Fosters

I've had a bit of a go in the upcoming combo - I don't really like this car. Sounds like a lawn mower and understeers like one too! Anyone have a tune that helps with this?

Conversely I tried out the Ginetta G55 GT4 at the same track and it was BRILLIANT.

Odd, I quite enjoy this car. I've had a crush on it since GT5 but never got to race it (IIRC it was rather expensive so not many people owned it). It's AWD which sometimes likes to understeer but I didn't notice it being too bad. After years of listening to GT's vacuum cars I seem to be somewhat immune to poor sounds, when I car sounds really good I notice it but when it sounds bad it doesn't even really register.

I wonder which kind of Corvette this was in the video?

So tomorrow's update is sounding fairly robust. Let's hope that everything will still work as planned for Saturday's race, since we're using all stock content we shouldn't have any problems there (though lap times and setups may not be the same as before). Doesn't look like anything major is happening for MP so hopefully we'll be ok. If/when you guys get time to dig into it let me know if you encounter something that could cause us issues.

All in all it's looking like a rather solid update and gives me hope that things are continuing to move in the right directions. 👍

Indeed, there are a few changes coming and I haven't even practiced apart from that very first quick session I did. To be honest I don't even know if I'll make this one. Bit of a busy weekend planned. I'll try though

We are back to our original time slot today so the server will be ready in just over 8 hours from now. I don't think the update introduced any real variables for MP so we should be good to go with the usual procedure. Hope to see you on track!

Should be on tonight. Have a sore shoulder so have had to turn ffb down quite a bit so it's not too painful which is a bit weird! And haven't got to grips with this car at all. Really like Imola though so looking forward to it.

Decided to have a Final Four party today so unfortunately I will not be able to attend.

The server is go. It's been windy as hell here all day and my power has blinked out several times over the last couple hours, so if I suddenly disappear just keep calm and send beer. It's only been out for a few seconds at a time and it's been stable the last 30 minutes or so, hopefully it won't be an issue. But go ahead and race without me if the worst happens.

OP has been updated. We're going to try that new little Fiat (step 2) version at the newly facelifted Tsukuba circuit. It's a fun little car on that fun little track.

Nice to see some new entries on the Wall of Fame. :D

Wiz
Neil is @PzR Slim correct?

Nice laps in race 2. That 57.335 is very impressive. 👍
Thanks Wiz. Yeah it all came together in that 2nd race. I didn't do a great deal of practice and really didn't like the car too much but the extra practice and racing on the night really helped and I actually enjoyed it by the end. Just wish I could tune, I literally have no idea. Ive always been quick enough to get by without it but I'm sure I would be quicker if I could. So unless some kind chap like yourself provides a tune I just always race stock in case I make it worse!

One thing I noticed from the first race was that you seemed able to brake much later than me. I was braking so early for the first corner. Did you make any changes that helped the braking?

I'm not a particularly good tuner myself. I know enough to make a tight car loose and a loose car tight. Beyond that I just click stuff and see what happens.

So to answer your question, if I did do anything to help the braking it definitely wasn't on purpose.

Good news! A small patch came out today that apparently has addressed the collisions online and early reports seem promising. Hopefully this means a small bumper tap won't result in insta-spin any more, like what happened when I accidentally tapped @mister dog last weekend (sorry señor).

Yes... blame it on the code :D

It really was, it was the tiniest of taps and your car wiggled just a smidgen but then it slowly started drifting sideways and eventually spun around. In other games, or real life, that probably wouldn't have happened.

I know just teasing you :P

I know. It was just a good illustration of how screwy the collisions were. If you bumped door-to-door you were probably ok but even a tiny bumper-to-bumper tap ended in tears. Hopefully we won't have to worry about that anymore. 👍

So, what your guys' opinion on the club so far? Any ideas on things I can do better or differently? The last couple weeks had lower than normal turnouts, I know both those weekends happened to have a lot of real motorsports on the telly and also saw the return of nice weather (check local listings) and I presume those were contributing factors, but I want to make sure everyone is having fun and wants to continue participating. Overall the turnout has been as good or better than I hoped for, I know we don't have the largest pool of AC drivers here on GTP so to get 10+ people for the first several events was fantastic and I thank everyone for making it happen.

Of course there could be other factors involved, like unappealing car/track combos or the having same people at the front all the time. But my main goal with the club is just to make it a place where GTP AC forum lurkers can get together for a laugh every now and then, for now I don't intend for it to be too serious. The aim is just to have fun with our virtual toys, even if it's not your favorite car/track or you know you'll be in the mid-pack all night.

But I'm certainly open to any ideas of how to make things as fun as possible. Of course we don't have a lot of options in AC so it may require some out of the box thinking. Leveling the playing field and keeping the pack closer together would be one way to increase enjoyment. The only easy way to do that is add ballast to the fast guys, but I don't want them to be offended at being slowed down and as a result decide not to participate anymore. Or I could have two cars for each event, a faster one and a slower one (maybe 1-1.5 seconds difference between the two) and the fast guys take the slow cars and everyone else takes the faster car, create a bit of parity. Might be hard to do that with our limited number of cars though. Really wish we had reverse grids to make the second race more fun.

Also, do you guys like having a different car each race or would you rather stick with one car for multiple events? I kinda prefer to stick with one for a few events, you get to really know the car that way and in theory get a bit better at driving/tuning it each time you take it out. It makes it easier to just pick up and go too, if you didn't have much time to practice at least you already have a base feeling for the car since you've raced it before. Since we're kind of limited in car selection (I stay away from the super fast cars) it would make things a bit easier to stick with one car for multiple events. We could even pair up some of the cars to make a few different mini-series that we rotate through, just have each group listed in the OP and say "This time around we're racing the Group 2 Series", everyone grabs their favorite from the group.

Just tossing things out there. I'm fine with how things are but I'm open to changing things up a bit too if it keeps interest up.

Personally, I really haven't had the time to practice any of the latest races' combos, that's mostly why I haven't joined in two weeks now. Also other races with the same schedule that are part of full championships are a big reason.

On a side note, I don't really have any complaints about the way you run things, it's perfectly fine.

I think we'd all be ok with you showing up with no practice. No worries though, happy to have you when you can make it. 👍
