I think the variation in cars/circuit is good every week, otherwise it might get dull fast if you don't enjoy a particular car.
We're doing fine for a beginning league, some days turnout will be good and others not so much, but i like the relaxed atmosphere to it all.

I'm not really concerned about the turnout at this point, just thought it was a good time to talk about ideas. I wanted to start really simple and see how things went for the first few months, make sure there was some interest before putting a whole lot of effort/planning into it. But I'm all ears if we can make any changes or additions to spice things up. I still want to keep things fairly simple and relaxed for now but I'm sure there are some things we can explore. I've heard a lot of talk lately about elimination style qualifying, maybe we can look into that!

For me it's been a mix of real-life/timing/other interests/etc.

I do plan to show up Sat (because Laguna Seca), and plan to show for Wiz's GT3-test tomorrow (because GT3 yuh), but other weeks I've just had interest in other things.

One thing I did want to suggest for a future event, just because I like the DP, but it also kinda plays into that 'multi-class' split you talked about...

Corvette DP's vs. Oreca FML09's?

No changes to suggest, I've only made it to 2 or 3 races due to the timeslot being difficult sometimes.

EDIT:
I had an older version of Laguna, so I updated to the one in the OP and can't get it to work. A pop-up comes up and says "ERROR: laguna : TRACK NOT FOUND". This mod track is a little different than all the others I've downloaded, in that it doesn't start off with the track-name folder being at the top-level -- both 7zip and winRAR show the top-level being the folder itself, containing ai, data, texture, and ui folders, and the laguna_seca.kn5 and map.png files. I guessed at the track-name top-level folder as laguna and laguna_seca, but keep getting the same error.

@BrandonW77 in your ProgFiles(x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\content\tracks folder, what did you name the new folder you created to copy the contents of the .rar file into?

Looks like lots of comments/problems similar to mine in the comments left for that track.
Name the folder laguna_seca and copy contents into it.

Also need an online room setup for practice, @Wiz. :)

Barely able to break into the 1'39s (1'39.959), but I'm sure there are seconds out there. I lowered the tire pressures to 16 and still couldn't get them out of blue in the new tire app.

And don't go for the sausages. :yuck:

I'll look into it to see how they drive and compare to each other. This probably would have been a good combo to run at Laguna since they race there for realz. I've been looking for something to race at Road America, another for realz IMSA circuit, so maybe these would be a good fit.

Odd, I don't recall having any problems with it but I've had it installed for a while so maybe I just don't remember it. Hope this won't cause any checksum issues. Thanks for pointing it out and explaining how to fix it in case anyone has issues. 👍

Wiz
Anyone planning on practicing today?

At some point yeah, still don't have Laguna installed and can't shake my 'GT3GT3GT3' mindset (re-testing 'em since the update), but at some point I'll be there to practice.

EDIT* - oh 🤬, it starts in like ten minutes :scared:

Haven't done a single lap of practice due to Dirt Rally, Quantum Break and Dark Souls III! Will try and get a few laps practice in before the race.

Yeah that was some ridiculously fun, close, fair and skill full racing. Three wide through the corkscrew is a first for me and amazing that we all came out the other side unscathed!

I will not be around for the event after the Fiat races, I'll be at the IndyCar Indy GP at IMS. So I've scheduled a track day at the Nords Tourist for that day using a handful of modern street cars (car list in OP). I'll open the server before I leave that morning, set it to practice mode and just let it run all day. 👍

Oh, I was planning on having 3-4 of each car available. I can probably add one or two more if there are any requests (street cars, preferably). @Kurei you want me to toss the MP4dash12C on there?

I would go for some lightweight british metal as well. The Lotus are very good for that roaster.

Also, on the 30th we will have two events? The track day and the Abarth race?

Yeah actually, I've been meaning to give the street car some luv, see and 'feel' all the tech-stuff underneath it work since v1.5 came out, that'd be a good way to do it, and plenty of time to get to it (all day) if things come up. 👍

We'll have two Abarth races like normal, the track day will be two weeks after that on May 14. I'll get a Lotus and the Macca on the list. Any particular Lotus you'd prefer?

Ah gotcha, in the OP says that the track day will on the 30th as well.

The Exige S V6 is probably the best, but the Exige 240R is good as well and if you want something a bit faster I'd go for the Evora GTE road car. Those are my top 3. I'll let you decide :P

So, last weekend on TS we were discussing the possibility of putting the GVRC on the official AC forums. They have a section for clubs/leagues and since there's a lot more AC racers there it should (in theory) help us get more drivers on the grid. They do things a bit differently, they don't want any discussion in the club/league thread (all posts have to be approved by a mod and generally only important things like announcements will be approved) so the club admin has to have an external website/forum to host discussions and chit-chat. I have asked, and confirmed, that our thread here on GTP will suffice for that and was also given the green light to create a GVRC thread on there as long as it provides a link back to this thread to house any discussions.

So, what do you guys think? Since all discussion and activity would still be in this thread you guys wouldn't notice anything different besides an influx of new drivers (hopefully). I think the format and racing are good enough to attract/keep some interest and hopefully keep the grids full and the time slot seems to be the best compromise to suit people from around the globe. I'll probably put together a little highlight video from our past races to post in the OP as a bit of advertising. I don't really see any downsides, even if it only gets us 5-6 more drivers I think it would be worth doing.

Great news, nice that they allowed us to do our business here too.
Thanks for the effort Brandon 👍, hopefully we'll get a nice variety of skill levels with new joiners.

My Vive arrived on Monday so I've done nothing but walk around virtual worlds all week! Will be there tonight, looking forward to these powerful beasts!

P.S. Come on Kunos, add Vive support soon!
