Does Polyphony Digital care about continuity? They made an Indianapolis 500 race out of sportscars. They made a Nurburgring 24 hours race out of prototypes. Cars at Isle of Man isnt that bad in comparison.

I had suspicions GT6 wasn't coming to PS4. From reading the statements made I think Kaz thought he was being asked, will we see Gran Turismo on PS4? Not, will we see Gran Turismo 6 on PS4?

One month before the GT6 on PS3 announcement Sony showed a video of Yamauchi at the PS4 announcement praising the PS4. Then suddenly we wont see a Polyphony Digital game on the PS4 for at least 2-3 years? Sony and Polyphony Digital do a really good job of leading people on and raising hopes, only to dash them. The dubbed sounds in the Hill Climb video. If the final thing doesnt sound like that...once again leading people on only to disappoint.

Sorry to jump in on another of your comments, but...what?

He can love the PS4 as a piece of kit but still be producing GT6 on the PS3. That kind of decision was made quite some time ago - it's not like he can turn around and say, 'Nah, I think we'll do it for the 3 instead - should have it all changed by next month...'

My previous comment still stands...whacky stuff, pure and simple.

You want the AIs on GT's Indy 500 use Formula GTs?

PD might have to do those because of possible legal issues, though. ;)

I already have a PC and racing sims. But the idea of this is to make Gran Turismo better for a lot of people with something that (as you mentioned) is easily implemented. I still find it mind boggling that developers release racing games without the ability to adjust the FOV. Same goes for fps games on PC but that's a whole other story.
Common sense and Poliphony Digital are like two parallel lines,

they never meet.

Good luck with your attempt,

I warned you. ;)

I was using this thread to test the water. It seems everyone is content with only three options for FOV or using a dodgy work around.

How about the timing? At that point GT6 had not been announced, and it led many to believe he was working on a PS4 project. The shot of him in the PS4 video should have been deleted.

Want? In the Indianapolis Motor Speedway's 100 year history only two types of vehicles have raced on the oval, openwheel and for just the past 15 years stock cars.

They get away with Le Mans cars racing 24 hours at Le Mans not sure why they couldnt here

Well its alot to ask for 2 releases and going up against to brand new IPs on the Ps4. I can see why Sony did that. Release to a console that no one has traded in yet (2 months later maybe) most sales possible or release on a console thats just out that could hurt new IPs that do look good and fun.
GT6 will get the most out of the PS3
DriveClub/theCrew will show off PS4 capability
Later down the line GT7 will show what the PS4 can really do.

Makes sense.

Nice summary. I think porting GT6 to the PS4 was a bad idea anyway. This means they'll get to work sooner on GT7 :)

Kazunori san was a part of the PS4's development, so why wouldn't he be there. Nothing there really gave anything concrete about GT6 coming to the PS4. Perhaps the hype on this site led you to believe it meant that...but that is just this site, which over analyses everything to do with GT and then gets all disappointed again when suppositions turn out to be groundless.

Remember when whisperings of what Drive Club became first turned up there were reports that they wanted to use the Gran Turismo name. Obviously at some point before that, years ago, Sony knew PD themselves wouldn't have a GT game ready for PS4 (as they were working on GT6) in the first two years. So somewhere in Sony the idea was created for another first party studio to create a spin off GT game for PS4 in the meantime.

Now as we know it didn't get the GT name and it's now Driveclub but with that in mind and now we know GT6 is a PS3 game it's easy to see why there won't be a GT game on PS4 for a while and Driveclub was/is meant to fill the void by Sony.

One thing I liked about the GT academy demo was the comedic way the Nissan GT-R wobbles and understeers around even the most acute corners... I mean I love it because you hardly ever see anything like that in real life... most amusing.

Simple fact is that GT5 was a hyped up, overdue, visual mess that gave us very little new. By releasing GT6 on PS3, and saying it's 'what GT5 should have been', is only PD's excuse for messing up with GT5

GT6 so far looks like GT5 with some more tracks and cars, and menus that don't suck, as far as I can tell. Not terribly promising.

If there was anything that wasn't wrong with GT5, it was the numbers of tracks and cars.

And Is there something with that? I can pretty much say the same thing to any other game with a first game of the series having little content with bugs and gliches. And when that said game releases its sequal, it'll basically have loads of content and bugs as well glitches solved.

