Interserie required closed wheel cars. It was designed for prototypes in general, but as the series started to falter, people just got reject F1 cars and bolted arches on. It did signal a slow death for a once great series, but I always thought they looked fantastic.
What was Interserie?

Could have won at Zaandvoort... but slid off so didn't. Introduced left-foot braking at an unheard of time but needed huge brakes to offset the lack of engine braking.

Whoa wait that thing raced in F1?! :eek: I thought that it was just a crazy experiment done at Indy! :odd: That's cool, must have been a handful at a circuit like Zaandvoort. :crazy:

Was it 5 MPG?

I suspect this was Robby Gordon's Hummer prototype before its time... The fuel economy is similar, if anything. On the plus side, given how the LM002 was built, it could withstand a sandstorm and keep on trucking regardless.
