There's already a movie, so it's more like soon to be 5 seasons and 2 movies.

Initial D was, to me, an ill-conceived and dull mess of monotonous, predictable and boring racing sequences composed of samey camera shots and ropey CGI - and outside of the driving scenes, it's a bland, unfunny social drama with vapid characters and a dreary, tired plot.

I got a few episodes in, before realising that I was literally just watching it for its awesome soundtrack. Honestly, it feels as thought the whole thing was slapped together as an advertising vessel for the Super Eurobeat series.

There's only so long that I can stomach an anime whose sole redeeming quality is me being justifiably able to belt out "GONNA GET YOU, LIKE A SPACE BOY" along with the action. To say the least, Initial D was wholly uninspiring (and to think, they changed the soundtrack on the original English dub - I shudder at the thought).

Wanna rage your dream?

Soon to be six and a movie. I'm not wasting my time trying to respond to this. So what if I'm the only monkey here who enjoys Initial D (and a little Wangan, but haven't watched much of it)... If you don't like it, good; if you do, good. I was only asking out of curiousity; if you guys were SO against it, that if you found anyone else who enjoyed it, they're morons. That's all I'm asking.

I enjoy Initial D. Yeah it could be a lot better but I watch it for the cars.

I watch it for the cars too, but the writing is Dexter S5/6/7/8-level.

Everyone's trying to avoid giving a completely truthful response right now. poopfaces.

Which is saying a lot, considering Lucky Star is amongst the worse trash I've ever watched, along with Trigun. But yeah it is better.

Hey, watch it. I like Lucky Star. I'm sorry that you don't like it, but please don't call it trash.

I like Initial D partly because of the cars and most of the battles. It's just mindless fun to me. I don't need a full blown story to entice me into an anime.

^this. Doesn't seem right that you're steering people away from it just because you don't like it :/
Pun intended.

The real message Cano wants to convey to you is that there's other similar shows of greater meaning and lasting appeal.

That said, he can't say that anymore now after what he said to me.

The real message I want to convey is that it sucks like donkey droppings. And Lucky Star does too. I don't care if they think like that or not.

So I'm not allowed to tell someone a show isn't actually that great while it's perfectly acceptable that you do the same?

We don't take Cano seriously, though. Trigun is a classic. He calls it trash. He hasn't even seen it. So take from that what you will. You are a condescending $@%# but Cano is just ignorant. Also, stop complaining.

-> Well, just finished Interlude. It was somewhat a mind:censored: OVA series almost similar to the last two eps of Eva TV... :indiff:

-> Also finished up WataMote, SnK, & Kami Nomi for the season...

-> Now I will start watching Heavens Lost Property, Higurashi, & To Love Ru. ;)

The TokyoPop dub did change the soundtrack... and it sucks. Americanized names also sucked from that. Those are the biggest mistakes in my mind about Initial D.

Thanks for the support! :)

Good for you that you don't care I like Lucky Star. I'm just going to let this go; you go enjoy whatever your little heart desires.

So I'm not allowed to tell someone a show isn't actually that great while it's perfectly acceptable that you do the same?

Doesn't seem fair...

It's perfectly acceptable that you tell them it sucks. Just don't go around telling them they should refine their taste and watch better shows, and that if they had watched better shows, they'd know better. That is the annoying part we were discussing about your comments some time ago.

They wouldn't, and you know why? Because they like what they like, and it's fine, even if you (or me) think it sucks like donkey dropings 👍 if anime fandom was just relegeated to the good shows, there wouldn't even be a culture around it.

As much as I go around saying 99% of anime sucks, I still appreciate the place each show, even the realy bad ones like Trigun (hello Seph) have in the big map.

All that "x > y" stuff someone started some time ago. It's okay they do it, but not me?

That up-your-taste thing was only presented when I got a better grasp of what extaticus is into. You guys always want to take that in a negative way. That's equivalent to me not thinking highly of Evangelion or FLCL (and how I thought Clannad and Steins;Gate were reallly good shows) and then the lot of you come shooting me down for it. You disagreed with an opinion. I did too.

I bring this up because you guys essentially do what I do. I might say one or two words more, but the same underlying message is there and I don't feel its fair I'm the only on at fault. There's a mutual understanding amongst you guys since you've gotten to know each other better, but the newer members in here sure don't see it that way.

I just want to settle a recurring event that happens when a new face comes in. I feel like I'm being scapegoated right now.

I don't recall "this < that" arguments. I do recall discussing stuff and everyone giving their point of view, but I really can't recall something like that. Then again you know my memory sucks.

The up-your-taste thing is omnipresent, Andy. While discussing anime, taste is everything. Most people agree on one show or another but there are arguments over practically all the shows because the taste of everyone is different. Taste can change, and heck, I'll even get to say you can change people's taste and even form it if you want, but most people with any experience in watching anime will defend their taste because, well, it's theirs and they like what they like.

I absolutely, and believe me dude I absolutely agree with you when you say that watching shows will make your taste evolve, been there done that, but you can't smack people in the face with that. It takes a long while for that to happen and eventually people realize. Well at least I did, and I think you did too, but in the very moment, the taste of people is practically all they've got.

All you can do is recommend stuff and tell people your opinion on this and that (that is why saying something sucks like horse poo is absolutely and completely valid), but stop whinning about the taste of people. That is the annoying part.

Also, even if you have a well-evolved taste in anime, you can still watch trash. On purpose even. I watched Oreimo with you guys and despised it but liked it at the same time, and I'm now contemplating watching some lame-ass OVAs about glasses. Go figure.

And new members are new members. They can always ask why we like this or that, or think that this or that suck. The got in the party late, bad for them, but they have their chance, as all of us did.

I didn't mean to spark such a large argument in here....

It's fine, it's always like this in here and the other place 👍

Again, you're using that one only example to imply I do it all the time. As a matter of fact, I don't, and that's the only thing you're riding on to support your point when you haven't fully considered your own case. You tend to say a lot of things suck (about as frequently as me being unhappy about a show). Well how do you formulate such an opinion? You seen and know what makes a show more enjoyable, you've seen really good stuff to identify what isn't as good. Therefore, you have established in your mind that you have a level of taste that you have refined over time. That is no different from me.

You also tend to mention something sucks when you respond to someone liking said show. While that is an opinion, putting it in such a way that also degrades the opinion of the person you responded to. Yet I'm the only one who's at fault for "practicing" this? I've seen you tell others shows are trash, but it wasn't presented like an opinion. I started doing it too, and now I'm getting crap for it. Refer back to the beginning of this paragraph. That's not so different form me, now is it? This is what I ain't happy about.

You should see how they get about Asuka. Though AOS is right, he did start a few trends in this thread while everyone else ( probably including myself) talked about one thing.
