I probably should've just kept it to myself anyway as it hasn't really accomplished much and I knew in advance that personal opinions would be impossible to change. I don't know what side of the bed I woke on yesterday but I was in 'that' sort of mood for reasons I can't figure out...

I wouldn't say you came here on the mission to change our minds. I also wouldn't come to the conclusion that several of the dude here are defending the idol topic either.

Are you basically saying that you feel a show so poorly written shouldn't deserve the popularity it has?

All of them for me. Though it has been a while since i've watched his past films. 5cm per second was really good, thus an opener for many of Shinkai's films.

Actually I watched 5cm per Second by luck on some streaming site and decided to try a look at it based on my curiousity how good is it as many people said that time and my goodness it was fantastic. Never regretting my time watching to such a gorgeous anime with high amount of details and backgrounds. What a feast to the eyes.

Personally, rewatching them in a lossless format like Blu-Ray will do even better in terms of appreciating the visuals (as is the case for many anime that lead in the visuals department). In the case of Your Name., the Blu-Ray version won't come out until October I believe. If it's mastered properly and accurately, watching it again in that format will be quite something to behold.

There was public screening back in December but I can't catch up with it because it was the same time when final test were held...:banghead: :( quite unfortunate. But as you said would be better to wait for the Blu-ray version came out, and that's what I'm doing right now. Also, thanks for the advice! :D 👍

I saw it in cinemas, twice in fact - the first time I've watched a movie twice while it was in the theatres.

Found this while browsing through Youtube. It's a short anime about... birds... Pretty good though and it has English subs!

Can I just ask..... Is there anyone here from the UK (or even Europe since Region 2/B) that has any DVD or Blu Ray release of the Initial D anime?

I really want to get it all, each stage, but there just doesn't seem to have been a European release for this. There are releases from Singapore, Japan, etc but I need to know what would work with European region coding.

I think the Madman releases are what you're after. They seem to be the PAL distributors.

Syanago Collection is returning! (via Manga and/or Guide Book-form.)

I'll just go now...

You can return to your regularly-scheduled Discussion about, Animes that I'm not fully aware of. (Other than, Initial D and Love Live.)

Good for you then! How about the game itself? Or now they just adapt this game turn into manga?

My guess that, the game may adapt into manga, but I need more information about it. (Plus, a Japanese-English translation of the Tweet without using Google Translate because it's too wonky and doesn't translate every single thing, in my own experience.)

But, yeah, I'm glad that Syanago is making a comeback in Manga-form. I've waited 6 months to see a current update, about the game, without looking a various amounts of fan-art in Twitter and Pixiv. Plus, I also love, how cute the R32 GT-R and S13 Silvia look together, in the First Cover. (Left image.)

EDIT: Apparently, both books are being featured in Comiket (the Comic Market) 92, in August 11-13. That is the only thing, I've understood when I translated the Tweet. That, and maybe one of the books are pretty much, a Guide Book of which types of Cargirls are featured and the additional Stages' information, from the game. Also, it mentions a Syanago/Initial D-crossover, or something.

'Exhibit information We have decided to exhibit at Comike C 92! ◎ Your club "Yunin Automotive Industry" Sunday East District "or" block -28a. Mail order (planned) · Car data collection? · Car Quests 4 Frames · Initial car D And More!'
-Google Translate

(I swear, Google is hardly trying, anymore. This is why, I want an English Wiki, for Syanago Collection.)

Love Live take over? I wonder if its going to be longer when Haruhi took over...Or when Asuka took over..
I am just for a show now...

...What have I just seen?

Well... just typical Japanese personificaton craze I guess. Actually I find it interesting to turn this into full fledged anime  Definitely gonna watch it for car reference :D

Also you can see in a glance the transforming girl had rotary engine in it...

Edit : Found another related video this time with different girl and type of vehicle...

Also found the official website (in Japanese) if someone interested :
http://henkeigirls.com/

(Looks like a parody of Transformers, but with loads of moe and cringy fanservice... Still I might watch it just for the sake of reference and humor lol)

I rarely watch Cartoon Network. Somewhat familiar with its storyline, I think "Attack on Titan" is very cool. Great action and animation.

Are we doing best lolis now?

That's my boy for including Shinobu. Who is the second girl? Need to know for scientific reasons.

I still need to watch Kizu. But Shinobu started to dropping down the tier list for me after a while. We'll see if Kizu proves to save the day.

It's like I don't even know you anymore. You talk like An-dee, look like him, same cool avatars... Changed your cologne, I'm into it though.. But I just don't recognize you.

You've changed, man.

Already have three waifus and one them is my main waifu. Does that sound bad?

Kid let me tell you a story. A story about grown men carving out their own little nook on the internet to buy, sell, and debate waifus. I used to have quite the collection my son. It's all gone now. A distant relic.

Waifus will come and go.
You'll find new girls and fawn over them endlessly.
But just remember who #1 is and life will fall into place.

DK
I miss the days of the Eva waifu wars.

Do you still talk to yourself? No disrespect intended. I miss you DK. I don't miss the other sides of you, but I guess it became semi-slightly-possibly-sorta-maybe-kinda-vaguely-probably ( the views in this message are not legally binding) somewhat endearing, after a couple of years.

Totally get you. And I think that's where someone like 2B will start breaking that barrier for most people.

