So, 15 hours to go on my first Le Mans in pCARS.

I'm getting the red tyre nonsense every time I get a new set.

But I'm managing to make them last three stints (12 laps each). The last one requires some serious threading the needle skills to not drop the pace too much, because those pesky Audis are rigth on my tail.

ZOLDER PIT BUG (again or still ?)

Free race weekend Zolder / Caterham / 36 cars / clouded / only qualifying and 10 lap race.

When leaving the pit, the car slams into a fence and crawles up to a vertical stand, falls down and loses most of its bodywork.
Then it starts driving out of the pitlane, while 3 or 4 cars drive through it.

Accelerating when leaving pitlane, the car felt a bit weird and it took me some seconds to realize that it was not me driving it... :scared:

Restarted the same WE and exactly the same happened.
Skipped qualifying and started in last place.
Mostly normal, except every now and then the game paused (pause screen). By hitting "resume" I could continue the race, but each time the HUD changed layout and I had to reset it to what I want to see.

After finishing the race, I quit and started a new WE, this time 20 cars: ---> no more problems.
I had this happen a few times before the first patch in the BMW M1, but since that issue has been solved I had no more problems in Zolder (which is my most used track).

This happenend also in Dubai 6 hr WEC race today. Near the end of the race, almost every lap the game pauses, mostly in the sharp right hander (turn 10): pause... resume works, but the HUD is gone, comes back when pressing the designated button.

PS4/T500RS: checked the temperature, but nothing wrong there.

Never had it happen before Zolder/Caterham yesterday...

The amount of wonkiness in pCARS is gradually putting me off playing it in any meaningful way

I still do some hotlaps and tt's but that's about it. Maybe one day it'll be right

Say what you want about Forza, you know it'll do what its supposed to do out of the box or with
minimal patching

My first time on PCARS in a while, started the Road Events series in the Caterham at Oulton Park Fosters.

Finished practice and qualifying. Managed to get pole but wanted to back out to check race length, I told it to save the session results only it didn't.

Same for me; I've mainly only done a few laps in Practice Mode, I'm just finding the game the game to so dull & buggy. Gonna give it another go when the next patch drops.

There's lots wrong but lots right also I think . I can see why you're put off with the various bugs . I'm only early on in career but the not saving setups thing is now starting to annoy me somewhat . However this issue is being addressed in the next console patch I read , with features from PCs 2.5 update coming to us soon I hope .

Just like GT in that regard , Pcars is getting there though . My personal opinion is that there needs to be more regulation over gaming companies , so that games are released fully functional . This would discourage the studios rushing out the bugfest titles just to hit their profit targets .

Maybe gaming needs a union , maybe the majority don't care ? Who knows .

I have to admit, the game's actually enjoyable after the 2.0 patch; many issues did get resolved. It seems to be a bit more stable visually, and the control's right where it should be, though you still have to experiment extensively to get it to feel right for yourself. Whatever. Works.

As for reporting bugs: I'd like SMS to fix the flashing textures on track-side objects like barriers/walls and some buildings. Particularly noticeable in the sky (with clouds)on rare occasions. And that filtering/smoothing effect that's riding alongside your car a few meters on either side. Noticeable in replays too. Difficult to describe.. it's as if the LOD has gone awry on the sides, but looks okay on the track itself. Pull out of the pit, look to where the pit walls and garages are.. you'll notice it. I wonder if there's a way to switch off this filtering/processing effect.

Not sure if this has been reported before or not but, I still sometimes get the glitch where you change down once and it changes down twice in game, I'm on a PS4 controller and this was supposedly fixed in patch 2.0 but it still happens sometimes to me.

Oh, speaking of shifting.. I noticed in two cars.. an LMP car that comes right after the karts and one other, can't recall.. there's no gear-shift animation at all.

Just a minor thing.

This is mainly on The Azure Road course and Catalunyia, But there is a constant annoying flickering Shadow on the Track.

Doesn't really effect anything but I would still rather it wasn't there.

You might notice the flickering on several tracks.. but only on the sidewalls/barriers. At times, as you say, it is visible on the track too, and the sky as I pointed out.

