Need to vent again.

I was just thinking of how easy it would have been to implement a basic career mode and it frustrates me that PD didn’t do it.

Coming up with a career mode isn’t hard. Everything you need to make it is already in the game: the cars, the tracks, the AI. Even with this game’s small amount of cars, it isn’t difficult. So all of the cars are divided into classes, right? Why not just make a series of races/events for each class? Start us at N100 and let us work up to Gr. X. Throw a few spec races in there for good measure or something. It doesn’t have to detract from Sport Mode either. I’m not asking for something that’s the same scale and depth of GT4’s single player. It would just be a a more engaging way to earn credits and mileage than mission challenges and driving lessons and another place where you can use the cars you earn.

I really hope Kaz keeps his word about adding more offline content in the future, because I don’t see how GTS is going to be successful in the long run once this honeymoon phase is over. Making an online focused racing game on consoles is unprecedented and this has the potential to flop harder than a pancake.
It's a game design choice. They don't want to offer a career mode. Both Forza Motorsport and Forza Horizon have a huge career because 95% of this latter is made by a combination of car categories and tracks. They just need a name and a pic to illustrate the championship.
Poly was aware of the disappointment for the lack of a classic career mode in GTSport. They had one more year and nothing really change. I don't see why things will change in a near future.
(the 30 laps event at Maggiore shows the miss opportunity...)

Have to say, GT Sport is a good game but not great. The amount it depends on an Internet connection is what's killing it for me, especially that you need to have Playstation Plus to play this game properly. No career mode is a shame, which leaves me just driving cars and tracks for no real reason. The track list is also a bit of a let down - who cares about fictional circuits!? Not many cars and far too many race/concept cars. GT has changed, I really really miss the 'good old days'. Still, nothing can last forever and I'm enjoying Project Cars 2 a huge amount!

Biggest complaint? I can’t use my steering wheels shifter. I have a Logitech g29 with shifter add on. And the game doesn’t recognize it half the time. Sometimes it works great and I’m as happy as can be. But most times. You kick the clutch to shift and it just throws the car in neutral. And you can’t just clutch and shift like you would if you misshifted. You have to hit the paddle shifters and hope that it decides to let you use the regular shifter again. No big deal, just use the paddles right? Well first off I paid extra money for a shifter and shifter mount to my playseat. And secondly, when shifting with the paddles, the shifts are sooooooooooooo slow. It’s unbearable. So... so far? I want to love it. But what’s the point of having a nice seat and wheel set up if you can’t even use it.
Ah, so I'm not the only one having issues with the G29 shifter? Yeah its a huge pain because I feel that the shifter just isn't possible to use right now, I have to brace myself every time I shift because it usually jumps to neutral. And I agree that using the paddles isn't a good fix because as you said its stupidly slow and not authentic! I'm finding GT quite irritating in many ways right now. I was having such a blast with Project Cars 2 whilst waiting for GT!

I put in 3 hours Monday night into Tuesday. I haven't been able to make time to play again. Not a lot of desire. The lack of Trial Mountain, Deep Forest or any of my favorite cars is like a bleeding stab-wound to this game. I have this irrational hope that a big DLC will drop to fill the void, which is sad.

I should get the itch to compete soon - no better method to scratch than GTS. Here's hoping Sport mode doesn't boil down to a bunch of one-make races by then.

I've never been in such a big dilemma with a game as I am with GT Sport. Part of myself says "Buy it! You're gonna like it. All your friends are playing it! You have always been a fan of the series, and you enjoyed playing the campaign events and using the livery editor. You need to represent Lamborghini in the Manufacturer Cup!", while the other part says "This game isn't worth your money! You've known since the Copper Box event that this was gonna be bad. 4 years for not having a proper Career Mode, and you don't like the car and track lists either! They haven't addressed all of the problems you have always complained about, so stick with pCARS 2."
I want to buy this game, but I think I will feel guilty of doing so. I don't know what to do. :indiff:

Just buy it! £45 is a small price to pay... I didn't really like it to begin with but I've put some hours in today and it's great, I even got my first win on the Suzuka short track. As time goes on it will only get better :)

There are so many disappointments in the game already and now the races stay the same for A ****ING WEEK!

Only three online races each week? Maybe find something else to do for a few hours. Go for a bike ride. Take a nap. Have lunch with your friend. Get some exercise. Put down the controller and experience a balanced life outside the PS4 world. Hope this helps you.

This probably is not a decision you have to make immediately. Take some time and watch how things progress. Decide later.

My life is good and I never play a lot.

That doesn't affect the problems in the game.

Hope this helps you.

I'm enjoying the game but I do have a few issues. The lack of tracks is the main one but knew that before release but the other is I'm finding it hard to learn tracks, even with the driving line on. I preferred the GT5 and GT6 approach where you had blue dashes, which turned to a solid red line to mark the braking zone. The driving line no longer has a braking zone but instead flashes up BRAKE in red letters and if you drive in roof cam it blends into the car and is difficult to see.

