Nice^. Really starting to look like we won't see a Livery Editor in GT6 though...unless no news is indeed good news :scared:

It wouldn't b bad to have livery at all. I'm sure I'd spend some time customizing a few cars not all of them. I can't say that I honestly want to splash decal on everything. There's absolutely nothing wrong with a clean custom paint job, fresh body work, and new wheels on a few.... :-)

I think we would have heard somthing about it by now, even if they just showed a glimpse of a few custom livery cars, but i havent seen anything of the sort.

They did say they have PC / ipad / android etc. apps that link up to GT6, so an external livery editor using say a pc using templates could be a future DLC.

The SLS AMG GT3 looks painfully bland and incomplete.

Logic says there would be a livery editor to add life to the racecar, but Kaz doesn't always understand logic haha!

Side note: During 2010, we didn't officially hear of the course creator until Gamescom 2010. So, is there still a chance? Sure. Considering Gamescom and the SLS AMG are both German-based, and considering that Kazunori kept the course creator feature (in 2010) hidden for so long, the livery editor feature could be receiving the same confidentiality. But don't get your hopes high.

I WANT A LIVERY EDITOR

[/thread]

Whilst carefully and subjectively considering the point you have made and making absolutely sure I am able to understand where exactly you are coming from by considering all sides of the argument.
I have decided that I tend to agree :D

Errm... GT5 already gave us more than that, in Race Mod cars with at least a preset livery which had all of one surface area we could paint. Merely giving us number stickers and license plates would be such a huge step back, I can't see anything but a huge riot coming of it. It's clear that not everyone wants a Livery Editor, but the poll indicates from the participants that a good margin at lest want one available. And when people begin to join those online GT6 clubs and leagues, and see what's going on not just in Forzaland but a whole slew of PC racer around with custom liveries, they're going to want what those other kids have.

Anyhow, life has been a sludgepit lately, so I need to get back to my decal making and car painting.

I mean for every single car on track, that's not a step back. That's how it is for track days in real life. This would be a step (although tiny) towards realism. I never said to remove what ever we had with preset liveries etc.

Yeah, but bland number plates and "license plates" just aren't enough. That wouldn't even identify a club. Clubs and leagues need a unique identifier, so some sort of Livery Maker is pretty much essential.

I was slightly baffled by Jordan not asking Kaz about the livery editor. It's not like asking about AI and sounds, where improvements are impossible to quantify until you actually play the game. A livery editor is a feature, where it's included or it isn't. I was hoping for a question like;

"Is there going to be a livery editor for all cars in the game?"

And then expand on that, rather than asking about "how will you decide on DLC?" in which there is obviously no way Kaz will answer that without giving a vague answer.

He asked about a livery editor/decals in a prior interview.

One month ago.

How could I forget the informative "it's technically possible" answer?

But yes, I was really hoping for a more direct answer if Kaz was pushed a bit by some more probing questions regarding a livery editor. Because let's be honest, "Both are technically possible, and we might be preparing it (laughs)." is a completely unsatisfactory answer.

Keep in mind that Jordan may have had a longer interview than that, but had to have some key items embargoed until GamesCom or some other time to okay it. Even our own Amar is being coy about some things, leading me to believe he might have some juicy info he just can't share. As CorvetteConquer says, a month or so... ;)

Oh, and in just over two weeks, we get the GT Academy demo to occupy us for a while.

I'm still working on my cars, and still frustrated with a few cars not coming out quite right, and a logo that gave me fits and I dropped. But I'm still painting...

Lets not forget that there is actually a full transcript that he says will be posted later, that question might be in that transcript.

What he said too. :P And I have to think that there are more "pleasant surprises" than those Jordan mentioned. There are definitely some substantial items yet to be revealed. As with GT5, while this is quite likely, we still don't know if there will be used cars.

How long until the next event in which GT6 can be showcased?

Gamescom in August is the best bet, with the last of the features and content most likely being revealed at TGS in September and maybe in the days and weeks running up to the release.

I will say, that PD seem to really have their act together on this release so far.

(Let's not jinx it though)

August? Wow, that's going to be a long wait.

I noticed the the GT web site is set to be down for maintenance on the 17th, maybe we will get something new from there when it comes back online?

Not likely. If they were ready to announce features they would most likely have done it at E3 where it would gain the most attention. Doing it on their site days after E3 doesn't make much sense. I could see some info coming out between now and Gamescom but most likely at Gamescom it's self.

If the full transcript of the round table interview contains more info then I don't expext anything after that until Gamescom.

Everything else except visual damage seems to be on the table for massive improvement, so I hope a livery editor makes it in.

Has there been a precedent for this, either within the games industry or specifically involving interviews with Kaz?

It just seems strange to leave out potentially the juiciest detail of the interview, especially when it would undoubtedly bring more internet traffic and hence ad revenue to GTPlanet.

While I do agree with your point, there could also be the potential that the same detail may be under wraps or as Tenacious D said, Embargoed until Gamescom.
