Iron Maiden has lost another member of the family, Steve Gadd. Steve was Nicko McBrains Drum Tech for nearly 30 years. Not much else is known how it happened or anything else, I just saw that Steve Harris had "RIP Steve Gadd" on his Facebook page.

That's also a shame. One loss is hard enough, but another... Sheesh. Any not so thoughtful person would think... "he was only a drum tech.." But the matter is, that Steve Gadd worked with them for 30 years. Of course it's a true loss. RIP Steve Gadd.

So I'm looking at getting some Iron Maiden vinyls, I just need to find them locally. The nearest record store I can find that sells them is near enough 70 miles away!

you can buy pretty much every vinyl they have ever offered (for the most part) directly from their official site and have it shipped to you home. This includes full picture discs and everything. All brand new, freshly pressed.

Any idea what sort of price range they would be in?

Also, it's Post #666!

Iron Maiden announce new album out next year!!!!!!!!

@Tom

Vinyls for them, every single one, Iron Maiden though the Final Frontier are going for about $20-$25 a piece. Thisd includes the cover and it's a full picture disc directly printed from the master tapes according to their website. However scrounging Ebay should get you them really drit cheap (about $5-$10 a pop). CD's are cheaper honestly.

Anyone else hear that Nicko's wife Rebecca McBrain just got arrested for battery against her neighbrs after she reportedly tried stabbing them with a decorative lance, and then proceeded to beat them with burnt logs from their firepit? LOL

She was held on $3,000 bond and her mugshot is HILARIOUS

Also I never knew Bruce Dickinson was once homeless and that Dave Murray was a very violent man in a street gang.

That is brilliant, 2014 will be a good year! I'll certainly have a scout round for some vinyls as well, my family may have a few knocking around.

I know I cannot wait to see what direction the band takes....they are mo re popular now than their height of the '80s and the new albums are putting Powerslave to shame in sales... Hell the Final Frontier alone is one of their best selling and went #1 in 28 counties almost instantly.

Can't wait.

Ask around. Best bet at this point.

I would imagine it would be more progressive (not a bad thing!) but I'd love to see them take it back to the Beast/Piece of Mind era!

That's not a bad thing but Powerslave era would be better IMO. Personally I think they should go back to synths if they keep up the prog stuff. Final Frontier wasn't as much prog as AMOLAD was excluding Starblind, but if they stay that route I'd like to see them use synths agian. That was always my favorite with the Powerslave stuff right behind it.

I know it's a love/hate thing among Maiden fans alike, but I would really like to hear Janick through synths...I think that would be cool. The way they play right now in that prog style would easily fit in with songs like Alexander the Great or Seventh Son of a Seventh Son. Granted they use keyboards but it they pull a Seventh Son agian and use both, obviously not overused and likely a filler, I think the next album could be absolutely fantastic.Adrain said before those songs are not songs, but more like pieces of music.

That's part of the reason why I jumped for joy when I found Somewhere in Time and Seventh Son B-sides...more synth era stuff.

Hell I wish they would have studio recorded Walking on Glass.

I have a feeling Iron Maiden is going to destroy everything else metal-y on the charts next year and win a grammy or 2. Given the way they sell records now I wouldn't consider it out of the question. Especially since the Final Frontier did it, even beating out Megadeth for that matter. Didn't see that one coming.

I think to date they've sold over 120 million albums.

120 million? That's insane!

Personally, I'd like to see them move towards slightly shorter songs. Although I like Final Frontier, some of the songs can tend to drag on. Otherwise, it's Maiden and I'll surely be happy.

I'm sure with all the illegal downloads if they were counted it would be more like 500 million  But yeah that's a pretty insane amount for not getting any real radio airplay or any air time on TV. I think I've heard Run to the Hills and the Trooper like once or twice on the radio in the last 10 years.

However one local station does a hair metal segment (or used to rather) on Sunday nights with the occasional Can I Play With Madness or Number of the Beast. Nothing too heavy. Think I even saw Be Quick or Be Dead once but never actually heard them because I didn't listen to frequently. Dee Snider from Twisted Sister used to host it.

I agree about some shorter songs but I disagree about them dragging on. I've never heard one that seemed to drag on that didn't have a purpose. They were always well thought out so that you didn't want them to end.

A Matter of Life and Death could get like that if you weren't too fond of the style but I didn't think it was band. I'm a huge fan of their new stuff as well but I think (besides the "meh" production on Bruce's Vocals) that Dance of Death is probably the best out of the new stuff, of course arguabley, but that's because theres a good variance in lengths of tracks, all very catchy.

I'm not saying they need to produce another Dance of Death album, something similar would be nice but I'd prefer if they went back to their '80s style a bit more. Steve has said their new sound is like Dream Theater but from the '70s.

The Final Frontier wasn't too bad either with the lengths of songs. A Matter of Life and Death I think was the longest. Bruce has said they don't really care what fans think about that. If they want a long album where every song is 8 minutes then they will do it.

One thing I'd wish they would really do is go back to the guitar harmonies they are known for and have a bit cleaner production. I know they are going for that Live sound but that to me is something that cannot be replicated in a studio. They serisouly need to go back to the triple guitar harmonies like Somewhere in Time. Please don't pull the '90s stuff and do it with no backing guitar track either. It made it sound flat. I feel a backing track gives texture to the music as a whole. It only works on some songs. They use harmonies now but they just aren't quite as memorable as the old ones.

Keep it fresh boys, I seriously cannot wait for it. Lets get another Powerslave or Somewhere in Time. Just a waiting game now. you can bet your as I'll be keeping up on this.

Oh...Metallica is back in the stuido as well, taking things slow if anyone cares. They are doing it even with the 3D movie and Orion Festival going on. I commend them, that's a lot to handle. I gues they are going to have more shorter, to the point songs similar to how the Black album was set up....that could be either a good or bad thing depending on what you are a fan of. I liked it as well as their early stuff.

2014 is going to be one HELL of a year for music.

And if Judas Priest takes it really slow (apparently they're in studio now) we might have them to add to the 2014 list. :D

I actually can understand that some songs may appear to drag on. Isle of Avalon is a good song, but I do think it gets a little repetitive, and so does the Talisman. I mean, repeating the idea is fine, but there needs to be something else added, or taken out. A new guitar line playing with the vocals or something.

I loved AMOLAD and TFF, some of the songs on there in my opinion were simply incredible! But I do agree with you, I don't really like The Man Who Would Be King that much but I love The Talisman and When The Wild Wind Blows

Anyone who would think that has ZERO appreciation for what happens "behind the scenes," and their opinion on the issue is immediately null and void.

Requiescat in pace, Steve Gadd. I hope you and Clive are enjoying a pint or three together right now, swapping stories.

Figured you guys would get a kick out of this. I know I did.

Language warning and all that, but in a Maiden thread somehow I don't think you'll mind.

I heard that their new beer has sold in record amounts. And  at Dave Murray's face in that picture haha. That was a great article.

Bruce has faced off in fencing with Olympic silver medal winner.

Don't forget that altercation Nicko himself had with a security guard in a parking garage at an Iron Maiden concert in New York in 2003.

And here's the story about his wife's arrest.

Exactly. Unfortunately there are people like that though.

And...

It almost looks like a mask for Bruce.
