okay so, GT6 and PS4 releasing almost at the same time, early December that is IF no delay occurs ... yes, I'm looking at you PD. And I'm baffled with their marketing strategy, GT6 is advertised as game with heavy DLC support, which would be good thing, if the game was released 1 year before PS4 release so I can play through the game, buy DLC, do online league racing, etc.
Now, at the same time they are trying to sell me PS4 with strongest launch line-up in PlayStation history and I'm pretty much looking forward to it.

I don't want to buy GT6 if I know that new tracks (and cars) are ready to be released as DLC ... to make my whining short, I just don't see GT6 offering is enough to make me postpone PS4 buy, maybe if GT6 was released as complete as possible with all tracks they have ready.

I understand that a lot of people are annoyed that GT6 is being released on PS3 and not PS4, but there are some things to take into consideration.

I suspect GT6 had been in development for some time before PD knew PS4 was imminent. They are not simply going to throw all that development time away. They maybe could have tried to port their existing build over to PS4 but a) it was optimised for PS3 architecture and b) It wouldn't have been programmed from the ground up to take advantage of the more powerful hardware, so it wouldn't be truly next gen and people would be mad as hell.

They already said they started to program it more modularly for reuse. I think it will be on PS4 eventually as "GT6 Vision" or something.

I'd rather they put that development time towards a proper sequel and not just a port with a new coat of paint.

I dunno, if we are waiting for a new game we might be waiting until 2017, you really want the PS3 to be your best GT experience until then?

Common sense and Poliphony Digital are like two parallel lines,

they never meet.

Good luck with your attempt,

I warned you. ;)

True.

:ouch:

Common sense dictates that they should have scrapped at least 60 cars because there are A LOT of duplicates: All Vauxhall cars, several Hondas, Mazdaz, Nissans and other Japanese cars, the Standard XJR9... and yet, they will make a comeback... forget about them being standards, I'm more or less ok with that... but come on... :ouch:

Bottom line: I still see a game with an outdated lineup...

It's the gaming equivalent of sticking a pair of socks down the front of your pants. Makes you look big and manly and strong, until you go into the changing room and people see how insecure you really are.

GT should be good enough to sell on it's own merits without this ridiculous number padding. Clearly, they don't think it is. And don't have a particularly high opinion of their customers, that they think they'd be fooled by that.

15th Anniversary Liveries looks like the most lazy and boring work made by a 2d artist in the last 15 years in the industry. They boosted car count and created a pre order bonus in about 15 minutes of man's work.

To Lameness and beyond!

Have to agree on the 15th Anniversary livery. It not only does look dull but also pretty ugly in general on most of the cars. I personally found 5 or so cars that actually looks good with the livery. The R18 is gorgeous though.

IMO, the race cars look best with the 15th Anniverssary livery. Especially the SLS AMG GT3. It's nice to see it in a paint scheme other than that boring gray color.

That's funny because the only car that I didn't like was the R18!

It's a tiny improvement but still looks like a plain blue livery. It's too simple, I'm not against simplicity but it has not enough decals on the side, they basically have none. Audi R18 is the exception that confirm the rule, it has some on the shark finn.

A decent SLS GT3 livery scheme should be like this:
http://www.dubaiblog.it/wp-content/...-24-dubai-2011/mercedes_sls_amg_gt3_dubai.jpg
or this
http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/9/91/Mercedes-Benz_SLS_AMG_GT3.JPG
or this

or this

Then you can add lots of sponsors or just a few, what I'm saying is it doesn't even resemble a livery attempt on the side. It has no design, plain blue. Stealth cars were much more cool and well made, not only because of the carbon fiber, because of the overall design.

There PD goes again! Putting liveries on cars for us, but not letting us do it ourselves.

Remember how it took 5 full games for us to be able to just change our cars' paint color (in GT Auto)?

By that math, maybe in GT10 we'll get a livery editor.

A lot of people seem to be planning on ditching the PS3 the moment PS4 arrives. I on the other hand will be holding on to my PS3 as I did my PS2 and original XBOX. It seems to be very common these days to buy a game, complete it and then sell it on to finance the next purchase. I am not one of those people. I only sell games I don't like or wont play again.

So for me who still plays games from the 80's, I'm fine with playing it on PS3. One of my pet hates is when new consoles are released and they release previous gen titles (some multi platform on both new and old gen) just with slightly prettier graphics. I'd much rather wait for a game that is legitimately next gen, built from the ground up.

👍

I tend to go one step further; I don't even buy games I know I won't like :P. Ever since I've been buying games for myself, I don't see the point in buying one I'm not going to want around after very long. Sure, some of them I don't like that much comparatively (FFX-2 is weaksauce compared to the original), but I keep them in case I want to revisit them. Hell, I just restarted FFVII for what's probably the 10th time this week.

There's so many good games out there for the PS3, that I just don't understand those who'd want to ditch it the moment the new system is out. I assume at least some of those people are younger, and don't have to worry about the financial part of it, and that age group also has a lot more time to put into playing video games, so maybe they've already explored the library? For me though, I know GTA5 and Arkham Origins alone will keep me occupied well into 2014, to say nothing of games I've yet to complete in my collection (Uncharted 3, LA Noire), nor ones I haven't bought yet (Bioshock).

Plus, considering the lack of backwards compatibility with the new generation, why wouldn't you want to keep your system? We've got 7 consoles!