**** polyphony, **** Sony and especially **** you Kaz you pretentious, overblown self absorbed d******.

If I seem unhappy with wasting my $119 Aud on this disaster then you are right.

Sport mode is a ******* cesspool of arrogant selfish c**** and the SR does nothing to fix this.

you ok lol

Carry on enjoying PC2 and pick up a copy of GTS when it comes down in price - although everyone on GTPlanet knows what the limitations of the game are, there are lots of casual players who will pick up a copy expecting a career mode - I think a lot of their copies will start appearing in CEX and the other secondhand shops within a week or two - so cheap copies will be available sooner rather than later.

I’m sure it’s about money in the grand scheme of things. I didn’t want to sound cynical though.

However, I defenitely have doubts about Kaz’s claim that there will eventually be 500 cars in the game. But you’ve already got some people who are using that to defend GT Sport’s lack on content when nothing has even happened yet, and even going as far as saying that it will all be free. That’s being too optimistic to say the least.

What do you expect? People are going to latch onto anything Kaz says and twist them to fit their ideal world. And of course, they'll get burned once more, like basically anything Kaz has said going back to GT5's development, and we start this entire process over again. It's almost like a battered wife syndrome in a way, how some people operate here. Even after being lied to, time and time again, and having content either never materialize or come out months after the fact neutered and not like what was promised, they still defend Kaz and PD.

Yes I spend a few hours each day on the internet and sometimes I do something positive, like try to help people. The rest of my day is pretty active and busy. Hope this helps you! :D

You never play a lot? But you are exasperated by having only three online races per week? Three races that you can repeat as much as you want?

Is it me or Alsace looks bad?! Like something made with a track editor. The scenery is so basic, compared to an original track from Forza.

But you are not trying to help people. You're suggesting people are living their lives incorrectly. I can only imagine it's in your defence of a computer game. It's lame and condescending. The self help forums are thataway.

Has the GT Sport online manual got smaller, I'm sure when I was viewing the manual
a few days ago there seemed to be a lot more content in it :boggled:

Wow, so when the network connection is lost, I can't even kill time buying cars? The Brand section is inactive. This whole permanent internet connection for the game is troublesome to say the least. How can PD not have sorted the server load out before all of this? They knew virtually the entire game needs to be connected, and they knew they would sell millions. Arrrrggggg!

I’m so glad I’m not the only one! The game is seriously unplayable for me at this particular point in time. I just get so frustrated trying to use basic controls that should work for a racing simulator.

And on a side note. What’s with this vr mode? Why can’t I just use vr for everything. Driveclub vr can work vr just fine. All races, all conditions, everything in full vr. I was super stoked to have GT in vr and was hugely disappointed by what it really is.

Well I am glad I did not get Gran Turismo Sport. No car tuning, no form of single player & no car collecting like in previous GT games is a deal breaker for me. After one year of not playing I started playing GT6 again. I am so glad I moved to Forza Horizon 3.
Hahaha, my sentiments exactly. ;)
Really, after the debacle of GT5 and 6 (my opinion only) I was really hoping for something special from them (Sony-PD) with Sport. :(
As an aside, my expectations for GT6 were high after GT5 :( I just checked my stats again, 100.1 hours driving @ only 14,475.5 ks. LOL, :)
How wrong could I have been for GTS.
No career mode
No offline championships
No tuning (or very limited, because Kaz doesn't think we can handle it ourselves....rolls eyes  )
No dynamic weather or time change
ONLY online saves? Who was the dumbass that suggested that garbage?

I haven't progressed to any other driving/racing game yet, but I did see AC advertised at a reasonable price. I purchased a PS4 back in September 2015
with MGSV and have played the pants off that and Ghost Recon since, plus several other games.
Was really hoping to be ready for GTS when it eventually arrived, but so pleased I have saved some coin. ;)

I bought my PS4 a little while ago in anticipation of GT Sport.

Not only have I completely reset the console, I have packed it up and am selling it.

I paid $119Aud at JB Hi Fi for steel book version 1 day later no hope of refund and a trade in value of $39Aud.

So to JB I say go **** yourselves I will no longer shop there and to Sony I say the same.

Prefer Samsung anyway.

**** GT Sport you smoking pile of outdated crap.

Tried getting into the arcade stuff etc and omg please poke my eyes out with a stick. That is the most boring attempt at a racing game ever.

Hold up;

You dropped $120 on a game without even knowing what it’d be about?

The name of the game - “Sport”. It kinda tells you from the beginning that it’s a deviation from the first 6 numbered entries in the series.

And what’s with slating the place you bought the game from? You’re the one who bought it, not JB Hi Fi. It’s not their fault you don’t like the game.
