The Formula 1 calendar development threadFormula 1

I feel sorry for anyone who plans on attending Paul Ricard - even if they did build new stands, the spectators are so far away from the track because of the acres of run-off!
We really should be going back to Magny-Cours. At least that was a more interesting layout. Both tracks are in the middle of nowhere and don't generally produce great racing but at least Magny-Cours isn't a car park of tarmac.

Not to mention the fact that with today's regulations Magny Cours would probably work much better than it did in the 90's.

Indeed, and the DRS can be used on the long back straight heading to the very tight hairpin, tighter than Shanghai - could produce some exciting actions! Seriously, I miss that track already.

Aerial picture, May 4th. Taking shape ... 👍

It should be the New Jersey GP actually so you change that in the thread name. This i heard from the actual race premoter of the circuit himself since it is officially in NJ itself.

Valencia and Barcelona to alternate, starting in 2013 with Barcelona:

The return of the French Grand Prix is also said to be under threat, with Hollande and the Socialist Party wanting the race at Magny-Cours rather than Paul Ricard, or possibly alternating between both venues (in which case, the race would be a yearly event).

Valencia off the annual list gets my vote. Hopefully, it completely disappears after a few years. As for the French grand prix, I don't mind where it ends up, but it seems to be linked with the Belgium grand prix, so that could be a worry. Hopefully they don't share a France-Belgium grand prix with the 3 of them.

It is my understanding that if the French Grand Prix were to alternate between Magny-Cours and Paul Ricard, then the French Grand Prix would be an annual event. It would not alternate with Belgium.

I can see a scenario where Spa instead alternates with the German Grand Prix at Hockenheim, should the Nurburgring promoters go bust.

A bit off topic, but what do you guys think of Albert park?

It's always a fun race.

As for the Paul Ricard vs Magny Cours. Perhaps they would still alternate the French GP with the Belgian GP. But then they would alternate Paul Ricard and Magny Cours for the French GP. So it would be PR, Spa, MC, Spa, PR, Spa, MC, Spa, etc.

One of the best tracks and races on the calendar - it should always remain as the season opener.

I think Melbourne should always be the opener, Interlagos should always be the finale. To be honest, this years calendar is pretty much spot on except for the quality of some of the tracks.

Um, no. The circuit is counter-clockwise.

Oh right. I didn't notice the corner numbers, and thought that turn 20 was turn 1, and got confused because I thought turn 1 was a left turn. hehe, my bad :)

Cristina Fernandez de Kirchner, president of Argentina, has (supposedly) just announced that Formula 1 will return to Argentina in November/December 2013, with a street circuit planned for Mar del Plata (which was Bernie's preferred location when he said he wanted a race in Argentina a few years ago). According to Fernandez, the three-year contract has not been signed yet, but it is "almost complete".
I'm not sure where I heard it (so I can't find the link to back this up), but I'm sure that de Kirchner gave May 15th - today - or May 22nd as the date that the contract for the race would be signed. So keep an eye out for something soon.

Actually the official name is Grand Prix of America at Port Imperial. Its not the New Jersey GP .

Maybe there will be a scalper, or StubHub (who also don't have any at the time of this post).

StubHub
Formula 1 race tickets are an opportunity to see superstars such as Michael Schumacher drive for the Ferrari team and Fernando Alonso of Spain.

:dunce:

Apparently not.

His has confused me since the beginning: Why is there two US GP's when the FIA has the rule of one GP per country strictly? Do they still have that rule , or has it changed by now?

The rule is there can only be one GP under a certain name, that is why over the years there have been European, San Marino, Luxembourg etc... GP's.

Oh yeah....I thought it was different countries. So I heard that there going back to Hockenhiem this year? So that means no Nurburgring?

Yes, there will be no Nurburgring this year. It's an alternate between them so last year it was Nurburgring, this year as we all know, Hockenheim and they will be back to Nurburgring next year...
