Man, SCS must really have changed a lot in the coding like Promods and MP mod guys have been saying. Promods said they are on vacation and they will have something done in the next two weeks. MP seems to have it running but, with some fairly major issues.

I really like the changes with the update, but the speed in the corner isn't always the speed the signs say. I went by a sign that said 100, but in the corner it still said 80 or 90.

I like what they did with the loading screens, and the interface/menus look a bit different too.

I think the reason for the signs must be because truck are limited to 90 km/h, and the "regular" speed limit was/is 100. Otherwise I'd agree on it being a bit strange.

I could be wrong but, on normal roads, the trucks are allowed to take the said speed limit (IE: 50/70 Km/h in ETS2). Then on the motorways they are limited to a maximum of 90 Km/h but if the said speed limit is at 90 Km/h then the trucks are asked to go 10 Km/h slower at 80 Km/h. I noticed a lot of trucks acting this way in Italy.

Motorway signs never tell you what the national speed limit is for trucks, but the limit for passenger cars.

Automobile speed limits ≠ truck/trailer speed limits. There is usually a national blanket speed limit of 80 or 90 km/h imposed on trucks, but there may be additional restrictions you have to look up yourself. If your vehicle weighs more than 3.5 tonnes and thereby falls into the truck category, these are the speed limits you have to follow at all times.

In Denmark, trucks cannot exceed 70 km/h (for cars: 80 km/h) on single carriageways outside built-up areas and 80 km/h (for cars: 130 km/h, with exceptions) on motorways.

tl;dr: this sign doesn't mean a hoot if you drive a truck.

The great thing is that the GPS does the work for you in the 1.11 update.

Oh, Ok. Its not like that in New York, or maybe even any other place in America.

I wondered why I was blowing by trucks on the Autobahn. :sly::lol:

Only time is some state routes are 10 MPH slower, but most Interstates are the same speed for trucks. Not always but most of the time.

I wonder if I should use Autobahn speeds in America as I don't know the speed limits in the USA either?
It's common sense (here at least) to look up this kind of info if you're travelling in a foreign country. Than again, the USA is the only country most Americans know. Well apart from Canada that is. So I guess you're forgiven for not having these thoughts intuitively.

In the pre-internet days you'd be able to get these kinds of info from travel agencies or better yet the local mobility agencies like the ANWB (Dutch) and ADAC (German). You'd simply be able to get a booklet in which it informed you of all the regulation differences (compared to your native country) in all at least European countries. For North America there was a different booklet, Asia as well... etc. I'm sure they still exists. They have that stuff on their websites nowadays.
But it wasn't only about speed limits or any other traffic rules, but also the mandatory equipment you'd have to have on board per country and stuff like that (think orange jackets, spare light bulbs, reflective warning triangle, fire extinguisher, safety hammer, etc).
Than again in the pre-internet days we still had a more divided Europe. Especially in the days that the Berlin Wall was still in place. So it was more fun reading all this stuff while planning a holiday.
I went to East Germany on holiday to family back in those days. It was always fun passing the border and having those guys parade around with AK-47's on their shoulders looking funny at you while you open up everything on the car just before they come over to check with their mirrors and stuff. And when I mean everything... I mean everything. Hood, doors, trunk, gas cap. Whatever could be opened... you'd just opened it so it would spoil their fun of looking through the vehicle as you showed in advance you didn't have anything to hide.

Aaaaaah, borders... I miss them. I wonder when we get them in ETS2? Countries like Bosnia, Herzegovina, Montenegro, Albania are all countries outside of the European Union borders. So if they add those... someday... :dopey:

I usually just drive as fast as I possibly can in the game. The extra money from finishing the delivery sooner so I can accept another delivery more than offsets the speeding fines.
I am a frequent user of the 1000+ HP mods! :D

I'm currently only using two mods. One of them unlocks all the upgrades (but I still have to pay to buy them). And the other increases engine sound volume in the cabin.

FYI, EU trucks are fit with a by law mandatory by speed limiter set to 90 km/h (56 mph). So IRL truckers can't speed unless the speed limit on a certain stretch of road falls below 90 km/h. ;)

So technically you'd have to tick that box in the options as well if you want to 'simulate real life'. Which that 'unlock all upgrades' mod does as well in my opinion. As there is no store I know that checks how many years I have my drivers license before selling me stuff, which feels like the leveling and upgrade unlocking thing is.

Are there any free demos of this on steam or something ? would be keen to give it a go just for something different.

Also does it have triple monitor support ?

I think that there is a demo somewhere. I could be wrong though. Check on the SCS website.

I also am pretty sure that it has triple monitor support but, I've heard a lot of people complain that it is not that great.

So that's what that option does. I've never tried using it. I've been bombing down highways doing 130+ km/h all this time. I like driving at night more because there's less traffic.

Trailer stability slider is another one that was recently added (haven't had the chance to touch it yet). For my taste the trailers are much too stable in ETS2.
I wonder if they also have added liquid physics simulation to trailer stability? Cause if a liquid gets going slushing left and right on a trailer with a high center of gravity... immediate danger of flipping over.

This is a cement truck for example, and cement is a liquid until it hardens after all.

Or this truck with a liquid trailer.

So, looks like we're going to be waiting even longer for both the Promods packs and Multiplayer to be updated :( SCS just announced 1.12 will be coming out soon, and the Multiplayer guys stated that they are going to wait until after that comes out before they do anything.

I'm very curious as to what DLC is coming simultaneously with 1.12;
ETS2 version 1.12 will bring you four new features, plus it will prepare the game binaries for "A New Type of the DLC" - not paint-jobs this time! We plan to release this DLC simultaneously with the update.
Could it, maybe, be Going North? :dopey:

Full update story.

This is very true, however, turning the limiter off in a lorry is not all that difficult (not much more than the tick box we have in the menu), certainly in the selection we have in game (with the exception of the new Volvo, not classic), all the driver would need to do is remove the right fuse from the fuse box (classic Volvo FH, it would be fuse #5 ;) )

Or disabling it the Clarkson way...

''Which bit do you think needs a hit with a hammer?''

Isn't that the case with everything? ABS is just a fuse too for example. ;)
Even with a moppet it is easy to remove the limiter(s). I am sure it's the same in a BMW or Mercedes cars for example. At least in the 90's they were locked I think.

So yeah, not surprised about the possibility. The issue is that IRL you have police that will stop you when you go too fast and will automatically check that stuff. The game doesn't have any police at all, apart from a few speed cameras.
Previous games of SCS did have police officers though. Makes me wonder if we'll see them back again someday.

On a side note, I reckon you drive or have driven a Volvo FH in the past? ;)

I haven't personally, my father and grandfather both have, I have driven a lot of Volvo coaches though and really, they are the same except for the obvious body and chassis, all the engine, gearbox, electrics etc etc are identical ;)

It's happening! (not Going North, though :(). It's only a "High Power Cargo Pack" with 7 new types of loads. I hope they are heavier than the currently heaviest trailer at 25 tonnes, as that would give us a good reason to use the 700+ HP engines. If they aren't, that would make it quite a pointless add-on IMHO. Simply adding new load styles doesn't add much in the way of replayability. The new paintjob looks good, though. I wonder what the pricing is going to be.
