Watched two episodes of anime this morning, breaking my 6-day streak of no anime.

Episode 7 Clannad After Story and episode ?? of Monster.

Clannad After Story ep 7 started off a bit rocky, but ended up getting a few good laughs out of me in the last 2/3rds. Liking the humor in After Story a bit better than the original. But so far, like the original, I've yet to feel interested in any of the characters on a level to where the show would be successful at squeezing some man-tears outta me... which frankly isn't that hard of a task.

GFY, that's just your opinion. My opinion is that, just like the original, the show is just seriously failing hard at making me care about these characters. It's painful too, because it's obvious that it's trying uber-hard with that sad/emotional tune that plays almost every other scene... which would be very effective, if it were used more sparingly and the scenes during which it played were equally emotional. But most of the time it just comes off as sloppy and over-the-top, and thus my eye rolling ensues.

It's still early in the game for After Story and so far I'm enjoying it more than the original, but even if it comes through in the end packing the emotional punch it's been lacking so far, I still find it hard to believe it'll be as great as some of you say. Like Clannad though, I'll see it through to the end and judge for myself.
