Remember PD's famous and often quoted dedication to realism? Well they are really stretching it these days..

Standard cars
Terrible AI
Unrealistic Races
No qualifying
Terrible sounds
Mediocre Graphics

I think this latest announcement demonstrates that PD's philosophy is diverging farther and farther from mine. As I said in another thread: GT is becoming a poor simulation of a simulator.

No sane development company would use PS2 graphics assets in a PS4 game, it is frankly ridiculous. Those people who want to play with standard cars still have their PS3's and GT5 or 6. If GT7 didn't include them they won't magically disappear from the games you already own.
By the logic they're using, they should also include every track that have been used in the series so far, regardless of quality. Where's Tahiti road or Pikes Peak? It'll look attrocious and ridiculous, but as they're saying, it's all about gameplay, right?

lol, yeah, the gameplay

now I think about it, I remember being gutted that F1 GP 4 didn't include the textureless version of Imola from F1GP2 - oh wait, no I wasn't :)

Really? That's all? The option of driving cars without interiors was all it took?

As T12 said, it has to do more with complacency than anything else. GT has made very little to no improvements in core areas like AI, sound, career mode, etc. Right now, GT is surviving off of gimmicks like the Vision GT cars. Half a year has gone by since release and still no word on when promised features like the course maker are going to arrive. And now we get hit with this big news.

Really, I've had enough.

I added some 🤬 for ya.

And with that I am done...

In early 2013 I hoped for a livery editor, improved sounds, a better track creator and things like this.
Then the first infos came through: Sounds will be improved, many customization options and a 100x100 km track creator in Ronda. I was excited as hell.

Then, later in the year, my major wish, the livery editor was confirmed not to be in the game.
Ok. No problem, but many awesome new cars, tracks, the (now 20x20 km) track creator and so on.

Before release: Most of the new feautres will come with later updates.
Ok, no problem again. That gives me more time to concentrate on playing the career before the new feautres are here.

Now we have some nice new cars and tracks, which I really appreciate, but one of the most requested improvements, the sounds, will come for GT7, improved photomode for GT7.

I am really angry, and sad because all of the people who said "That's just gonna be GT 5.5" are right.

Yes, we have great improvements like the new content and better physics, but that's what I paid 60 € for?

Can't wait for having money after finishing the work on my car to buy a good PC which can handle other games like AC, P C.A.R.S. and so on.

I came to GT with GT4, played GT5 from 2010 till 2013 at least once a week, and I'll leave with GT6 if nothing changes.

Your post resumes the scenario we are living right now. Back then at GT5 or GT6's release, GT didn't have so much strong competitors as GT7 will have with PCARS, Assetto Corsa, Forza 6, etc. If GT disappoints, now we have a number of other games to turn to.

Honestly, I think I'm done with GT after GT6. :indiff: I want a game that keeps me happy and always looking forward to new contents/features, not angry and disappointed. I also don't like arguing with others. Really I need a new game that keeps me smiling all the time, and Forza is one of those games along with Project CARS.

So Standards will be in the next game (but for serious, guys, I'm sure you totally won't have to use them if you don't want to). I bet they'll even be "functionally identical." Sounds will be improved in the next game. A new and exciting partnership between PD and some automotive-related group is in the works. PD is using a bunch of valuable development time making fake cars for publicity stunts rather than pouring all of their effort into improving the increasingly dire car list.

I love Bill Murray movies!

This is not cool.

A bunch of new articles on Gtplanet's main Webpage.

KAZ saying stuff like... My apologies for the sounds, going to fix them in GT7. My apologies for the flawed photo mode, my apologies for this for that... BTW, GT7 is not going to release this year... My apologies.

It's, it's...

GROUNDHOG DAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
That is not good when someone apologies for the things that they promise.

So, with today's news I finally decided that I will not be buying a PS4 for GT7. It's such a shame but I think that Kaz and co have forgot about what matters the most, and that is a consistently fantastic experience. I've always bought my Sony machines for GT and enjoyed other games on offer but with this latest piece of news...I'm afraid it's all but over unless there has been some horrible mis-translation.

I kind of miss the silence now.

Next gen doesn't start until PD says so! (I'm so sorry I just can't get over the fact we're going to see assets with this quality in 2-3 years when GT7 launches?? Really? haha  ) Maybe there is chance things will change. Maybe the competition will force Kaz & PD to rethink this? No I'm not suggesting taking the standards out of the game but what about outsourcing them so other people can clean them up? People say PD and Kaz are perfectionists but come on, you mean to tell me THIS is the work of a perfectionist?? I'd take a car model from GRID or anything over this sort of thing again.

God. Do you remember that awful Audi model? The one that is all black?

I've been a GT Player since buying GT3 & PS2 just for it. But after all the recent revelations I just cannot help thinking how much would it cost me to get an X Box One & Forza 5 (P Cars will be on the XB1 as well). I can't believe it, but I'm actually thinking of going over to the dark side...wait a minute...could that be the right side?

Do not go to the dark side yet VBR wait to 2015 and see what will happen.

Or you could go to PC.

This already seems like a joke to me on current (ps3) gen, but on ps4 it will be totally unacceptable. Even if they improve standard cars a bit that is still not good. People seem to forget that up until GT5 we never had two tiers of cars (dirt crap ones and nicely modelled ones) I have never seen it in any other game. I will not buy GT7 and I might not even buy a ps4.

Before I used to accept GT shortcomings (no damage, interiors, , dumb a.i., waiting +4 years for games to be released, etc) because I thought well, if PD can't make it that means it simply can't be done. But now although I hate to admit it we've had Forza for ten years now proving all those things can be done, and in only ten years they have surpassed them by a long shot. They already have a next-gen game. I will have to wait for Pcars to come out because I don't want to buy an Xbox. As for GT I will try to enjoy what's left of GT6 but I'm done with the series.

I just went to Forza's website to see what I have been missing and I find this extremely photo-realistic picture. I have not seen anything that comes close to this in any of PD's renders. I could stare at this for hours... View attachment 178122
Did you know that FM5 also gotten the Nurburgring? It. Looks. FANTASTIC! :D

Laser scanned too. ;) PD can't even compare their lifeless Nurburg to THIS beauty.

Ooh yes I saw that, it looks beautiful the only problem I have seen is that there are no weather/time changes but other than that it is superb. I also love that they took the trouble of laser scanning the track, I don't think PD has ever done that.

You can download an uncompressed 1080p video of forza's nurb here: http://www.gamersyde.com/game_2721_en.html (put on a bib you'll drool!)