Well, technically, GT5 (and GT6) falls into that pet hate, at least going by its graphic assets. Much of the stuff we can't see, though, is of course all new to the generation 👍

I agree. PS3 still has years of life left. From what I understood from Sony was that PS4 is an addition to a gamer's console base, not a replacement, and I agree. It's going to be a different way of playing.

Grand theft auto, and gran turismo will keep me busy well into 2015 at minimum. I don't think my ps3 will ever be sold/gone for that matter. I'm not saying I won't buy a ps4 in the future though. (Like Christmas 2014)

Being that this is the place for complaints...
This is the same complaint I've had since GT4.

Too many Skylines!
No seriously, too many cars I don't care for are in the game and it takes time away from the tasks they need to focus on more closely.

How many Skylines (new and used) are in the game? How many economy cars are the in the game? It's not that I dislike skylines, I just don't see the need for 6 different R34s. ('99 gtr, '00 gtr, '02 gtr, vspec versions of each, nur editions, vspec II, and on and on... :banghead: ).

The time spent on including so many cars takes away from more important issues on a variety of levels including but not limited to, modifications, custom liveries, huge mistakes on the car list, physics, or plain old smoothness in gameplay.

Exactly. Plus I hate to say it the wasted time on the photo mode. Is photo mode cool? YES Is photomode impressive? YES does it improve the game as a racing game? NO. Honestly it may not be a popular opinon here but I would trade photomode for a well balanced car list that has european and american cars both classic and modern that are relevant to racing both amateur and professional. PD just needs to go to a few racing events or even track days both in the US and Europe and see what turns up.

I am to the point of being disappointed with GT5 and a bad feeling of GT6 being 5.5 that I may not get it on the 1st day of sale which I havent done since GT2.

Have you ever seen the photomode subforum? Quality and quantity wise it's one of those that make this site and has the potential of being the very best marketing tool of GT6, if PD uses it properly.

GT 5.5? I hope not.

Lets face facts. PS3 is an obselete piece of kit.
1 3.2GHZ Power 5 CPU and 6SPUs that are non independent. All instructions are fed through the Power 5 core.
It has a crap (by2013s standard) GPU, an Nvidia 7800GTX GPU and split memory pools of 256MB XDR@3.2ghz and 256MB DDR3.

Its a mess, YET, Guerilla Games, makers of Killzone series ported their PS3 engine unto PS4. They had a press conferance today detailing it.

The PS4 has 8 Cores, each between 1.6GHz and 2GHz.
8GB GDDR5 ram at 176gb/s
and a HD7850 GPU.

What they did was basically emulate the PS3 instruction set on PS4 by having 6SPUs emulate by the 6CPU cores on PS4 to distribute the CPU loads. They used the remaining two PS4 CPU's to emulate the POWER PC Core, and then ofloaded the rest to the GPU.

SO, why didnt PD announce GT6 being cross-gen if its that simple to do????
The PS4 Graphics Card is literally 10× the power of PS3s AND, there is a unified pool of memory.
I am disappointed. I really am.

First GT I may skip......... :(

Being a driver and a gamer driver I fell asleep surfing that tirade of techy gibber jabber as I'm sure most everyone here did

So when do we DRIVE?

OH and in the spirit of the thread: GT6 SUCKS because it doesn't have every dream and wish I've ever had for racing simulator like its EXCLUSION of unicorns, pegisi and earth ponies so I'm going to give it a pass.

Good for you:indiff:

Personally I don't care about photo mode although I realise it is popular, but focusing on only racing and sporty cars would spoil the game for me big time. I love the whole "oh look, my gran has that car, I wonder how quick I can get it round Nordschleife?" thing (actually both sets of grandparents have been dead for years but you get the idea). Taking things like the pick up trucks or people carriers out for a few laps is a great source of enjoyment for me.

I also play PC racing sims, but the majority of them focus almost exclusively on race cars. One of the reasons I am looking forward to Assetto Corsa so much is because road cars will feature heavily. However the range of cars is going to be more narrow, so it will never serve as a replacement for Gran Turismo, simply an alternative.

2nd post on this forum. I've been a GT fan since the beginning and now that there is a 'complaints' thread ill add my tuppence in.

IMHO PD are masters of hype but have failed to deliver in recent outings. They failed with GT5, mainly on the sound and AI front (amongst others) and they look like they're going to fail in these areas again. Such a shame as they seem to have nailed it in many other places. Notice how all the promo videos have sound clips from actual engine sounds and tyre squeal? We won't be enjoying that in game. Similarly, for all the exciting looking racing with sweeping Top Gear style camera angles, what we will actually experience in game will be the usual procession of cars that hasn't changed since the beginning. I'd love to be proven wrong, but on the evidence so far I'm afraid it'll be more of the same. Will not be pre-ordering.

Epic whining? No, just disappointed. PD need to pay attention...

I dont mind the random non sports cars for the most part but the sports road cars and racing cars that are excluded shows that PD is not only operating with JDM blinders on but also behind the times. Plus alot of the American cars including the pickups are wrong from stats/info/price to options for tuning. Its crazy to me that they Hit SEMA every year and just ignore all stuff for the street cars and pick one random over the top car and go home.

Finally someone who gets it! Although I wouldn't agree that AI is a big issue as I'm more focused on the online aspect of the game, with which they certainly failed as well.

This place is full of GT fanboys who will pre-order GT6 just for the sake of it, without knowing anything about the game basically, or if it will be any good.

What if only half or a third of these people would pre-order the game? Perhaps PD would then start to improve their work in the future?
