Reporting does nothing. Sony isn't going to go through all the fake reports just for my one real problem. Even if they did... They would say "Not our problem" just like everyone else. I'm probably just going to start banning everyone myself since Sony isn't going to do 🤬 about it, especially since it's not on PS4. Soon enough there will be maybe 1 or 2 people left on GT6...
I had this issue but to a lesser degree, in GT5. Me being me of course, I refused to engage anyone over PSN, so the first sign of stupidity in a PM, I just blocked them and that was that. I also don't engage people over the mic either or in lobby chat, it's not productive and ruins my fun. Easy to say but hard to do I know, but you have to just tune out the losers and move forward as best you can. Circuit racing on realistic tires is your best bet for a more mature experience on GT6, but that in itself is like a needle in a haystack sometimes as well.

Being a host is also a good way to control things. I was absolutely ruthless in maintaining decorum in my lobbies. At the first sign of stupidity I would just boot people without explanation because trying to explain to childish people that they are behaving childishly over the internet is foolish. If it was for questionable on track behaviour, so long as it could have been accidental, I would usually make a query or two instead of booting, but if I got any lip it was gonzo, no questions asked. Things sure smooth out in a hurry when you do that, especially when you explain to the remaining people why you booted someone. They get the hint really quickly.

I used to do that but I went for a quick DDoS since kicking isn't harsh enough for me. That's why the entire drag racing community hates me now... I tried doing just kicking with a few track day lobbies but started getting hated there as well...
Edit: Also, I'm not sure I can blocked thousands of people... There's probably a limit but that's not even my concern, I'm being spammed by thousands of people, I'm pretty sure it's not possible...

I don't have time to join leagues, I run 1 weekly race in my club, other than that I only go online occasionally.
The best way I found to keep bad players out of my lobby is to enable heavy damage & strong penalties, ban all driving aids, and setup very strict performance restrictions.
Joining random lobbies & quick race lobbies is a terrible idea, too many rammers, cheaters, childish players, etc.

PD really need to include a online driver rating system in the next GT game.

That's still a mystery that hasn't been solved, isn't it?

I wonder what's holding Polyphony back from modelling interiors on those cars. I have seen some interiors designed for some of the Vision GTs we saw so far, but there's still no interiors in those. Is it they don't want to model them? Do the manufactures not want PD to model an interior? Hmmmm...

To find an answer to this question, we must not use common sense. It doesn't work in all things Poliphony Digital. It's like trying to understand quantum physics by Newton's Laws.

Hello folks!

Been a damn long time!
I hope everyone is great and well!

Many things changed in my life since the last time we spoke.

First of all, I changed job. ( for the better, of course.) Now better pay, more fun, more time for myself.
Second, I'm buying a 2011 BMW 328xi. (6 speed manual of course) Everyone around me is telling me : you are going to go broke, don't buy that, changing a spark plug will cost you 1000$! But I don't care. I did my job, I'm fully aware of the journey i'm going into. And I got one life. Not two.

Now let's talk about video games.

DRIVECLUB

Gamespot gave it a 5 out of 10. That's bad. really bad. I got my PS4 for that whole game. mainly because GT6 was a mess (alright, everyone knows what I think of GT6, it's way worst than that.) but truth is I really wanted DRIVECLUB to be a great game. I was ready for it. Really! But then Gamespot gave it a 5. IGN not a lot better. many websites gave driveclub very bad reviews. So, finally, I decided to pass.

One day, I decided to rent the game. And God, that was a good idea. Gamespot said it was a 5. a lot of people said the game had abysmal driving physics. that the game was garbage, etc. etc.
But God... that's not the case! I really liked the game! It's arcade.... but for an arcade game, the handling is surprizingly very very good.

I'm happy I got that game finally.

PROJECT CARS

This game is 10 000% better than GT. Career mode is... crazy. It's really good. GT only has one thing over Project
Cars. And that's the car count. That's it. That's all.

Yeah. GT is in deep ****.

Like they say : that was kaz's vision!

I'm finally joining this dark thread. I'm really tired of PD's lazyness and that Course maker isn't out yet. Yet I would really love that GT becomes better because it has also many positive sides. It's just the gap between these negative sides (huge) and the positive ones (less ans less as time goes) that makes me angry. GT6 had everything to become a legendary game, the poor choices of the developpers really frustrate me..

Haha..nice avatar:sly:

GT6 is the worst of the series I've had it since 12/06/13 it's almost 2016 Where are the new cars at? When will this biggest waist of time Vision GT cars end? It seems like that's all PD cares about, while this outdated car list becomes even worse.... Except Nissian's precious GTR PD continues to add every model of that POS  I've been waiting for this Time Trial Simulator to get better but it will never happen I give up No GT7 for me I'm out.:banghead:

Well, 18 months on and we're still no closer to a course maker. We're not far from it being 12 months since Kaz said it was in beta, whatever that means to him.

Even if they were to put it out now, it would have to be amazing to pull me away from playing Witcher 3, Heroes of the Storm, pCARS, AC, and whatever else appeals to me in my ever growing Steam library. Hell, soon MGS V will be out too, and I highly doubt a course maker will pull me away from that.