So what excuse PD has for messing up GT5? It had a half-assed A&B Spec events. It had a terrible UI. Each menu takes forever to load. Its course maker was also half-assed and so on. GT6 can be "what GT5 should have been" with all these things hopefully solved.

Alternately - GT5 brought online to the series (well, GT5:P did first but not everyone wanted to buy that) it had day/night transition with weather for a number of tracks, all very well realised and it had a superior photomode which has been improved throughout.

It also brought a track creator to the table, there were also Seasonal Events added - love it or hate it these were all new to GT.

So, in all fairness have to contest the 'nothing new' statement.

Reading comprehension.
Got me there...

Seasonal Events are just Driving Missions with a different name. Should have used drifting as the example instead.
Drifting and TT come under the seasonals, do they not? Maybe calling them Online Events would have been better, but I thought folks might think I was talking about online in general.

+1 here. Any game uses a number to specify FOV, why it shouldn't be user specified is beyond me especially in a sim.

Thanks for the support :)

Maybe I will start a thread to gauge response. The worst that can happen is people ignore it. Or maybe I'll make it a yes no pole. Or maybe put on a voice like Batman and intimidate PD.

Sorry, started thinking out loud.

While enduring reading more whining from someone about how GT Academy favours kids with all the time in the world on their hands, I had a thought.

Who out there would find it compelling to have time trials (Seasonal Event type thing) where one could practise as much as possible but press a button to designate prior, when a lap will be registered? Perhaps with a limit of say 3-5 laps that could be registered. Would make for a very dynamic scenario when going from practice, to putting that practice into practice. (that was intentional) Tension and intensity are great things in a game I reckon.

Sounds like a good idea, designating your Q lap before you run it, not based on your fastest time. A TT with that concept but with multiple laps counting and fast tire wear on, to put more emphasis on consistency and smooth driving would also be a welcome change.

Something else I'd like to see is a "Car of the Month" type of idea. Each TT is run with a new car as now, but another is run parallel to it on the same track but with a different car that remains the same for a month or so, and those would be the iconic cars in the game. The Yellowbird, NSX Type R, Countach, 69' Vette etc. Lap times would be cumulative over the month and at the end of the month the top Driver would be the GT6 driver of the month, which might include the prize of a trip to PD's head office, or some racing event featuring previous GTA winners.

Yes to this, and I might add : a special themed TT ( night driving, disable all assist TT, drivetrain theme - FF only, specific country or year range ) in conjunction with the usual flavors -- call it special expert level TT

Definitely a no brainer to have many more sort options as well so people can compare their times to those using the exact same setup as them, regardless of what it might be. Gives more people a chance to compete at a higher level. It's not so exciting maybe to finish 1017 overall without ABS but to be number 23 vs. everyone else not using ABS is something different altogether:idea:💡 323 overall vs. 8th in your country...you get the picture. :sly:

This fella has already done all the work, PD need only hire him on at a generous 6 figure salary, give him a couple of assistants and it's a done deal!!

okay so, GT6 and PS4 releasing almost at the same time, early December that is IF no delay occurs ... yes, I'm looking at you PD. And I'm baffled with their marketing strategy, GT6 is advertised as game with heavy DLC support, which would be good thing, if the game was released 1 year before PS4 release so I can play through the game, buy DLC, do online league racing, etc.
Now, at the same time they are trying to sell me PS4 with strongest launch line-up in PlayStation history and I'm pretty much looking forward to it.

I don't want to buy GT6 if I know that new tracks (and cars) are ready to be released as DLC ... to make my whining short, I just don't see GT6 offering is enough to make me postpone PS4 buy, maybe if GT6 was released as complete as possible with all tracks they have ready.

GT6 looks excellent. I hope for 3 things though.

1) Right analogue stick as external camera rotation. Or at least the option, if not default. Practically industry standard on driving games thesedays, it's bizzare not to include it when you have such amazing car models.

2)Pre-baked online car selections/setups. What I mean by this, in GT5 you get a default ****** limited list, OR a custom car. In GT6 there should be groups of say 8-10 cars that perform similarly that will give good races. There should be a huge variety of these groups. This would make it really easy to setup "fair" races. Yes, this is a noob feature, but GT5 online was just a dizzying mess to me, and unless you picked a car from the default list you ended up picking one that you had no idea how it would compare to others.

3)Of course, improved sounds.
