I haven't reached 40 yet, but the damage engine seems to be great form what I've seen so far.

Little details like the bumper flexing and bouncing back when tapped shows that a lot of effort was put into this.

I think the guy posted on one of my thread was right, that KAZ will have a PATCH early December for damage.

That should end this debate on whether or not it is in the game.

After reading the article he doesn't seem to know anymore than we do. He is using the same video and quoting the same statement that the Italian guy who made it has denied.

I am fine with this level of damage as long as there is mechanical damage. At this point while it is possible it is in there after level 20, I doubt it.

I am at level 16 and nothing has changed for me.

Damage in gt5 is lame.

1 Buy a $100,000 car
2 Go race
3 90 percent chance that ai will ram you from behind
5 Pay $80,000 to fix it
6 Win about 20 races to get the money to fix my car(might as well buy a new one)
7 After I fix it ai will hit me again in the first race and I have to repeat steps 1 through 7 throughout the whole game, lol.

Or I can just drive my car without fixing it with messed up handling(i personaly choose second option).I think they been smoking when they made this game and this is coming from gt loyal fan.

You shouldn't have believed that thread. There are no damage costs.

Bwahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha.

So an article that claims a rumour started in this thread as fact and uses evidence posted in this thread to back it's claims, even though that evidence has also been shown to be incorrect many times in this thread (the video damage occurred before level 40, the poster said it can occur any time you just need to work very hard for a long time to achieve that damage), that article suddenly makes this threads rumour fact. Talk about circle reasoning.

All that article proves is that it is a totally unreliable source of information. Unfortunately it will end the debate for some and they will be misinformed. There has been no evidence presented to back the claim of damage levelling, there has been an abundance of evidence presented to support the claim that damage levelling does not exist.

As for some of the more serious damage pics and vids we are starting to see in this thread, I can only say I am disappointed. That said I don't care if any improvements are made to panel deformation, as long as an update improves performance damage to the point that removes bumper car racing from the game I will be happy, YMMV.

I would hope they first add realistic performance damage to online racing, two player and time trials because I can't imagine adding a decent performance damage system to AI races would be easy. They would have to also improve the AI otherwise some races would be almost impossible and I can't tell you how many times I have been frustrated by the AI cars taking me out of a race in a way that would never happen in real life.

You must not been playing long enough, lol.Go to "GT Auto" menu and "Chassis Maintenance",every time you get hit it will cost you 80 percent of your car's worth to fix it!lol, and if you choose not to fix it your car will not handle properly.

No no no.....

Yeah,go check for yourself.Im surprised that nobody else is complaining about this retardation.

Go check for yourself how much it costs on a car that hasn't been crashed. What do you know, it's the same if you spent an hour driving around in circles not touching anything as if you spent an hour smashing it in to a wall.

The chassis restoration is 50% of the car's original value, with a minimum of 500cr for cars you can't buy period and maximum of 500,000cr. This has been discussed ad naseum on this forum.

I am the muppet who started that thread and it has been discovered that i and many others were wrong. I have updated the thread to adress the issue but clearly it's too late...

It was a good observation and a good thread, it turned out to be wrong but nothing wrong with the idea. Especially, since we are still in the dark about how damage does or doesn't work.

I was just playing gt mode and a standard(Volkswagon Golf) hit me from the rear and dislodged the front bumper. It took me by surprise since I thought standards were modeled as one piece. I'm at level 15 by the way.

I got this car too (bought it for the A-Spec Ferrari race. It sounds so awesome, just like you would imagine a 70s Ferrari to sound).
My expieriences with this car:
Damage seems to be disabled at some events. I was lvl16-17 during the few events I made with that car.
First, I raced with it at the Ferrari event (Don`t know the english name, Im playing the german version. Its under "Profi Events", the third event section you can unlock). I got some minor deformations (not that big as yours), but no scratches and the cars rear end didn`t get any damage.
Then I started the MH cup ("Expert Events"), there I got damage comparable to yours, eventhough the rear end was just got some minor deformations and no real damage like a bumper hanging down.
I also made the tuned car championship with this thing and the damage was just like the one in the MH cup.
Its funny because I made a "crash session" in arcade mode with a F40 and this car got decent deformations, alot scratches and damage. Wonder why It doesn`t works with the 512BB?

Edit: Personally speaking, the damage shown on that car looks horrible.

Could you be more overdramatic? Many people didnt know that damage can or could occur like this before level 40. And then did what you accused me of doing and assumed that it occured before level 40. The video couldve been made after it, but one thing for sure is that we dont know.

So than what are those costs? What do we achieve from an engine overhaul and chassis repairs? Because my car needs both yet it's performance hasn't changed, in fact, it got better once the engine was broken in.

Its strange, well not really when you think about it. We know that the standard cars are made without conformity but it also seems that the premiums are also inconstant with the way they where build. Now this may be due to how some car manufactures want or don't want certain damage. but what car manufacturer would want there car to look like the above picture my guess is non. So i believe there is just inconsistency with the way the cars where built and this is the reason for the inconsistent damage models. I'm still at a low lvl so i cant comment on the lvl 20 or higher damage.
Im hoping that the mechanic damage is good and i will be happy. I'm a sim guy i play combat mission so I'm not a graphic junky i want realism and in my experience you can only get that with numbers not art. Just don't tell my boss i said that:P
