the parts numbers the fastest way, what perk is best?
Is loot quality just about the affix or does it actually increase the chance of higher numbers (but less parts)?

I was also under the impression, that it's always best to pretty much immediatelly install highest numbers, because next loot is based on what is installed. But, I have done multiple runs without bothering installing right away, and noticed that the parts value increased anyways, even if I let them uninstalled.

Controller here is at default, just with deadzones reduced.
The assists really vary from what you want to do. ABS should always be on. ESP and TC mostly at sport. But really depends on the car and car class. For drifting I use everything off (besides ABS).

And I drift only via cockpit view (ingame steering visible helps a ton about what is going on), which is much easier, at least for me. External cam feels weird for drifting.

What mode are you guys on ps5 running res or performance ?

Res made me feel a little ill and performance a little blurry, i also had to mess around with the game optimizer on the tv to get it running smoothly 🤷‍♂️ bit of a let down after the beta on PC

I think I'm on Performance. Runs good to me.

I've given the game 1 hour 30 of the 5 hour free trial and I am done.

Cars drive well, much better than Need for Speed! The cockpit cam is great, you get a nice sense of speed. Customisation is fun, better in some ways to Horizon. Eclectic car selection. Variety in the radio stations.

But other than that, it's a formula as old as time that I can't help feel tired of. Sensory overload, like it's made for people with ADHD. The car upgrading is mobile game-esque, and confusing.

And let's not forget the MTX! And the 3 currencies.

I’m trying out the demo. The hardest thing to get used to? Having the mini-map on the right side. After eleven years of playing Horizon, it’s second nature to look to the left for it.

Overall, it feels like Horizon Try-Hard, but that’s not a bad thing. I’ll probably buy it tomorrow.

Day one review(xsx):
  • Great visuals, smooth 60fps. Horizon still on top
  • Horrible UI. There are some improvements from tC2, but still horrible.
  • Handling is slightly less tailhappy than it was in beta. I am using ABS and traction control( sport). Feels great.
  • Great cut scenes and story bits. Did Donut, Lambo and 911. Stories could be little bit longer - for example, 911s could be extended to 8 events easily with more variety (RSR instead of GT3 Cup, +GT3 RX, +996 gen).
  • Progression system is great, but not intuitive (thx to ui)
  • 5h to complete 3 playlists and ~10 boxes in freeroam. No spendings(export done), 800k, two classes maxed(sr1&2) and hypercars in 700s. Looks like next goal will be obtainment of all available +exp% perks and setting top score for Summit.
  • Map:
Motorfest map, maybe,is greatest map of all in racing games. There aren't any other strong competitors. MF map is big, has enough different bioms, well designed, dense. Horizon 5 map has horrible design. Unbound is well designed, but underdeveloped. Previous NFS and Horizon games has its own flaws(too small, too closed to be open world, doesn't have enough variety).

Its BIG thing for PlayStation - nothing like that was available since PS3. For XBOX and PC its competitor to Horizon with its own pros and cons. Considering tC2 history, this could outperform Horizon 5 in future. Was worth my 45$.

Thanks. I too have ABS on and most others on Sport. Deadzone Zero. Linearity middle, a but to the faster side. Still it feels like the car reacts a lot too late when steering. I feel like i steer at least half a second before the car makes any move. Very weird after playing GT7.

@KAIex122,

hmm, to me it feels more like the opposite. The initial turn in is often a bit too harsh, imho. I even thought about turning down steering linearity. I don't see or feel any input delay or such. I am on PC here, very smooth 60 fps, vsync off, just g-sync.

It looks like no Stellantis cars are licensed currently to Motorfest, hence no Alfa, Fiat, Lancia in the current car list, so these will not be transfered across from Crew 2

The main reason I loved The Crew 2 was its "mini USA" map because I thought it was brilliant. As a Brit with an interest in the USA but having never been I loved exploring around and driving through the cities, up into the forests, over the Golden Gate Bridge, through the Everglades, into the desert etc. The little Easter eggs they put in like the crashed UFO, Bigfoot up in the Cascades, the wildlife, people said the map felt empty and soulless but personally I love it.

First impressions of this is that it's a better game. It looks better, the cars handle better, it seems better tuned all round and the map feels quite full with some beautiful scenery. But also somehow it just feels like a bit of a Forza Horizon clone, there's a bit of 'seen this all before' (maybe because Test Drive Unlimited used the same location, dunno) and I'm not seeing what the USP here is that's going to suck me in or make me want to buy it at a time where Forza and EA WRC are just around the corner demanding me to dent my bank account.

Will be interesting to see how it develops over time though because Ubisoft certainly supported TC2 very well, continuing to add free stuff long after most people had moved on from it. I always appreciate a developer who really backs their product over a long period of time, and in The Crew 2's case in spite of lacklustre reviews. That's encouraging for the new game.

Got home early from work yesterday so i jumped into the trial. Somehow burned through the whole 5 hours 😂

I guess i was having a good time lol I always enjoyed the crew 2 when i played it and this felt like a nice step forward. Not gonna get to deep here, as i am supposed to be working, but i definitely recommend anyone who is thinking about getting it to try the trial, it is honestly what sold me. I was firmly on the fence, but after burning 5 hours without a thought, and having enjoyed myself the whole time, i feel like it's a reasonable pick up for me.