The longer this goes on, the more amazing the course maker is going to have to be to even compete with current games.

Perhaps there is an issue with the course maker and that why PD has not put it out yet.

...

Noooooo. It got no problemos. That's why it's not out yet. They just enjoy holding it back, release it a couple of days before GT7 hits so we can keep playing 6 forever in the hopes of CM!!

{Sarcasm}

I'd very much like to know what that issue is then.

It was in beta 11 months ago, and according to Kaz; working and in his hands. It was just a question of ''when we can deliver it to users is still up in the air''. I'm guessing not anytime soon.

Probably never. It's too hard for them to go from a beta working stage to final stage concerning a feature of a game, not even the game itself. They probably were fed up. Now I am too.

The issue is probably PD's same old tried and true excuse they give - "the current hardware will not allow us to achieve what we're after..." Seems to be a recurring issue with every GT release.

That there is an issue is not in doubt. Either there's an issue, or Polyphony are the biggest pack of morons the world has ever seen to be holding back a completed product. Nobody is that dumb.

On the other hand, there's probably quite a lot to be said about how well their planning and/or internal communications work. Kaz annouced it as damn near ready for release, which obviously didn't happen due to some issue. Then he announced it was in beta, which would strongly imply that it's near release state which didn't happen due to some issue.

That there are issues is not a problem. That Polyphony seems to have announced a feature that was somewhere between "that would be a cool idea" and "it doesn't seem that hard" is not promising. Clearly they had no idea what they were getting into, and if they can't get something out in 18 months then there's probably a real chance that it's not possible at all.

This happens to games all the time, but usually developers are smart enough to do the work up front and find out what is and isn't a viable feature beforehand. If you announce features with no idea whether they're actually feasible, stuff like this happens.

I feel sorry for the programmers at PD. I have the horrible feeling that someone high up said "this is how it's going to be, make it so", ignoring the programmers pointing out that it was unlikely to be possible. It happens all the time in product development, and if the people actually doing the development aren't forward enough to push back on management when they get given dumb projects, then bad stuff happens.

I hear your concerns. Like the saying around my place of work. The dumber an idea is the more feasability of it going ahead.

Even complaining about GT has gotten old :)
Can't believe there are still so many people hanging onto this game, when it is so flawed and dated compared to the multitude of other racing games that are available nowadays.

I agree. Haven't touched the game for probably over 6 months, i just find these discussions more enjoyable than GT6 actually itself. Plus I'm annoyed the course maker hasn't been released yet considering it was slatted as a soon coming feature, 18+ months ago since GT6's release.

I summed up my concerns with the whole series here:
https://medium.com/@simonmeisinger/an-open-letter-to-polyphony-digital-849f1480f3b3

I tried a different approach, ignoring the sound, the standard cars, the lack of damage and whatever many other people think has to be changed.

Would be nice to hear what some of you think about it.
I think almost the same thing, but there are also many otjer things that need to be covered about the negative aspect of GT of today.
It is true before the AI was way more challeging, and there were standing starts, very specific to GT (yes today the opposite is true..). I played the old GT's when I was young and was always excited to start a new race and hear the little music of the start of the race and the huge revvs of the AI cars, the memories... Today all this is very old now..

I only mentioned it on a sidenote (don’t know if people read them), but I recently started a new play through in GT1 just to see if it’s just my memory or if it really was better. And it was better. It’s really an extremely fun and challenging racing game.

The cars don’t really drive anything like real cars though, but I didn’t expect that anyway. Yet they were some kind of believable and tinkering around with your suspension is just as fun in GT1 as it is now :-)

They have shot themselves in the foot. Lets say they just cant get it to work and thus can never release a course maker in the form they marketed it, Then what? how are they going to explain that one? Not least because Kaz said he had a working beta in his hands so he is going to look like a huge lier if one never gets released

I doubt it matters much either way now, to be honest.

It would have to be super incredible to make an impact at this point, otherwise it's just going to be another patch on an old game on a legacy system.

Timing matters.

They've already burnt their bridges as far as trust goes for people who actually expected the course maker. They already have a reputation for false promises, as seen with the still ongoing VGT saga, the bollocks about monthly track DLC, the complete BS that is their "improved" sound and aero systems.

Only a fool would believe anything about GT7 that is in promotional materials. The fact that whenever something is announced for GT6 now the standard response on the forums is "don't get your hopes up, expect nothing and you won't be disappointed" shows exactly how much even many fans trust PD's word.

I've been away for a bit.
Just come back and am astonished by the moronic coding in the company now.
Log in and get told there's an update... I decline as it's 250Mb and my internet is slow.
Half way through a race, approaching a chicane... screen goes black with a message that there's an update available.... crash.
Are they complete morons at polyphony digital!? Who TF would programme that into the game??? Have they all had MMR shots or eating only GMO food? Where the feck have their brains gone??? I couldn't believe anyone could be so stupid... why not just wait until the end of the race to remind me there's a bloody update?
Pricks.

...I feel your pain, man. What you describe here, have happened to me a few times before. :ill:
