Some of my *MAJOR* complaints about GT Sport:
-Too much Vision GT cars, and lack of production cars. (Especially, classic cars. That, and cars nobody hears of, outside of Japan and other countries.)
-Lack of tracks, both Old-School original tracks (like, Trial Mountain & Deep Forest Raceway) and real-life tracks (i.e. Fuji Speedway, Laguna Seca, Cote D’Azur...)
-The lack of selection, for obtaining Daily Workshop vehicles. (Based on my experience, in the Second Beta demo. Had nothing, but useless vehicles, like the GT by Citroen GT4 and Hyundai N 2025 VGT.)
-The Sacrificing of Career Mode, for *shutter* Sport Mode...
-Lack of punishment & restrictions, for drivers who are too Gung-Ho in online races. (In GT6, when a player starts to cut corners and ram people, the previous penalty system forces them to slow down and turns them into a Ghost. And, I miss that... Now, certain players don’t care about the amount of penalties they have; just bum-rush everyone/everything in their sight, and still lose, thus rage quitting. All because, Polyphony thinks all of the players would respect one another, and turned off the GT6/GT5 “Ghost Penalty” system for GT Sport.)
-Online Saving (Completely unfair, for players who don’t even play online, or don’t have a PSN account in the first place. Thus, making the game; “Need For Speed (2015) 2.0: SHIFT Edition”, yet EA/Ghost Studios can’t make a simulator-based NFS installment this amazing, compared to Simply Mad Studios developing the Shift sequels.)
-Racing Etiquette (Completely useless, for drivers who want to just bum-rush the entire race, and rage quit, when they are dead-last and/or spun-out of control.)
-New, revamped Physics (Again, in my experience in both of the Beta Tests, I’ve witnessed that RWD vehicles are more unforgiving, compared to 4WD cars. And, FWD cars, like the Nissan GT-R LM Nismo and RenaultSport Megane R.S. Trophy, feel like they don’t want to corner at all. Personally, I think, it’s my settings and how I “modify” them. Oh, and speaking of modifications...)
-Lack Of “Actual” Modifications (Back in the days of GT6/GT5, we used to make crazy mods in our cars; Turbos/Superchargers, Weight Reductions, Custom Rear Spoilers, et cetera... But now, we are forced to “level up” cars, like they’re Pokémon or something. I say, Toyota has something to do with this, since they refused video game developers to modify their classic cars, like Supra and AE86. But, at least, we can change tires and wheels. *sobs quietly*)
-Lastly, and also relating to tracks, no actual point-to-point races in GT Sport. (No, I’m not talking about Custom Tracks, nor Goodwood Hill Climb 2013-2014. I’m talking about original, WRC-inspired, point-to-point tracks in GT Sport. And, I’m too impatient to wait for Pikes Peak, to come in a future installment. Also, the utter irony that BigBen Interactive has the rights for the WRC game installments, yet GT Sport doesn’t have any WRC-homologated vehicles, despite Polyphony teaming up with the FIA-committee. Just, generic, souped-up, off-road versions of standard N-Class cars.
But, this complaint is generally towards, most installments in Gran Turismo, overall.)
Seeing my prejudice towards GT Sport shows, how much I miss the old-school GT. That’s why, I still play GT6. That, and also going little bit off-topic, play Tourist Trophy and (almost) every one of Milestone S.r.l’s racing games. Because of my love of motorcycles and my curious knowledge of niche vehicles, that why I love to play Milestone S.r.l’s games, because they remind me of Polyphony, back when Gran Turismo was filled with love and knowledge, not the corrupted ESports/FIA-partnered money-maker, we see before now.
So, until I see some extra content in GT Sport (i.e. older cars, extra tracks, legitimate modifications...), I refuse to be part of this future of Gran Turismo and continue to be clouded with nostalgia, and proud of it.
