Well technically, Gran Turismo Sport is Gran Turismo 7. So, perhaps they are planning to release a fully featured Gran Turismo 8 in 2018 to celebrate 20 years of Gran Turismo.

Gran Turismo Sport feels like an Prologue/interim game to test the waters of the PlayStation 4. Perhaps that is what Polyphony is doing. Maybe Polyphony is planning a Gran Turismo 8 release on the new, more powerful PlayStation Neo, with 500+ cars of different types, all the original tracks, the career mode etc.

a wider variety of cars like from the Toyota Yaris to the Toyota GT One,
Sorry to burst your bubble, but GTSport is a more of a motorsports-oriented game, and less about car collecting like previous GT games. GTS probably won't have many compacts like the Yaris, due to the fact that the game is more about racing (more race cars), than driving in general. We also don't have any idea if the GT One will make an appearance in the game, so don't just assume that it won't.

You haven't even played GTS before, and bear in mind that it's not even a finished game yet, so it's too early to make that assumption. Kaz has said that GTS will be a "complete game", and most racing prologues don't have 400+ vehicles to choose from.

Bought into the Kaz promises already? GTS will have 140 vehicles at launch. Whether it eventually does have 400+ or not is up in the air but by then it could well have developed further in other areas as well, making it feel like less of a stop gap prologue.

My biggest concern with Gran Turismo Sport is that, it is a work in progress and who knows what it will have in 2 years from now. Will it have the High Speed Ring, Deep Forest? Will it have the 2002 Subaru Legacy B4 Blitzen or the 1993 McLaren F1?

At least if in 2017, Gran Turismo Sport still has 140 cars and 10 tracks. I can still enjoy playing all the older Gran Turismo games.

I still passionately, wholeheartedly believe Polyphony is planning a gigantic Gran Turismo 8 release, perhaps on the PlayStation 4 Neo.

What makes you all think that PS4 neo will have any exclusives? SONY already stated time and time again PS4 neo is not next gen console, what you gonna play on ps4, it will be the same on Neo, better framerate, better resolution kinda stuff only. There wont be something that the NEO has and ps4 doesnt.

PlayStation 4/Neo Game Compatibility
Sony is very keen on developers supporting both systems simultaneously, and is motivating developers to ensure that there is Neo support in all PS4 titles from Q4 onwards this year. It's also firm on unifying the platforms with little or no exceptions:

  • Neo-only or PS4-only games are not permitted (remember that Neo can still run unenhanced titles - developers are simply prohibited from locking out audiences of either console).
  • All games you purchase, whether via disc or from the PlayStation Store, should offer both PS4 and Neo functionality with no extra costs associated in running titles on a different console.
  • All new titles with Neo support use unified packages that run on both platforms. The CPU binary is identical, while three GPU binaries (shared, PS4-specific and Neo-specific) are all contained in the same package.
  • All DLC and additional content is entirely cross-platform. Unified downloads are used for both this, and basic game patches.
  • Neo support for old games is allowed via 'forward compatibility' patching - but this will not be allowed for new titles.
  • Developers cannot supply exclusive gameplay features for Neo owners. If the game has a split-screen mode, it must be available on both systems. However, modes can be enhanced - so a two-player split-screen mode on PS4 could be expanded to allow a four-player variant on Neo.
  • Developers cannot add exclusive content to either PS4 or Neo systems.
  • If there's a bug in Neo-specific code, developers are not allowed to divert Neo owners to the PS4 codepath. The game must be fixed.

I think they will release a fully featured Gran Turismo 7 in the future, despite "saying otherwise". It is just unfathomable, with the way Gran Turismo Sport is currently, it is the game we all been waiting for. It lacks an enormous variety of cars, all the original tracks, and everything that makes Gran Turismo unique. I honestly think Gran Turismo Sport right now, is one of the most disappointing Gran Turismo games of all time.

To be clear, I don't hate Gran Turismo Sport, I just hate the fact it's missing so many things. Perhaps if Polyphony announced they will add the original tracks, a wider variety of cars like from the Toyota Yaris to the Toyota GT One, I would buy Gran Turismo Sport. Right now, I have to wait and see.
Wait there a sec, according to Kaz, there will be 500+ more (Guessing if it's on front page it has to be confirmed) This game is not just about Street cars or road cars at the moment i'm not saying it's guaranteed there's gonna be Road/Street cars

That's the plan, but they've had issues before delivering in a timely manner when it comes to post-release content. It may or may not happen, there was to be monthly track DLC for GT6 and about twice the number of VGTs.

