How you play the game is up to you but when I did those I would restart if I had contact because I wanted to achieve Gold with clean driving. It is actually easy to get Gold while driving clean, I'm not an Alien usually 1-3 seconds off the leaderboards in Sport mode so if I can do it I think it is fair to say it is easy.

I'd argue and say it is good prep but not perfect. The AI drives pretty bad, if you try to drive clean it teaches you to be more aware of others on the track and different levels of skill and not drive as if everyone is on the same level as you. Unfortunately because of the lack of penalties, often yes it does unfortunately allow a certain level of dirty driving and people are bringing that into Sport mode.
Being within 1-3 seconds of Sport Mode leaderboards based on the huge database that GT5 offers and would easily put you into the top 0.5% or the top .005% of drivers, depending on how you measure it. Either way it's fair to say that your experience doesn't transfer to the vast majority of GTS players.

In New Zealand the Daily Races change at 9pm, this was fine when they were weekly changes as you still got a decent run on each but with the daily changes it means they change halfway through the prime evening gaming time for anyone with a day job which makes it really hard to get into a groove - my DR rating has dropped from a B to a D since the change to daily races and SR seems to either be B or C when it was A previously.

Also the Championships don't start until 10pm meaning, we have to stay up late in order to take part. I've been focussing on the campaign recently in the hope the PD will add an earlier 9pm session to the Championships and bring back some Weekly Races but not holding my breath since they don't seem to be have been particularly worried about NZ timezone thus far, it's a real shame because the game is great but without Sport mode it's pretty empty.

That's what I'm saying, you're imposing that on yourself. The game doesn't care. The bottom line is, racing dirty is faster. I wouldn't say that getting gold cleanly is 'easy' either but this is the internet and every videogame task is easy :D

<i think the video shows more than words...
I had no internet problems..was streaming normal and was still online in psn...so no internet issues on my end...
after 4 weeks its a disaster in what a current state the sport mode are -> Most of the A/S, S/S drivers are not driving the daily races anymore because they are crap at current state (Crashing, ramming, divebombing, grids from A/S till D/B, the Championships full of matchmaking errors, connection issues or/and server issues on PD side, ridiculous penalty system which makes absolut no sense. The only thing they have done last 4 weeks is that they managed to mess up the BoP...

Plus, there's often no incentive whatsoever for driving clean.

I look forward to those clean race bonuses at the end of each arcade session.

Personally, my goal while racing the AI is to have the track to myself for the final lap, so I can set new PBs (aiming for the clean race bonuses of course).

*Don't mind the ignorant red writing on the image, just the only pic i found with quick Google search:P

The Challenge mode in this game is absolute nonsense ... The whole thing teaches you to drive like an absolute idiot who kamikazees themselves past packs of cars on every bend and does whatever it takes to get that 1st place. Isn't this supposed to be a primer for clean online racing? *smacks head*. It's just so 'videogamey'.

I know it feels like that the first few times through these challenges but the cars your up against always drive the same way and are in the same position on the same bends etc... Once you know their pattern you can get through clean. I think it's great prep for real racing as the time constraint forces you to negotiate tricky full speed race overtakes and braking in a way you can practice the same move repeatedly and eventually nail those clean braking lunges or exit passes and the use of drafting etc.

Don't get me wrong, some are frustrating as hell (I have gold all the way to 8/8) but when you get them clean, you have definitely improved as a driver :)

Gr.4 has effectively has 2 different classes, FF and everyone else. If you're lucky all the FF cars are ahead of you on the grid, otherwise all the FF cars behind you are going to force their way - force being the key word because they are so much faster they will attempt to pass you just about anywhere regardless of whether it's an appropriate spot to pass.

I don't think the FF's are the problem, awareness and decision making are the key to racing clean even with FF's. Just try to not put yourself in that position and everything will be just fine.

Of course they're the problem, they're demonstrably faster than the other cars in the class.

Yea that money grind is long gone and the only reason it was a clean lap was because it lasted 45 seconds :D

The game is near perfect, but me being ever so hard to please, have found some minor annoyances:

- The AI variation needs some fixing. In Custom Race mode, it's always the same two cars in front. The Megane and Scirocco for Gr.4 and the two M6s for Gr.3.

- Why are there no number changes outside the Livery Editor? I'd like to keep some default liveries but change the number so there's no duplicates during races.

