On the back of my "Flumps" Mini for the Wrap theme, here's another sweet treat!
I was planning on doing something with Skittles before I saw the fluorescent theme and decided to go all in by combining the two.

As soon as I heard fluoro my mind was immediately cast back to the heady days of the late 90's and the booming trance scene at the time. House-music dominated 'superclubs' had been a big thing for quite some a few years already but Sheffield's Gatecrasher came along with it's legions of fluoro clad ravers and turned the dance music scene on it's head.

Coincidentally it was also around the same time that a certain driving simulator on the PS One was released and I've a lot of fond memories of playing 2-player split-screen races at after-parties to a soundtrack usually supplied by mix-CDs from the likes of Gatecrasher, Cream and Ministry of Sound.

The livery itself is based on the artowork Gatecrasher's Disco-Tech mix-CD. The drivers are two of it's most famous resident DJs (Paul Van Dyk and Tiesto), there are nods to Paul Oakenfold's 'PerfectoFluoro' and Paul Van Dyk's 'Vandit' record labels and the car choice is an obvious one for anyone who knows anything about the clubbing and rave scenes at the time...

I had a hard time to find a good use of these fluorescent colours, as I could not imagine what thing or company might be suitable. But then one of my coworkers came across me with a disgusting Miami Beach branded shirt and hell breaked loose in my head. What else than a Miami Retro feeling could be a better partner for these colours?
After scrapping a Miami Vice theme, as it could never be seen on a modern race car, I went with a tourism branded Mustang GT3 car. Most decals are custom made. It was quite fun to work on it, but please excuse me now - I have to go to the ophthalmologist after working a few hours on it.
