Yeah, my dad doesn't "waste time" with "petty video games" but he was curious as to why I would spend so much money on a game. So he gave it a test run. Seeing a non-believer get an ear to ear smile that just proved him/her wrong is awesome.

It's amazing what a game like GT4 (or even the other GT titles, for that matter) can do to people. If anything fails, GT4 is worth playing just for the sheer amount of cars in the game... the physics are quite realistics and allow you to test-drive pretty much every car you ever dreamt of owning - minus the 'Big Three', of course... but I am sure they will come to the GT series, eventually. And I don't care if I will be 50 year old by then, I will still go buy my copy of GT#, and play like I was in my 20's again

indeed it is amazing. I'm nervous bout this whole WRS thing. I don't want to be on the bottom 10 Hopefully my experience from other racing games will help (GT series, Initial D Arcade stage..[top ten in the USA!! woot]).

No, but I keep hearing about Phantom D, Initial D in some post here and there in GTPlanet, and mostly in members' signatures.

I don't have an absolute clue on what those terms are supposed to mean.

If you would be so kind to shed some light, I would appreciate it, as I always wandered what those expressions stand for and what's truly behind them.

I support the another car, another track idea.
But I must wait until March 9th to buy GT4, so I have nothing to propose. (Mini Cooper @ Nürburgring ? )

Season is wrong. It's called (late) winter.
You should have come to the south of France, it has been snowing on the Mediterranean sea.
I hadn't seen that since 1986.

Kent didn't decide yet.
Or he didn't inform us, due to his internet connection problem.
We're now running week 106 (WRS weeks start on Tuesdays), and we expect the switch GT3 > GT4 to happen between week 107 and week 109.
So that'll be pretty soon.
Just keep an eye on this thread and you'll know as soon as it is posted.

It might start with a registration race to split racers into several divisions depending on their lap time.

That would be good. It would help the GT4 WRS scene make some progress while kent is away.

I hope there is no misunderstanding : Kent will decide when the WRS switches to GT4, Kent will post a registration race, Kent will find an alternate solution if he stays offl line too long, etc.
Just wait and see.

The game should be available to us europeans (and aussies as well) in 5 days.

I think I wanna start the GT4 WRS immediately. I've been expecting the game for almost a year and a half now...

Sorry for being slightly off-topic but do you guys know if GT4 and a USB flashdrive (or memory stick or whatever) can enable me to export replays for WRS? Or do I still need a Shark/Xport? Planning to get a USB memory and this ability would be an unexpected bonus..

I think so.
Codejunkies (who were retailing Shark/Xport) now sell the Maxdrive (16, 32 or 64 Mb) and you can upload and download .max files to share your replays and take a look at other drivers' replays.
However, the PAL / NTSC formats are not compatible and I think (never tested it) that you will only be able to share Maxdrive files (.max), not Sharkport (.sps) or Xport ones (.xps), unless converter exists.
I have a Sharkport to Xport (and vice versa) converter soft, which works fine for garages but not for replays, due to the framerate difference.

Yes. I remember now having seen this thread before.
However, with only a Max Drive and a PC you can save your (PAL) replays and garages (and other games saves) and share them with other people having a MaxDrive. Take a look here . Definitely worth it. I don't know how many people in the WRS do have now a Maxdrive, but since this device replaces the Xport which has been discontinued, this amount can only grow.

Kent only does.
Unfortunately last time he was on-line was last Thursday, when he got connected from school.
Just wait and see. The only thing to do is keep practising GT4 and race in the WRS...

If you are worried about compatibility issues, there is a converter to convert .max to sharkport/xport files and vice versa so you will be able to view anyone's .xps file via the max drive. I recommend getting the 16mb one, as you can store everything on the computer, and there is no need for getting a bigger capacity. It's a great investment 👍.

Or would you rather stay on GT3 until Kent is back ?

I personally don't know yet (I'll have my copy of GT4 in 26 hours), but I think the point has to be considered.

Somebody needs to setup GT4 qualification.. Somebody.. anybody.. T_T Going back to GT3 and getting used to it again would be a waste of time for me to do just to qualify..

I happen to be one of those rep types who can talk people into anything, so imagine my glee today at this precise hour, when i managed to talk the owner of my local games store to let me have GT4 early! (PAL)
Now i can join the ranx of the WRS GT4 stylee!

Exactly the opposite for me.
I'm ready to qualify as soon as I purchased the game.
If my qualif lap is crap, then I'll eventually be promoted to where I belong.

IMO, we consider this is week 107.
Posting another race (GT3 ?) and calling it 'week 107' would be pointless : nobody would run it (see how few people raced week 106).

BTW, any news from Kent anyone ?
