Red the way you finished your post is funny. Basically saying other than the cars and tracks the games good.

Don't mean to laugh sorry.

Sorry to repost but i hit the tail end of the page and i just want to be heard on this point!

The main reason that people are dissappointed is that Kaz himself said that damage would be like nothing ever done before! he stated that you will be able to see cars crash into a bunch of pieces. I read somewhere in an interview that the damage level would be down to the lugnuts!!! WWWWWTTTTTFFFFFFF!!!!! WHERE IS IT!!! I dont see it. And for most gamers who are casual racers, i dont think people have the patience to sit through 5 million hours of play just to get to level one thousand to unlock something that is supposed to on from the beginning! that is plain stupidity im sorry.

Delays delays delays, and I just about have lost hope that this game would be what they made it out to be. damage to cars is essential. The GT series as far as I know is the only "racing sim" I have eeeever played that has never done proper damage and now they try, but its just too little too late.

On a side note, people saying we are just complaining! well, there are so many things to complain about! DAMAGE!!! also, the track editor, is just that an EDITOR!!! NOT A track CREATOR! there is a huge difference. karting also suffers from hilarious physics, the tire screeches have the same mundain drone that they always had, cars have no interiors, and so on....

PD HAVE bit off more than they can chew. I would rather have the most advance physics engine in the world with cars of my choice as free DLC than to have 200 or so nice cars and 800 crappy ones, half-assed game options, and NO REALISTIC DAMAGE!!!!

PD have really effed the pooch. total failure.

With all due respect, f' the casuals. Too much pandering to them this gen.

News Alert! Game is not out yet!!!!!!!!!

People are all freaking out that damage is non-existent. I lol at those people.
Half the games you buy today feature an update for the first time you pop in the disc. If on 11-24-10 I put GT5 in my system and it doesnt say "There is an update available" I will literally come back to this forum and eat my words.

Calm down people...damage systems will be unlocked and engaged in full glory shortly...and if they arent, big freaking deal, still an awesome game like every other GT game. A little damage is better than no damage.

And @ tazbo28...I do want a Fully Fledged Simulator....not an Arcade Racer at all. I am just pointing out by my post that I am happy with whatever I get, and that a little damage is better than not any damage. You do make a good point about improving your driving skills in the game, so in a way, you wont see any damage after lvl 20, because you wont be crashing. I can see how that might be an issue with damage being level oriented. Iv'e been thinking about that and I think that personally, I won't want to see my cars get messed up...and have to get the repair costs deducted from my winnings.

Maybe once between lvl 20-40 I will take my car through a track and just beat the life out of it to see the damage....but after I get that out of my system, I am going to want to keep my cars in pristine condition and drive perfectly.

Remember, the emphasis on this game is driving good....not bad. Yes, there will be bad drivers....and they will crash...and yes, they will pay over and over and over again for repairs...and after a while....your gunna wish you were not crashing and seeing damage. If I want my car busting into bits and peices...Ill go play Burnout Paradise, but if I want a simulation that focuses on the aspects of good driving, while occasionally showing minor damage...then I will play GT5.

That's great^ but what about people who are not in psn?

For people who have the game already, is damage mentioned on the box art?

"plain stupidity" "Total failure" "EDITOR!!! NOT A track CREATOR!" "hilarious physics" "PD HAVE bit off more than they can chew" "half-assed game options"

oh "tazbo28" ......So what have you don't the last 6 years while Kaz has directed Tourist Trophy, GT5 Prologue, GTPSP, and GT5?

I'm not even sure the developers of Forza or iRacing have earned the right to get away with such arrogant vitriol, but maybe you have a secret racing game that will be perfect that we don't know about? If so, let us know, can't wait to see it! Until then you are just another non-contributing zero on a forum picking holes in things that aren't perfect.

I believe damage is mentioned on the box art, as well as the U.S. GT5 Commercial that just launched. If you have no PSN and no way to update....then I guess you live with lvl based gradual minor damage? I don't know..I don't have the game yet? So I have no clue how damage update will work...but you can bet there will be some sort of update. PD wants to please us..and I just don't see them putting out GT5..and saying..ok..bye.

I think they have a lot in store for us in terms of DLC and patches. Just what I forsee...no one has to agree with me.

Again, check the hidden trophies.
You wouldn't be able to acheive one of them if damage was accurately represented in this thread.

Speculation, premature conclusions and EMOs don't mix.
It gets tiresome.

Maybe while we're busy playing GT5 you should go home and (comments removed) dimwit :dunce: (can you tell im sick of all the complaining/whinging??)

Yeah, these damage videos are very disappointing. I hope once the game is released Kaz can address this, because frankly this is not what he promised and I would like to know their thinking behind this damage. I've given up holding out for a surprise. I still think GT5 is the best racing sim (FM3 damage is laughable--sorry). NFS damage is damn impressive.

i dont care about the damage. i just want to play the damn game. who cares if the damage isnt good and reviewers are gonna give this game a low score. im still gonna but this game and enjoy the hell out of it. Damage will never be realistic in games. if u want realistic damage, take your mom's car and drive into a tree at 40mph

Sorry I must have missed the part where Kaz Promised us something Over the last 5 to 6 years:boggled:

I'm with this guy. Wait until you have the game and are fully ranked before crying like my sister.

