And 🤬 my friends that cancelled the plans last hour. For 🤬 sake. I still have to much to do to make it to the second race. Dammit...

Too bad, it was a hoot! That car is like a baby Yellowbird, a real handful considering how slow it is.

@Johnnypenso comeback this evening? You're getting to addicted to Rocket league! :D

Rocket League sucked me in like a young Darth Vader:lol:. I can feel the darkside losing it's grip soon though. I discovered hockey in RL and have been playing that almost exclusively since and I feel I'm finally getting the hang of it. It's a lot of fun when you are playing with guys that really understand the rhythm of the game and it's most important element - defense. There's a matchmaking system and now that I've got some time under my belt it seems to pair me up mostly with guys that can really play.

Physical sports? At your age? I'd wager working out for the GVRC suits a geezer best.

That's hockey in Rocket League, not hockey in Real Life:lol:. Although I have played hockey in real life off and on since I was a lad, I haven't actually hit the ice for 2 years or so now:grumpy:. It's really tough to get ice time around here for pickup hockey any time before midnight on Friday or Saturday. I took up jogging again a few months ago as well:lol:

Sorry I've been absent last couple of weeks, I haven't done anything in AC at all since becoming addicted to iRacing, and so I've been forgoing doing any sort of practice. AC is quite different to iRacing so when I get on it it takes a bit to get reacquainted.

Anyway I'll try harder to stay involved. I do apologise, I enjoy our races and talks.

No worries, I figured we'd see less of you as the dark side continued to strengthen its hold on you. I wish I could enjoy iRacing but I find the cars to feel very odd and unforgiving and some (a lot) of the people who race it are........well, I just didn't care for them or the elitist attitude. I also find the site layout and format to be utterly confusing and the pick up races have such a solitary feel to them because you usually don't know anybody on the grid. The stress associated with the license system, while it adds that extra element that all other sims lack, I found more frustrating than enjoyable as I was constantly accumulating negative ratings due to other peoples mistakes (even after I had left the rookie class). Plus, at the time I was new to PC sim racing and the amount of preparation and knowledge required was above my pay grade so I just put it on the shelf to explore at a later date. I'm sure I'll get back to it at some point, but no immediate plans for that.

I've just been busy fuelling my GT3-addiction as of late, driving pretty much all of them and finding their strengths & weaknesses. (including mods + 1 GT1 Murcielago I found)

I have yet to try the Ginetta, so maybe that'll entice me for a bit, if I can block-out Blancpain @ Brands Hatch on YT :D

Edit* Had my dates wrong, so long as that Sat stays open, I'll try to make the 'GT4' event.

It's pretty good for a mod car. I noticed one minor issue with it, doesn't really affect how it drives/feels/performs, I'm curious if anyone else will discover it. It's very easy to drive, almost too easy, but should hopefully make for some good racing. It doesn't have LOD's but apparently can be raced online ok, we've had small enough crowds lately that hopefully it won't be an issue.

I'm actually starting to run out of cars to choose for the club. I probably won't ever run many of the open-wheel cars or hyper cars because most are hard to drive and probably wouldn't make for good racing since we have a wide range of skill here (and most just don't interest me). I've stayed away from street cars so far but I'll probably feature a few of those soon. Mod cars usually feel odd to me but there are a few I like and plan to feature in the near future. Most mod cars are still on outdated tires though, I'm trying to stick to V7 tires if possible. But before too long I'll probably need to start recycling some of the cars we've already used. I'm sure I'm not the only one itching to race the Escort again though. :sly:

May i propose the NSX at Bridgehampton? Great fun as a combo.

Possibly. I try to stay away from the double-mod combo so people don't have to download/install two things for one race. Also, the best feeling combination is always a Kunos car at a Kunos track. A Kunos car at a mod track is (usually) still pretty good, as is a mod car at a Kunos track. A mod car at a mod track is always going to be the "worst" feeling combo since neither are fully up to Kunos standards. That's not to say a mod/mod combo can't be good, but either one of those mods will always be a bit better when combined with a piece of stock content so I try to use that as a general guideline when picking combos.

Both Bridgehampton and the NSX are on my radar though. I think the Escort would be a great fit with Bridgehampton (old skool car on an old skool track). The NXS would probably be great around Mugello.

The new Mustang or Corvette at Mugello is a good combination. Lots of torque down low and tall transmission lead to less gear changes and less mistakes.

Since those are both Kunos cars I'd probably try to take them to a mod track (best way to experience a mod track is with a Kunos car). But both will be at the track day in a couple weeks so I'll probably wait a little while before bringing either of them out again (not too long though).

Barbagallo in the Lotus Evora GTE...

The Lotus is on my list. Barbagallo I'm unsure of though, there's at least one really nasty turn that I've failed to successfully navigate even after many attempts. :dunce: I've tested it with several cars and every time I think "If I can't get through here one-wide then two or three-wide will be a disaster".

I'll give it another try though, see if I can figure it out.

I'm guessing you are talking about the off camber corner that leads on to the straight? As in the second last corner? It's an awesome corner but yeah requires good brake control and I can see a lot of people playing in the dirt there.

I think so, been a while since I drove it. I suppose as long as everyone practices and is aware of it then it shouldn't be too much of a problem.

Exactly, it's just like any track, you just need to learn the line and reference points. I love the place it's one of the best mod tracks in my opinion.

If you someone showed up to Barbagallo without practicing they'd be so far off pace there wouldn't be anyone else around them to cause problems for. It's a small but tricky track and in the harder to drive street cars it's very difficult to master. The right/left/right combo after the first corner followed by the sweeping off camber right hander is one of the most challenging combinations of corners to master in all of sim racing..IMO of course.

I have a new suggestion. The BMW M235i Racing + [insert any track]. Saw it was on the SRS site combined with Vallelunga Club for this week so I thought I'd get in a bit of practice. Wow, what a car!! We did a week of it in the AC Time Attack Challenge at Imola before all the updates and it was good, but it's even better now. You can really feel the edge of grip and make the car transition to oversteer on command and with control unlike most any other car I've ever driven in sim racing.

I'm baaaack!

I figure this is safe enough for this group but if you're at all easily offended don't look!

Which is why I've shy'd away from it so far. I want the club to be very accessible and not require hours of practice before the event and Barbagallo definitely requires some practice.

I'm planning to take it to the Nords, probably next month some time as we get closer to the 24hr of Nords. 👍

You realize you mentioned "requires some practice" in one sentence and then a race at a track that is 21km long and has 73 corners?
