what ever kent does i will follow/participate the best i can

Same here 👍
I won't miss a race in neither of the two WRS's - even if my lap won't be as good as I'd like, I will still submit something just to keep partecipating - I am really committed :D

The Wizard.

With week 105 already running, I suposse that the switch to GT4 is postponed

It will be necessary to hope  :)

I don't get it, did someone plan the switch at week 105 and not tell me?

Today's the big day though!
I plan on stopping by the game store to pick up a reserved copy on my way home from school (about 5:45pm my time).

With luck the game will be there.

On that note,
I want to let you all know that I have come to a basic conclusion regarding the switch.

The wrs will not switch until after the PAL date.

Here are my thoughts...
If I get the game later today and check it out only to find that the game has bunches of arcade cars and plenty of open tracks... :P The switch would certainly come quicker. 👍

However, if the game needs a bit of work before OLR is a practical idea then so be it; we will wait if we must. :D

sounds great kent, keep us updated on your thoughts, as you explore gt4.

I think that "the switch" should (could) come quite early, just as long as it is after the game is released in Europe! :scared: :)

I believe I've read somewhere on this forum that quite a few cars (If I remember correctly, something like 200) where available from the start. Surely that will be enough to keep us going a week or two? Just my thoughts on the subject..

I'm sure the GT4 WRS will be just as much fun as this one has been for me, even though I'm still new to it.. Keep up the good work! 👍

Cheers!

At boot time:

There is 18 x 2 directions tracks + 8 unidirectional tracks: 44 in total open
There is 240 arcade cars unlocked

It's about the same amount that GT3 at 100% :D

On top of that you can adjust the weight and horsepower of each car. I don't see any reason to delay the switch :dopey:

I agree that there's no reason to delay the switch. After PAL gets their shipment give them a week or two to get used to the changed physics of the game and familiarize with the tracks and cars.

You could hand over the GT3 WRS to someone else, kind of train them to take your place in GT4 when you're through with it.

Start GT4 WRS when primary PAL members are ready.

I really like the idea of using license tests as part of the WRS competition.

i'm new to this forum (but have been playing Gran Turismo since I got the original game demo back in 98 or whenever it came out.)

I am extremely interested in joining the WRS for GT4.

When will it start???????????

It's not decided yet, but it won't be before the PAL release date (March 9th).
Keep an eye on this thread and you'll know when and how to register.

BTW, welcome to the WRS.

Great,
I have on the twelfth of march a lan-party at jadaman's place with Gt4.
I was a bit afraid we haven't enough tracks unlocked at that time.

Hugo,care to join us?

GT3 has a total of 34 tracks and 170-odd cars, so that actually not "about the same" but simply "30% more" than a fully completed GT3 !

Some one else interested?

French wine available :)

That looks great, it's a pity I live more than 1,000 km away :(

Edit :
That looks great except for the Heineken :yuck:

Kent,
I am happy to see you are transitioning the WRS to GT4. I've been waiting for that day to happen. I enjoyed my one race here in Gt3 (skyline @ Monaco) but by that time I was well into the GT4 demo.

One thing. Not that anyone has found anything that differs between the NA version and the NTSC-J version (or PAL for that matter)...but I hope you are prepared to factor in not all of us will be driving in the NA NTSC version. I am American but own the NTSC-J Japanese version and a NTSC-J PS2 I bought in January. I'm not planning on buying the NA version anytime soon, unless there is a huge change (nothing I have seen yet in changes in the NA or PAL versions is the killer app yet), an "online" version or I find a used copy for $20 or so.

As far as I know replay files are not swappable between version. A NTSC-J Chinese reply won't load in the NTSC-J Japanese version, nor do I expect the NA NTSC to go into my NTSC-J and so one and so on...at least I haven't gotten any replys to work from different versions of the game and I've been trying since early Jan.

It seems it was all worked out for GT3 and you can always find someone with a different version to check hotlaps, etc. I will assume you have it figured out here too. I was just racing the point.

I look forward to joining you all again in racing in the WRS.

Man id love to come, where is it, and more importantly, can you NAME the people in the picture?

Like, it would be really cool to put a face to you and HUGO etc.....

Would love to test my language skills and driving skills and staying awake skills at the same time...

why do we have to wait for everyone to get it???

Let's just start now!!!

Oh, I can probably wait but I am excited about Suzuka and want to do some time attacks!

they won't be the best for long. I've been playing Gran Turismo everyday for the past 2 years. (give or take a couple of days :) )

Same for me : I've been playing GT3 almost every day for about 28 months, I've been racing in the WRS for more than 30 weeks and I'm still a div 2 racer.
The difference is that instead of racing 50 laps to submit a time, I only need now 20 laps to submit the same time.
Practice is not all that is required.
You can play GT3 24/7 and still be a solid second slower than the top racers.
Mr P is the only one I know who has really improved a lot by practising. For the rest, fast drivers remain fast drivers and slow drivers remain slow drivers regardless of how much they practice.

Just had a thought that I wanted to run by you guys and Kent. Would anyone be interested in a sort of WRS "GT4 warm up race" until we make the full switch to GT4? I could set it up with an arcade car and one of the available tracks found in arcade mode, so it would be accessible to anyone with the game. I could even do a poll for car and track selection 👍. Any comments welcome ;).

The same old rubbish that comes out time and time again when a new version is released :yuck: :ill:

Getting back on topic:

If you guys decide to run a GT4 WRS before us Euro's get it, could you consider selecting a car and track that is available in GT4P? This way at least some of us can join in the fun in some form.
