It is because people are kind of busy with other things I'd imagine. Tis the season for family and all that rubbish. Or playing games they just got, etc.

This place will be back running when school kicks in unfortunately...

About 3 members have just about stopped posting and 3 are too busy with life, none of which include me.

Bored, additional pics (One repeated pic, I posted this on another forum originally as kind of late post in the Christmas Gift Thread there.) of the stuff I got for Christmas. A reminder on what I got.

Dat focus.

A lot of stuff. Makes my Starbucks gift card, scarf, and travel voucher look like I'm just not loved.

My camera sucks at close-up shots, I know. That's as much as I can focus it. One of these days I'll get a better camera.

It isn't the camera, it is the physics behind a lens system. I have one of the nicest cameras in the world (literally) and it can' focus too close with the standard type lenses. So, just hold it a bit further back and crop.

I should order some more modeling supplies, the store where I made previous purchases is having a sale, and the prices are LOW!!!!! :dopey:. Time to get back into gunpla:tup:.

What store?

I have to make it a point to order the gold leaf paint, thinner, and the brush sometime tomorrow today or Saturday.

You guys are making me want to get back into my Warhammer 40k stuff. The painting is quite different though since the figures are tiny, which results in a lot of dry brushing to exaggerate details. Looks like the Gundam models would be best suited to airbrushing, with all the large (relatively) smooth surfaces.

Trufax. The only (incredible) downfall is airbrushes are hundreds of bills, and that's without the compressor, which is also hundreds of dollars.

I bitch about it a lot as I really want one, but I have school bills to worry about.

http://www.hobbylinc.com/ I'm just gonna order some primer, sand paper, needle files, and putty.

Just checked my old painting station. All of the paint didnt dry up after about two years. Putty had dried up. Also got some primer and thinner left.

Forgot I ordered a $20 airbrush from them about three years ago :ill:. I just thought about it lol (sounds dumb). Slapping myself because I left it in my uninsulated shed. High chance its rusted. Never had a chance to use it since I didnt have a compressor fitting for it:ouch:.

Right now I need to learn about the different types of paint and their pros and cons. Also need to read up on clear coats.

Airbrushes dont cost that much. Neither do compressors( if you know how to shop :) ).

Understandable. I found myself in a similar situation when I started painting the grav tanks for my army, which have a lot of smooth surfaces.

Generally, can get the smoothness I wanted from using the paints in coats, going progressively thinner as I worked with them. And maybe highlighting would work out fairly well on the Gundam models, if just to make the figures appear more dramatic when on display.

^^ Sends a BIG ZAM + APSALAS III to Walter...

Highlighting works well; It brings out the parts that have been in contact with intense UV rays or any other heat source. 👍

I'll leave you to your own informed opinion about clear coating, but when it comes to paint, it's Mr. Hobby or GTFO.

For sprays (if you can't afford an airbrush for whatever reason - $20 airbrush...WUT?) it's Tamiya or GTFO.

I'm stuck in an airport at 4 am waiting for my next flight and this is the topic of conversation in here?? C'mon guys... I'm gonna fall asleep and miss my flight, dammit.

Let's change the conversation to anime box sets then! Anyone interested in R.O.D?

I like how R.O.D. has been priced relatively the same over the years. Also, our BD box which is almost identical to the Japanese one is much cheaper (Their release is $485.).

lolwut sorry bro but that stuff is for kids

So is Pokemon...

Wow, Oreimo's inflated prices are starting to get more ridiculous than anything I've seen before. Who's going to pay $2,000 for it? Not even the most hardcore of Japanese otaku would pay that price.

If you had the money you'd get it.

But even you are coming around less than usual. :(

R.O.D. is an amazing show. It's another one of those must-watch anime.

Asuka looks cute :3

Funny that my fingers *almost* typed out other names that I can blabber out like Osaka or Asakura.

Just thinking of Asakura gives me the shivers..it's like they gave her those massive brows to deliberately make her less attractive.

^That's not Asakura btw...That is Erio's mom :sly:

I like Erioland... not as a show, but because it includes a handful of service without being explicit or blatant.... more teasing than squeezing your face with it. 👍

Erio's mom is crazy. Also wasn't it Denpa Onna that had the screenshot I grabbed where it tells you to see EVA in theaters? That was funny.
