There is no way to abolish the EC without a constitutional amendment. To get a constitutional amendment takes a supermajority of the states. So anybody calling to abolish the EC is merely preening and pissing into the wind, an inescapably miserable exercise in futility.

Exactly why the constituation is outdated. Only a small minority can block any amendment that a country sometimes maybe desperately need. It sounds more like the tyranny of the minority then majority. The EC was put in place to compromise to the south at the time, they have reaped the benefits ever since.

Right, I'm sure they really reaped it during the 2008-2016 election cycles...

Two out of the last three presidents took office while garnering the second-most votes, in no small part due to southern states with relatively small populations. That they had to endure the horrors of the Soviet Muslim for a few years in between doesn't negate the very real advantage they have.

She's starting to realize her campaign had no actual tact to it aside from catchy punchlines and "eye-contact & sob stories" with the cameras during the debate... No wonder people don't support those who fail to show a decent policy with a good backing behind it.

Prediction: Neoliberal corporatist Democrats, realizing their horse Biden is failing and extreme leftist Warren is threatening to lead the party to a losing election, will soon raise a new centrist candidate, either Bloomberg or Hillary.

I am interested why you posted this?
Because of all the talk about how undemocratic the electoral college is.

You know what is even more undemocratic? Trying to pass a constitutional amendment.

Trying to pass anything isn't undemocratic by definition.

The key word "Trying"

Looks like your spot on.

Still hoping for some moderate with clout (Sup, Michael Bloomberg) to step into the race, if it's not too late.

Or Al Franken. That guy is awesome.

That'll be Warren that picks up the Bernie supporters if he drops out I presume. Pretty sure that will seal the deal for her to get the nomination. If M.Bloomberg doesn't drop in that is...

Too late for a Michael Bloomberg / Al Franken ticket? That's my dream team.

My current preferences on the D team, in order:
Pete
Yang
...
.
......
Biden
Warren
Bernie
...whoever else is left

Hard to get excited about anyone to be honest.

I said it too! :D (Kind of)

Not much evidence of Comey, Brenner & Clapper getting thrown under the bus, but I don't fancy Rudy's chances going forward ...

Agreed. Quite pointless coming this late into the race and in the current Democratic party mentality of "rich white man bad"...

I guess he just wants to dump a boatload of cash in campaign expenses...

Harris has dropped out. Biden and Bernie are now polling far ahead off the pack, Warren having slipped back due to waffling on health care. Mayor Pete is still hanging in, and Bloomberg now appears on the polls with about 6%.

Corruption pays? I’m shocked!
We, the "normal" people, are all in for Trump. Best economy, best everything. Just waiting to see you guys screaming in the streets on November 4th, 2020.

Trump and the Republicans are cashing in on impeachment. Trump got $5,000,000 yesterday while the lefty loons were impeaching him. The RNC raked in $20,600,000 in the month of November.

https://nypost.com/2019/12/19/trump-campaign-raises-5-million-on-day-of-impeachment/

Money in politics corrupts.

edit:

I just noticed something today. When someone on the left for example says that republicans are looney they are out of touch and socialist elitists and very outraged. But calling leftists loony, demonrats, stupid etc. is very normal for rightists it seems. And leftist dont seem as outraged.

Something like half the country is for the impeachment and removal of Trump. His approval rating is around 45%, which also suggests around half the country doesn't approve of him. So saying "normal" people are all in on Trump is absurd.

And yes, Trump will probably win another term in office. It's unfortunate, but so many Americans are convinced a third party isn't a valid option and the Democrats have pretty much nobody that it's almost a given.

Sorry everybody, Ohio's senators aren't up in 2020 so I can't do my duty to remove Rob Portman.