Maybe a mini-me post-2.0 patch will resolve it?

Anyway, I think SMS should keep it coming with the patches. The game still needs to iron out some visual anomalies and other bugs I'm probably not even aware off, since I've hardly touched the career since getting it.

I got something positive to report;

I'd posted in the 2.0 thread on the official forum that after the patch my Fanatec GT2 was being detected as a Turbo S, it was fine before with 1.4. I didn't think anyone had noticed it, but then out of the blue I get a PM from a game dev looking for more info on this bug, so I gave him all the info he requested.

It's great to see that SMS are aware off all the games issues & are working on them.

I ran into , ( literally ) the invisible wall bug online at Brno 2 days ago . Just driving along then // BANG // , car exploded in the middle of the track lol .

Next patch will be incoming for consoles soon though i'd imagine , so i'm curious to what gets addressed next .
The reducing tyre pressure by 0.1 bar all round at a pitstop is a good fix for the current over heating tyre bug just now also . Works like a charm , if you don't do that on PS4 your tyres will overheat . Protip there for you guys .

Brno is one of the track with the magic walls.
Had the same issue , off-line as online.

Gave the new Audi A1 a spin in Zolder: leaving the pits the car hits a fence.
Not as bad as the Caterham, just a nudge...
Tried again with 5 cars less on track and no problem this time.
Could it have something to do with the number of cars competing ??

Are you in the first garage at Zolder because there I have it also ?
The car has no time to turn properly.

Had a classic last night: was bombing around Nurburgring GP, 5th gear, coming round the corner to the final straight before the chicane when my car just stopped dead in the middle of the road. Loud bump, all tyres instantly cold blue, car went into neutral and i couldn't move for a couple of seconds. when i got going again i had lost all FFB, forcing a restart. :boggled:

Classic one. When I got these people said I was overeacting and the game was perfect!

Yeah, that's what we call a landmine. Strangely, it happens much more frequently for a lot of people, but the devs have yet to reproduce it.

However, the good news is that you won't loose the FFB and the tyres won't become blue anymore in the next patch (that fix is in the patch 2.5). That's what we call the reset bug. This is usually caused by a hard crash, the landmine in your case. The only remaining effect is that the car will still go in neutral when it happens.

yup same for me too.

I have regrettably lost confidence in their ability to fix the game.

Yes I have encountered this since it has been 'fixed'

As a Soft Eng. myself, I have been puzzling over the almost completely random nature of most of these issues. It seems to me as if there is some major memory corruption occurring when running the game, as if multiple threads are accessing shared memory but in unexpected order.

After each patch I have updated the game and then immediately encountered bugs I thought were going to be fixed which haven't been, others which are stated as fixed but still occur and of course stupid AI blocking multiple corners @ Azure (Monaco)

I have played for 72 hours, but have not had a single bug free race. I do enjoy hot lapping though, but that wasn't enough in GT6 and it won't be enough for PCARS.

Yesterday afternoon, after over an hour struggling to get my wheel/pedals/FFB working, I finally gave up. Then later on in the evening I tried again & got it working, but kept getting the FFB loss bug (there's a work around on the official forum to get it working again). Then my game save corrupted, I had to laugh, Project BUGS strikes again! Anyway, it didn't matter as I hadn't done anything in the game worth saving.

So I decide to have a look in Career Mode for the first time. Sign up for Formula Rookie, do a practice session, qually, then start race. A few corners in something weird happens, I lose control & hit the barrier get damaged & it's race over. Looking at the replay, an invisible object flipped my right rear wheel up in the air & that caused the accident. That's me done with Career Mode, will never touch it again.

Project CARS on a PS4 with a Fanatec GT2 & G25 pedals is without a shadow of a doubt the single worst gaming experience of my entire life bar none. No exaggeration. However, when it's working & I manage to get a few laps in, driving certain cars is utterly brilliant. This game has so much awesome & so much fail in it. I thought Gran Turismo made me feel ambivalent, but P CARS takes ambivalence to a whole new level.

I am ready now to go back to GT6, at least the online works for me having many more features than Project CARS threadbare excuse for a multiplayer.
