So I've gone and watched some more of Railgun S. Up to the end of the Sisters arc.

Holy crap, Episode 14 was something special. Even though Misaka had completely lost the plot, as soon as the tears came out and she saw sense I just got the feels so so much.

Much of the sequence before it was wonderful as well. Oh, and after it too. It's exactly what Railgun is all about. Yet it's much darker, so much more epic for it and yet still gets just the right balance of light-heartedness within.

I suppose I should say all of this has made Misaka one of my favourites now. Maybe more than anyone in the series, more than Uiharu even. For all of her flaws - especially one big one, her complete tsundere personality - she's still such an utterly lovable character, and a very sweet one too, with incredible emotion.

Touma is a cool dude, albeit not the best male protagonist I've ever seen, whilst I completely understand the love for Accelerator, though his total evil dominates any cool personality he shows for me. All of this makes me want to try Index as well, but from what I've seen of Index herself she is a total and utter nutcase who I suspect I would hate on a cellular level. Plus, I hate her seiyuu.

Finally, I now know what 10032 means...

Railgun is awesome. What I love about it as how it is able to cater to the different viewing audiences. On one hand you have a lovable, cute, and fun style that immediately hooks you in, and then you have the dark, critical and deep end of the story which comes in at good timing - not forced, shallow or weak. It's structured in such a way that it's believable in the sense that it's how you would react to finding out your biological genes were used as a platform - and then the understanding sense of protection like family.

I never was really a fan of Index. It was... meh, but simply because Index didn't interest me as a supporting protagonist. However I recommend the movie though, the cast of Railgun had enough of a presence that made it enjoyable for me.

Misaka is alright, but Misaki is best.

Well, according to GTPlanet, it says I posted twice in this thread- both times just recently in this thread. So I'm new to this thread. This post is (obviously) my third here. I'm hardly in the Movies and TV forum. Only other place I remember posting in this forum was in the thread on ponies. So I never been into the anime thread previously to post.

In my first post, I noted I saw my first-ever episode of RWBY. I learned some time ago that RWBY stands for the four protagonists- Ruby, Weiss, Blake, and Yang. The kind of action here is almost kind of like a mix of Final Fantasy and Guilty Gear. Again- I am not seriously indulged in animé, so I don't know as much as I'd like to about anime. I do still think RWBY is very cool. Just don't get on the bad side of any of these hunters and huntresses.

Anyone here watch The Seven Deadly Sins? I finished watching it last week and as a shounen, it's pretty good. Probably around HxH level as far as I can recall. But there's a couple of flaws that made me put off the show sometimes.

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good. Hawk is, by far, the best character.

I've seen a bit of seven deadly sins. Didn't pay full attention so I have no opinion on it.

I should rewatch Humanity has Declined.

Somehow, this thread has been lying dormant for 2 days. This cannot be.

In any case, I finished Railgun S today.
The last bit wasn't quite as good as the Sisters Arc but making something as good as that was always going to be hard. Mostly it was all very frenetic with a whole gamut of emotions coming at you every minute. In fact it came at me too fast for my liking. It wasn't very well-balanced. Other than that it was mostly just reiterating what all the characters are like. Misaka and Uiharu are sweet and wonderful, Kuroko is hilarious, Febri is cute and everyone else is mostly alright, except the evil people who are evil, and Frenda, who is a complete bitch. Hate Frenda.

All in all, easy 9/10. Worthy of my own personal Anime Hall of Fame.

Hate to be posting Aquors, but I've gotta say; why does Chika always look like she's on some sort of drug? Hope Honoka's not the influence behind that...

Focusing on this batch of pics for two very "important" reasons;
  • That "Multi-maiden" picture is missing an picture with the subtitle "Iron Maiden" and such is greatly upseting. You missed a great chance, whoever posted that group of pictures;
  • Maybe Chika had too much sugar in her drinks and now can't get out of her cutesy idol face. Being the leader of a female idol group has its quirks, after all...

Yeah, I thought it was pretty good. Hawk is, by far, the best character.

I think Diane takes the cake for me. But Hawk is pretty close. King I can vouch with sometimes too.

Check it out, man. It's a pretty solid shounen.

Don't you just love Zoomed character model failures, I seriously thought this was fake when I first saw this :lol::

Ok, so this been a long time coming for me, and I'm just gonna go ahead and ask. I've not really been big into anime. Apart from stuff I used to watch as a little kid on Toonami and the occasional dubbed-over anime movie, the only ones I've seen recently and invested time into would be Initial D, Wangan Midnight, and the Valkyria Chronicles anime adaptation (cause I enjoyed the game). At this point I'm willing to give it a shot, but I'm not really sure where to start. What would be the best starting point to just kinda ease myself into it? Should I watch early ones or newer ones; the mainstream stuff or more obscure (but not overly wierd) ones...I'm at a loss. Obviously, suggestions are appreciated. Thanks. 👍

Well... anime is a pretty broad medium, so it's kinda hard to give blind recommendations without knowing what kind of things interest you. It'd be like dropping into a movie thread asking for recommendations; One person might tell you Transformers and another might tell you Schindler's List. But... I'll give it a shot anyway.

Cowboy Bebop is highly regarded and pretty much nails the sweet spot of being entertaining, action-filled and funny while also being clever and poignant. It's considered a great starting point for anime by many people, and I'd agree. It's a bit older, but it has aged quite well. Also, it's got a killer soundtrack.

But if I were you, I'd just check out whatever seems interesting. Do avoid popular series that are extremely long, though. Naruto, Dragon Ball, Bleach, One Piece... they might be kinda fun to watch, but they're overrated by their fandoms, and their excessive lengths aren't at all justifiable.

Bang.

Capeta is another automotive anime worth watching. Works by Ghibli and AKIRA are good starters too. Might I also suggest Ore Monogatari!!, because it's downright hilarious.

I found Capeta felt a bit too juvenile for my tastes.

I've never seen it, but I've just seen it sworn upon as being the best automotive anime.

If you want to dabble into manga, I'd highly recommend Over Rev!!. I'll never shut up about it until it gets it's deserved animation adaption.
