What people seem to forget is that just because the PS4 is coming out, the PS3's lifetime isn't over. The PS2 just stopped selling in 2012, after 11-12 years, selling alongside the PS3 for 6 years. Don't forget that and take it into consideration before you judge the game and what it could be capable of.
Also PD could have done what they did with GT3 in GT5 too, and completely gotten rid of everything old and kept only the new vehicles (the Premiums) just to make things look new and fresh.
Basically what I'm saying is the graphics will still look good even if it's on a previous-gen console with some lesser detailed cars, especially if the lighting is improved and the Standards are touched up.

Are there going to be standards in GT6? Please tell me no. I would rather have only 400 cars in the game than 1200 cars, some models that have been used since at least gt4.

Plus, bring back the nike one 2022 because I thought it was one of the coolest cars in GT4.

I'm sorry to tell you this cyanide, but yeah; standards have been comfirmed to be in GT6, but there is going to be at least 400 premium cars though. The standards have been said to look better though and some of them are going to be converted to premium status.

I still find that the standards are a bit annoying to be kept in GT6. I don't even know why Kaz is bothering to keep the duplicates and I hope that he gets rid to the standard counterparts of the premium cars; they're pointless to keep. Why would I drive the lesser quality car when there's a better version of it available?

Well fudge. I'm still going to get the game though.

Will the standards have some sort of interior instead of the black void the cars get in GT5? Because that will be better than nothing.

Unfortunately, no. Of course, I'm still not exactly sure on what the standards are going to be like in GT6. I'm hoping for E3 at least to shed some light to me on what some of them will be like.

definitely not picking up GT6 after seeing that grand valley east replay, literally nothing changed other than the lighting, smh.

The Grand Valley video reminded me of the one thing I despise most in Gran Turismo: rolling starts with the player in last place.

First of all I really don't like rolling starts. They take away the potential drama and overtaking opportunities of a grid start and the rolling intro is often too long and just plain boring in GT. Furthermore, there's no skill involved. Few things are as satisfying as really nailing your pdeal control and gear shifts, sending you flying out of the blocks past the next row of the grid (assuming you weren't on the first row). Of course GT opponents are so braindead a standing start is often a nightmare where you have to evade several seemignly inanimate objects while a faster car just ploughs through the field from the back, but how about you just improve the bloody AI instead?

Then there's the constantly starting in last place, what's up with that? In GT3 we had practice and qualifying for every race, as it should be. Then in GT4 they removed it from single events and in GT5 it was completely gone. I just don't understand it. How difficult is it to add a practice button in the pre-race menu? And what in heaven's name is wrong with qualifying that they actually had to take it out? There's nothing worse than constantly doing less than 5 lap races, starting in last place with a rolling start. Almost the entire game of GT5 consists of obstacle courses and overtaking challenges because of it.

It's this sort of horrendous decision making by PD that's made me extremely frustrated with the series, and if it continues, will turn me away completely. There's tremendous potential in the GT games and there's an opportunity to make a landmark title of GT6, but with Kaz and PD being so stubborn and ideosyncratic in their approach I don't hold high hopes.

I'm still of the opinion that GT5 has rolling starts because the low speed physics cause such problems with standing starts (in that they are utter un-realistic), but what makes matters worse is that GT5 then manages to get rolling starts wrong as well.

We should not have to wait until we pass the Start/Finish line before going full throttle, that occurs as soon as the first car passes the Start/Finish line!

So PD how about you fix both of these things for GT6.

It is most likely due to AI being slow, not much of a challenge otherwise for players. Hopefully AI gets a lot faster.

+1!

And how about the fact that the clock for the AI only starts running when you cross start/finish by which time the AI is already half-way through the lap, resulting in a completely impossible lap-time for the AI's first lap?

Or that the first sector gap is completely off (because the AI was going 80km/h through the complete first sector)?

To be honest if that is the reason its a rather poor one to say the least, as it creates a number of issues (as outlined below), the poor AI already mean most people have to mess around to get a competitive race in A-class and this doesn't really balance it out at all.

Oh, I do also believe you were going to provide me with a physics lesson as well?

The double file rolling start formations also need to be sorted out as they are also too spread out. Many races that I've seen that had rolling starts had the field more bunched together.

As E3 is upon us I just can't work up much enthusiasm.

I hope that GT6 is all that we hoped GT5 would be. But I just can't get excited like I did before. No preorder. No collector's edition. Just wait and see and hope it doesn't suck.

Very true! The hype for GT5 was unparalleled. Nothing like it is right now...it seems dead in here...

But that's because GT5 disappointed so hard. We're scarred.

And GT6 has so much to prove. If there's a cat left in PD's bag, it better be a tiger or a lion!

I know what you mean. Since the huge disappointment that is GT5 I have no faith in PD and Kaz anymore, and he's got his head way too far up his own *** to do anything about it. Sure, GT5 is good, but it's very inconsistent, mostly because of the standard cars, yet it was in development for 5 or 6 years. Now it's been almost 3 more years since it was released and it looks like GT6 will have more or less same inconsistency. This is not cool.