As someone who is planning on playing Nier: Automata and knows nothing of the story: 2B is my ideal woman and I want her forever.
[/QUOTE]

it took half a day for this thread to return to it's normal Love Trash talk. I ain't even looking into it again.

When will you finally admit your feelings for me? And Love Live.

Well I kind of expected the mods to take action on my first knee-jerk post. Since I'm not a coward, I shall now explain in detail why I think Love Live is a bad anime.

I've spent a lot of time on the internet complaining about every popular show from left to right. Idols, mecha, shallow-brained shows, what have you. Turns out it's primarily pointless. You listed reasons for not liking Love Live because you wanted to shake the ground a little bit. To call out and wonder why nobody thinks the way you do.

We do. Love Live is terrible. Idol shows are bad. Who even cares though? Go watch some cute girls get flustered and chase their dreams. You owe it to yourself to appreciate these trash anime, for you and you alone! I could write pages upon pages of why every anime is bad, and all my reasons will fall flat inevitably. Sword Art Online, Mirai Nikki, Fate Stay Night(original anime), Attack on Titan, and Black Butler are all terrible. I've done my fighting about them and so many more.

At some point you just got to stare at a picture of Lady Phantomhive at 3 in the morning for no morally inexcusable reasons whatsoever.
Just go get a Nico body pillow.
Buy all the merchandise and learn every dance.
Jump off a bridge, leaving behind a note saying Love Live was a mistake.
I guarantee you everyone will understand your final plight.
The message carved into your grave: He couldn't handle the MOE.

https://myanimelist.net/animelist/perswante is my MAL if anyone wants to add me or recommend things. Comment your recommendations on my profile to get me to check faster. I actually rarely check or update my list, so I need some motivation.

Actually, speaking of recommendations...

I kinda want to watch something that isn't slice of life or action. Any comedies?

Ah, that's the Loliblade I know.

One in particular I recommend is Barakamon. It has a more clever and mature sense of humor than any anime I've seen, in full and from clips, and the dub delivers on that sense of humor really well. I don't think an anime has ever made me laugh as much. Drawback is that it's a slice of life though, but cute anime girls, lolis, and moe aren't its focus at least.

But all this is coming from a guy who hasn't deviated much from mainstream and highly rated anime so there are most likely some hidden gems out there. I kinda want to watch some more comedies too so I need recommendations as well.

That was what I was trying to avoid. I'll take a look at Barakamon. Cheers!

I recommended Shinsekai Yori to a friend who gave up on Steins;Gate by the first episode (only because he was like "I don't get what's going on- this show is stupid").... so if SSY managed to keep him beyond Ep 1.....

I'd say Aria or Psycho Pass or Brotherhood or Ghost in my Shell, but you don't want those apparently...

Can I suggest Bakuman, Shokugeki no Soma, Monster, Spice & Whoops, Steins;Gate, Ping Pong, Death Parade, Desu Note, and possibly Seto no Hanayome?

What. The. Actual. Something. Something. SOMETHING. Is. That?

I haven't watched it, but hot dog, no freakin' way. It looks like something that's under the helmets of Daft Punk, but it's a rotary engine of all things! Just don't turbo that 'girl' up or she'll blow up... unless there's some extensive tuning involved.

I always glanced over The Boy and the Beast on google play. How is it?

I'll get back to you after I watch it, though I assume it's great given Mamoru Hosoda's track record.

Can I suggest Steins;Gate

No.

Anyway...

Just watched Your Name. Excellent. Didn't really anticipate the direction it was gonna go, so kinda caught me off guard. Got kinda clumsy with its emotional ploys towards the tail end, but I'd be lying if I said they didn't have any impact... just subdued impact compared to some of the middle-ish stuff. Plus the very end...

Your Name's crossed paths ending was very similar to that of 5 cm/s, but played completely straight for a pure happy ending instead of going for bittersweet. In that sense, Your Name complements 5cm quite nicely. And I'd say it's very close to being as good as 5cm... though I think 5cm still narrowly wins, if only by virtue of its shorter runtime keeping Makoto Shinkai's heartstring-hungry dogs on a tighter leash.

I asked this previously, but I'm hearing Your Name. offers an open ending. Not sure how that's possible, seeing they recognized each other (also they felt each other when walking past one another at that overpass). Though the film missed the part where they actually say each other's name.

To me I really liked how the film opens. It's got a good hook to it, plus with that slice-of-life montage bits.

edit: And the music... It's excellent!

Somehow I feel knowing their name bears no real impact on the message of the story, and that leaving it out prevents the "oh. okay" response at the end

Alright what do you guys think of this :

Imo this is the best KyoAni anime in terms of graphics and animation so far (I thought Hibike Euphonium is good enough, but gosh this one is on another level...). Looks like they stepping up the game from what it looks like is going to be serious story (I wish). Can't wait for it. Hopefully there is some information about it at KyoAni festival this October as from what I read there is going to be advanced screening due to release :

Also, I'm about to watch Koe no Katachi. I will giving my review soon after I watch it 👍

Edit : Did anyone here hyped for this?

Now that was a surprise... I thought this is over but no. Glad to see this hilarious anime back once again and I think a movie would be a great closure to the entire story (or if they planned another season but that's unlikely imo)