Could I ask for someone's help in going through this thread? I want to collect information on the most common complaints in the series so I can make a discussion video about the series.

Here is my other complaint about Gran Turismo Sport, that still has yet to be released.

I have been playing Euro Truck Simulator 2 which is an amazing game. It has dynamic weather. How on earth can Gran Turismo Sport not have dynamic weather and night to day transitions? The PlayStation 4 is more than capable of having it.

There are so many things that are a big no for me, for buying Gran Turismo Sport.

I have bought every single Gran Turismo in the past, and played hours and hours on end of each one. It is really saddening, for the first time, I will not be buying the next Gran Turismo.

I hope to goodness sake, Polyphony is planning a Gran Turismo, like the others in the past. I am sure I am not the only Gran Turismo fan who feels this way.

I have actually accepted the 400 cars as an eventuality as well. I tend to give people the benefit of the doubt first, instead of hanging on to past grievances. Now while I have no idea how long this will take to accomplish but I feel it will come down to how active the game is over time.

Lack of offline career
No proper damage (yet)
Collision model
Scaled down car/track roster
Lack of street cars
Online stability?
Too much focus on VGT
Clutch

That about covers it i think.

Tradeoffs. The graphics of ETS2 are nowhere near comparable to GTSport. I think ETS2 and ATS are both DX9 games if I'm not mistaken.

Because they need to maintain 60fps for VR. Even the framerate in pCARS takes a dive in the weather on PS4 from what I've been hearing.

Alright. Thanks! I have to dig into this deeper in each of those areas.

I'm not going to touch on the last two or three as these fall on the company, not the series itself.

-framerates (still not stable 60fps)
-Physics, running over curb are still not simulated well.
-online stability
-CLUTCH ( on off button is not a clutch)
-Sounds. (tyre squeal and unrealistic shifting )
-GT without GT mode

The new SLS in the images is incredibly annoying to me. Did we need another SLS, a car which is not even in production any more? If you're going to make a fictional car, at least make it vaguely up to date. It's this sort of dumb car list decision which really grates with GT lately.

The new SLS is real. I've actually seen one at a dealership.

That looks like a really, low-level effort there at turning the SLS into a race car compared to what PD did with the 8C & the F-Type, imo.

I could be wrong, but it looks like this is a Gr. 4 version, since the GT3-spec one is already in the game. So that'd explain why it's so much closer to the road car.

Though it doesn't make the boring livery any more impressive. Also, is it just me, or is the rear left tire not quite sitting right?

Oh, that. No, that I haven't seen. I thought he was referring to the Mercedes-AMG GT.

Still, what's wrong with a Gr. N SLS?

Well I guess his point is it's an old car now so why not base it on the AMG-GT instead. It is a bit of an issue of the entire car list, it's both entirely modern and a bit out of date. Most of the real race cars are several years old.

We have now seen the M6 since I wrote this post but the rest is still true.

To be honest one of the biggest concerns I have in the car list is with the age of the race cars. Not enough up-to-date models so far.

2010 Peugeot 908 (Only one newer 2011 car since they pulled out, but still)
2011 Audi R18 (Seriously outdated, completely different car today)
2011 BMW Z4 GT3 (It evolved quite a bit since then and is now replaced by the M6)
2011 SLS AMG GT3 (We've got the AMG GT now, where is it?)
2012 V12 Vantage GT3 (4 years old)
2012 Toyota TS030 (Same as the R18, very outdated and not much like the TS050)
2013 GT-R GT3 (I'm not sure how much this has changed in 3 years but presumably it has somewhat)
2013 458 GT3 (Great to finally have a GT3 Ferrari but why an old one? The 488 GT3 is here now)

Then we do have the 2015 R8 LMS, 650S and R.S. 01. Three up to date real world race cars, 8 old ones.

In the grand scheme of time they're not exactly ancient but the motorsport world moves fast and in particular LMP cars are very different today. The newer models could yet to be seen but it would seem odd to show off the old stuff first.

Yeah the shadows right at the point the wheels contact the ground aren't 100% accurate, it's one thing I'm always having to fix up when editing my game photos (all car games photo modes I know of have this issue to some degree, DriveClub is especially bad. This looks pretty minor really but in the scapes it could make the shots less convincing.

I like the car selection menu where the car swivels and showing the measurement gradually on the first demo.

Why replace it into static car image at the Gamescom Demo? I thought it loads quick?