Fortunately GT6 is far from the only game I care about though, so E3 will still be exciting for me.

i played skyrim on PS3 (both block and slim) it was so slow, then i tried it on my PC (2009;i7). it was much faster (only few seconds).

i think GT6 on PS3 is a very bad idea since GT5 was slow as well

I hope you've reading on GT6's info about the UI being more faster than the one in GT5, meaning the game should load a lot more faster now. :sly:
New User Interface

Balancing directional key operation and touch operation
Quick response
Shortening of loading times

what about the game loading itself not the UI only?

Well in the demo where Jordan was playing after selecting a track and car, the game did load pretty fast, but that's all know. I'm not sure if it's the same with the full game. *shrugs* :\

Sony says that GT6 has a much lighter structure than GT5, which in their own words became a monster. So hopefully this new structure will provide better loading times.

I'm sorry, but I have to post this.

I'm finding it rather sad on how people are already complaining about a game that hasn't even been released, let alone has an even confirmed release date (The only confirmed release is a Demo, due for July).

First of all, Gran Turismo 6 upon it's announcement, already seemed like a surefire cash in to be on PS3 and not the upcoming PS4. Why? Simple, PD had been developing GT6 shortly after GT5 was released THREE YEARS AGO. This was well before the PS4 was even in a proper development, and no known dev kit for the PS4 properly existed back then. Not to mention, PD has had a tradition of having 2 Gran Turismos per Playstation (Gran Tuismo 1 and 2 on Playstation, Gran Turismo 3 and 4 on Playstation 2, and Gran Turismo 5 and now 6 on Playstation 3). Whilst I'm sure many of us (myself included) Would prefer GT6 on the PS3, it makes more sense to place it on the PS3 as a way to give the console a final swan-song before moving to the PS4 full time.

Second, it's rather quite impossible with the PS3's limited, outdated hardware to properly obtain 1200 Premium Cars all on one disc for the cars. Whilst I believe they could've done a GT2 where they seperated both the Arcade and Gran Turismo modes away from each other, it still shows that the PS3 is at a time where it's aging hardware is now starting to show, and though it means we won't see all Premium Cars, to see 200 new additions to the roster plus an improved Standard Model lineup (in terms of Graphics) is a nice addition to my opinion.

3rd, I can't go one day without seeing someone complaining about the sound. I don't know a single game that gets sound proper. Sure they can get close, but I've never played a racing game that properly gets the engine note of a car completely 100% accurate. The people who are already complaining about the sound, keep in mind that the only gameplay videos that are around right now are of fans who used external sources to record footage, thus distorting the sound? Not to mention, the game's currently not in a final release state, so there could be some changes along the way. For example, Gran Turismo 2's sounds were heavily revamped in the final release compared to earlier demo builds.

I've grown up and the series and will still continue to try out each iteration since I'm always intrigued to see what they do with each release. Gran Turismo 5 had many disappointing things about it, so I'm curious to see what they improve with GT6.
You must be new here because a lot of people on here do nothing but complain about GT.

For me the game would've been a ton more disappointing without standard cars. Your opinion is not an universal one.

Nice. 👍 Hope it goes well. :)

Of course it would have been more disappointing IMO. Agreed.

I agree. I am glad the standard cars were there.
For almost a year, I've been doing nothing but cycling Standard cars in and out of my Favorites list to race them on all the tracks in Arcade Mode. Wouldn't be as good a game without them.

I really hope the career mode is good. A-spec in GT5 is so awful. Last week I finally replaced my junk DFGT with a G27 and I decided to kill 2 birds with one stone by finally running the Suzuka 1k to learn the new wheel.

Well it worked for learning the wheel. After a couple dozen laps I was in the groove.

Then after a couple dozen more laps I was bored.

Then after a couple dozen more laps I was so bored I couldn't continue.

No I wasn't using a super-powered car. I was in a 600PP GT500 car. I could have used a lower power car to make it more competitive but that wouldn't make this 6 hour snoozer much more interesting.

I found the GV enduro fun and the N4 fun. The LS enduro wasn't terrible. The Indy 500 was boring but at least it didn't take too long.

I haven't done the others. They're boring. Painfully boring.

I say again, I hope GT6 career mode has what GT5 A-spec failed to deliver.

I get what you're saying and I've enjoyed many of them too, but first of all, I don't think there should be two classes of cars to begin with. Not professional at all. Second, you shouldn't have to cycle anything in your garage to be able to use them in Arcade Mode. Another pointless step to get to racing. Third, perhaps you've been spending a year doing this because the Career Mode was almost nonexistent and didn't use 90% of the cars in the game. Not picking on you, just the design of the game, that's all.

I pretty much agree with you two guys above me. Like I've been saying in contrast with Forza, the cars are too well planted on the road, stable and safe, and pretty easygoing as you try and push them to their limits. The bots are polite and boring and just there for the most part. They hate getting passed, but get a substantial lead on them and they tend to wimp out. And yeah, all the strange decisions in GT5 and the short A-Spec "career" make it seem very small and slapped together.

I expect GT6 to be the game we were expecting in 2010, just supersized. Of course, on that we'll see, but they have been working on what they could in GT5, so I feel pretty good about the sequel, even though it really should be on PS4. :P