If it has been confirmed that visual and mechanical damage increases as you level up as many have mentioned... why are there still people in this thread saying "we've been lied to" and "damage in this game is terrible"? We haven't even seen full damage, only low/mid level damage.

Does anyone have a link to the guy playing through who says he only just unlocked tire damage?

Maybe if were lucky PD will release some big update along with initiating online and we will all see that the current damage system is really just a placeholder. I hope there is some awesome damage system that will suddenly become available on launch day.

very true after watching this http://www.gamespot.com/shows/now-playing/?event=now_playing_gran_turismo_520101122 im hardly even excited for it any more. I think they will rate it a 7.5 max which is what it deserves. I don't know what they were doing 5 years and mr kaz the "perfectionist" was smoking while making it.

Lol fully ranked?

I don't get or agree with any of this level up damage system, its not dragon ball
Z.

They should have CLEAR and obvious options to set the damage level to your liking at any stage of the game, in any part of it.

Why would you include it and force people to have to level up to access it?

What if you loose your save? Do you have to play for weeks again to unlock something that should be a adjustable option like any other setting in a game?

Also If it is driver level based, what happens in online play? Clearly everyone can't have varying damage levels.

I don't think it should even be allowed to have varying fake driving aids like extra grip or active steering in online play, these should be locked and equal across players, let alone damage.

This just made my day dude...lol. True though, if you want real damage, take your Mom's car and drive into a wall. That should hold you over till GT6.

It so funny how people are complaining about damage...as if it's gunna make or break the game. lol. By level 40...we are all going to be wishing that PD didn't put damage into the game cause it's going to be so freaking real that our repair bills will be half of the credits we earn from that race. lol. In other words, damage will meet everyones expectations.

PD DID say there would be damage...but they never promised it would be right off the bat in the beginning of the game! They just said it would be in there...and it is.....gradually people.....gradually.

I do not understand all the "ITS NOT EVEN OUT YET!" posts...

Release dates are an arbitrary date set for marketing purposes... when people say "it's not out yet" as in no one has a final copy to really make judgements off of, I get that.

But to say "it's not out yet" but people have played it for near a week now and we have had access to a plethora of gameplay videos and pictures that just seems silly...

That's like saying that the 2011 Camry isn't for sale yet when the guys down at the docks have been driving them around for weeks and puttinng up videos and pictures...

And all this release day patch talk... while I will gladly take anything that improves the gamme, if that's what it takes it's truly a bad sign becuase it basically says the game was broken and if you don't have broadband, you are stuck with a broken game.

I might feel better at home with my updated copy, but that's a horrible move to do to yoru customer base... release day patches to fix online issues is one thing since it only effects people who can get it, but no single player release day patch is a good thing.

Because damage is a new system to the game...something that has to be given to the player in miniscule doses at a time.

Do you want to turn on the game and play GT as you've been playing for years...only now, you realize that you have popped a tire at turn 1 and lost a bumper at turn 2 and your engine fails at turn 3? Im not saying that these are bad things...Im saying that they are giving us small doses of damage at a time to teach us how to adapt to it.

for ex:

lvl 1-10
Scratches
lvl 10-20
Car Deformation
lvl 20-30
Mechanical Damage & Tire Punctures
lvl 30-40
Engine Failure, Overheating, etc

So, if your at lvl 10-20....you will spend those levels learning how to avoid car deformation by learning how to properly brake and take corners. They are just easing us into a new realm of GT. I have no problem with that, as when we beat the full game 100%...We will all be able to go back and complete it all over with full damage in effect.

***please keep in mind the levels of damage I listed are just my theory on how it evolves. May differ from final version***

Well then maybe the update will come from PD's servers, like in the Spec II and Spec III updates for GT5:P. They didn't come from PSN.

I like the fact that in the Gamespot review the guy says "It's a GT game so you know you can totally bash your way around" and tells about how he couldn't beat the corvette challenge so beat his way to the front of the pack in under a half a lap...

That is exactly why if you want to put damage in you don't wait until later... you are just reinforcing bad habbits.

there is no damage in GT5 apparently... All i can think of is that damage wasn't finished and they released it and will patch damage in later.

Yes there is....lol these forums are a joke with the influx of new people who have zero idea as to what they're talking about.

Bookmarked for plain stupidity. if you thinkGT5 wil avg 7.5 scores, well, emo much? What will you say when the 9's and above roll in? Yes, this damage business is being greatly exaggerated by emo's who make every non perfection seem like the end of the world.

book mark your own stupidity since you have poor comprehension. I didn't say it will average 7.5.... i said THEY will give it a 7.5 max and yes IT ONLY DESERVES THAT FROM WHAT WE SEEN.

You need to go kick rocks and stop trolling .
You need to wait to play the game and experience what was promised
