Yay for glitches.

I've not even checked the size of my file but to be honest I think I notice a slight dip in quality compared to when I first turned on the game...

Anyways, I got those Steel Ignots that are lying in the Blacksmith Omnis. Cheers buddy! Now my Blade Sword is fine. I take it you can improve on an already improved weapon? By enchanting it etc.

Twitter seems to be overflowing now with "PS3 framerate issues due to save file size" tweets. Mine is approaching 5Mb, but I don't have any troubles yet.

I might try to turn off autosave if possible as apparently the issues start mostly after playing a couple of hours. So maybe a memory leak in autosave files or so.

You can continue to upgrade them, Fine, Superior, Exquisite and ??? That is as far as I have gone. If you're a good thief, take a look in the pockets of the owner of the general goods store in whiterun, he has something useful to smiths ;) (can't remember the shop name, just know he buys everything).

Awesome! 👍 Can't wait to get the finest sword in Skyrim.

Also, what's everyone's attack technique? I'm Fire Magic-Sword Wielder :D

Mine are 'flawless', next level up from exquisite. There could be a step higher if you have 100 smithing or something though. I do have a ring of the smith, which gives a 15% better improvement, so maybe flawless is the max.

I'm a one-handed sword warrior but i'm beginning to level sneak and archery aswell, in preparation for when I join the Dark Brotherhood. The attack multipliers for stealth kills in this game are immense, 15x for daggers if you get the perk, combined with the +100% for the one-handed skill and a power attack critical hit, and 100% chameleon (if it's possible in this game), you could probably one hit anything in the game.

Archery seems to be better, but a lot slower than in Oblivion. I feel you really have to specialise your perks in order to be a powerful character, especially level 20+ when things start to get tough.

Apparently you can't max out all your perks. This makes me sad :( I want a perfect character.

Hah thats what I did, disenchanted a robe which had 75% magicka regen wanting to use it on my steel armour.. well can't.. I ended up just putting 20 magicka points on my ring instead, was a little dissapointed.
You have to level up your "enchanting" in the menu when you level up using your perk points. The higher you level that up, the more % you get out of each disenchanted item.

My wife also just got hooked on this game last night. So I will have to buy it for sure in the very near future.

I also found out after watching my wife, why its much harder for me to lockpick. It has to be something with the race choice. She is an elf and I am an Imperial and it is MUCH harder for me to lockpick.

Speaking of lock picking, is there any trick to it? Because I always just try until I get the lock to turn but I loose loads of picks that way.

Its much harder in Skyrim especially if you have an Imperial character. From what I have seen, if you are an elf its much easier. I just save right before I pick the lock. If I break a few then I load the save. Much harder in Skyrim than it was in Fallout 3 or NV. Well if you play as an Imperial. Seems to be much easier as an elf. My wife and my friend are elves and have no problem with lockpicking. My other friends are Imperials and seem to have a lot more problems. I could easily go all the way through F3 and NV with 1 lockpick. No way I could do that in Skyrim.

Lock picking is easy unless it's a master lock. Those are impossible. The key is just to tap a or d. If you see the handle of the pick move at all, let go and adjust by a couple of degrees. Novice locks have huge sectors in which the pick will succeed. The sectors get smaller as the lock difficulty increases. I'm convinced that the master locks have only a minute wide sector where the pick can succeed.

Lock picking depends on skill not race. Just level up and you should be fine. I have no problems with my Breton.

Also, I think the final smithing upgrade is "legendary". Just a hunch though. Not sure at all.

My lockpicking skill is around 30 and I still have issues with Skyrim. Never had any issues with F3 or NV. My wife is at 15 and has no issues at all with her Elf character. Maybe its coincidence but I am convinced the elves pick the locks easier.

Anyone know where I can get a good deal on Skyrim? Any sales? I rented it for $3.50 and now that my wife and I love the game, we want to buy it. Probably buy it this Friday.

Yeah thanks, I'll have to use some perk points on it

I am a Nord and I find it quite easy, I have managed to open all levels of locks (maybe not master, I forget) without breaking more than 5 (for the hardest). All the practice in fallout made it simple right away for me.

Also check if you maybe caught some disease affecting your lockpicking skills.

At the risk of sounding cheeky, have you considered the possibility that your wife simply has better dexterity? Next time you're playing the game, give it a try with her character and vice versa. I'm playing as a nord, and I haven't concentrated on my lockpicking skills, but it is relatively easy. I have noticed that it requires slightly better precision than Fallout 3 and New Vegas did..

Thats not it at all. We both put hundreds of hours into Fallout 3 and both play Skyrim lockpicking the same way. My other friend with the elf character said its very easy. My other friends with Imperials said its much harder.

Every race will have some kind of base advantages and disadvantages. Maybe you just need to compensate with perks or magic.

I traded a couple games in to get it for free but you could try seeing if any stores are having a black friday or cyber monday sale on it? I know Battlefield is going to be $28 at walmart and Best Buy has a bunch of sales on brand new games.

We cant wait that long. We will probably buy it Friday for sure at the latest. Our rental runs out tonight and my wife wants me to buy it tonight.
But I will just wait until Friday. I have plenty of other games to keep me busy with SR3, Halo CEA, MW3 (rental) and everything else I am getting backlogged on.

Got this game today and I've just spent about 30 minutes in it. I've already collected a bunch of side-quests to complete. One question:

What does "You cannot sleep in an owned bed" mean? It turned night in Rivenwood when I completed some blacksmithing quests for Aldor, I then found him in the inn. I thought I'd rent a room in the inn for 10 gold to sleep until the next day, so after I paid I just ran in the room next to the barkeeper but apparently I cannot sleep in that bed...

Graphics are a little bit disappointing, but it doesn't compare to the already positive things i've went through so far.

"Owned" means someone else owns that bed. They dont want your taint in it.