- There is still no option to toggle on/off individual music tracks in the playlist. I suspect this is coming in the next update?

- If you are driving a Time Trial or qualifying in a car with a custom livery, the ghost car still has the standard livery. I suspect this is also going to be fixed soon?

- Is there going to be a full-screen replay option? It bothers me that I can only select full-screen when spectating.

Am I the only one who hates the replays in this game?
So unrealistic where cameras fly at same speed of cars on a crane on the side of the road! If it was a helicopter yeah fine, but a fixed camera?!
Look at how all the other games do it! Realistic and authentic!

Lol, sounds good, doesn't work.
Dirty drivers will be dirty, regardless of your positioning or car choice.

Those cameras could be on a cable, as they are at a lot of real world circuits. Or on a really fast drone.

Shouldn't blame the other cars or their drivers. Just don't put yourself in a position to be affected by them and you'll be fine. Awareness and decision making are the key no matter who or what else is on the track.

Are you actually telling me not to complain in a thread about complaining?

My awareness and decision making is just fine btw, I can avoid most of the carnage but that doesn't mean I have to like the current state of Gr. 4 where the category has two cars that are completely overpowered which has led to a massive increase in hyper aggressive driving.

From the looks of things, @Johnnypenso was trying to help you by saying, not to get yourself in a situation where the other driver(s) will be able to knock you off the track.

But try to avoid the dirty drivers, and have good awareness at all times on the race track. (Not saying you don't, just giving you a friendly heads up).

No one likes it and everyone would be happy with a perfect BoP but you just have to avoid putting yourself in a situation where it affects you. Awareness and decision making will keep you out of trouble.

First race in Sport mode for me, at Interlagos in Gr.4 cars... Qualify in 2nd, was 2nd to 3rd all race, finished 2nd, but got a 11 second penalty and ended 4th...

Because one dude decided to brake check me in the middle of the straight. Just great.

Oh well, I will be back stronger. I hope.

Hah! Im just mad that I didnt take advantage of it while it worked! I wonder if there is another credits exploit by now.

So far, I only have 1.5M saved up (and the accounts are frozen 'til the F40 releases).

All that waiting and this is what we get????? A gran turismo prologue. I’m 100% disappointed at this game!!! It’s like I bought a demo gtsport is by far the worst gran turismo game ever made and i stand by my statement. If they don’t add motorcycles as a dlc to this game I am not impressed thumbs down from me.

First of all I love to play this game, but it has few problems, and here I want to mention the penalty system.
Why am I getting penalty if someone hits me from the back and I go off the track or hit the wall? Why am I getting penalty if someone spins and I overtake him/her? I know it says yellow flag overtakes are prohibited, but what should I do, stop on the middle of the track and wait until he gets back on the track. Why am I getting penalty if I loose the control of the car and I go off the track? I already lost time because I went off the track, but I still get a 1 to 5 seconds penalty. This penalty system is ridiculous.
The Bop system is also sucks. The Renault sport and the scirocco are way faster than the porsche cayman or the Lamborghini, etc. I can do with the Renault sport 6 seconds faster time than with a porsche, and here I am talking about straight line speed. Doesn't matter how good my corner exit is the guys with the Renault and Volkswagen are passing me like I am using only half throttle.
I hope they will fix these things otherwise no point to put other brands in the car list.

I had the same thing happen to me on the same daily. On the final lap, this dude made a mistake and ran wide at Turn 4, after the back straight, I overtook him and he went mental! He barged his way past at the hairpin turns (SR deduction for me, yay) then proceeded to brake test me! I hit him up the arse then saw that he was given a hefty time penalty (nothing for me).

He slowed down and tried to get me to overtake him (no doubt so that he can shove me off at the final corner). I stayed behind him until the home straight and he tried to brake test again, but I saw it coming and avoided him.

This was supposed to be a B/S race! Half the cars were driven by nutters. I give him that he was one very passionate (reckless) automobile driver though (clue to where he was from )

I change the replay camera to variable in the replay options. It improves it vastly in my opinion, not as rigid if you know what I mean?

I'm annoyed the Fanatec CSL doesn't just work out of the box like in PCars 2. I'm hoping the firmware update fixes it although not seeing it listed under controller options is disconcerting.
