Indeed TD. PDI has yet to reveal anything past the "core" experience of GT6. I encourage all to look at the positive changes that Gran Turismo 6 has received over GT5.

New Game Engine
New Physics Engine
New suspension and kinematics model
New tire model
New aerodynamics model
New Course Maker
New User Interface

These seven things listed above have been discussed to death and there is still over 150 days +/- to go before launch!

Although all those things are positive they all have one thing in common. They have nothing to do with how the game is played, the mechanics or nuts and bolts of gameplay if you will. I am excited for GT6 don't get me wrong, but the things I thought were most lacking in GT5 had nothing to do with the above and everything to do with A-Spec, B-Spec, and online racing. My list would be topped with a proper racing setup for online racing and everything that goes along with it. Proper AI and many more setup options for A-Spec would be next on the list, not for me, but for the millions that play it and love it.

Making a pretty game only takes you so far. If dramatic improvements aren't made to the online and offline racing experience, GT6 will have a much shorter life for me than GT5.

OMG, I think I know what I want to do with a livery editor, make this:

I understand and respect that but I want to remind you of how GREAT of a start GT6 is off to. Those seven items show us all how serious PDI is about being an amazing console based simulator.

Kaz himself has said that GT5 did not give the players enough races to do with their car, so I tend to believe that GT6 will address this in some form or fashion. I personally can't wait to see what the event creator is all about for it could be a revolutionary feature.

Like you, the amount of A-Spec races in GT5 were lacking quantity standpoint so it is the ONLY concern of mine. Either way we'll know eventually!

It's very frustrating to hear Kaz just answer this serious question we asked in such an unsure way, he's like "A livery editor? PFFTT HAHA Maybe.." Poly-phoney Digital right there for you.

Have you heard the term "showing your cards?"

Kazunori wants to leave us wondering, and build hype about the game.. If he releases everything too soon, he clearly won't have anything left... You know, to announce, when the next announcements need to be made...?

I love how people throw insults at PD, as if its going to make them work harder. If only they realize how much that never works.

In fairness, it's just their frustration. But, taking your frustration out on your keyboard... Well, no one cares, really, whether you can misspell "polyphony" to sound worse.

But, at the risk of being slightly off-topic, I can't think of a more incorrect and... wrong... name for PD. Polyphony is a musical term for "many sounds." Yeah. :ouch:

Not really. If he announced that they had a livery editor and that we'd like it, we'd all spend the next four months excitedly discussing how it would work and what we would use it for. People would hype themselves. And then as release came and they told more about how it would work, people could get really excited.

As it is he's got half the people crossing their fingers that he has more to say and half the people sure he's done and disappointed already. Not exactly a superior situation.

In fact, it's largely similar to how GT5 was treated when they didn't want to give too much information away early about some of the features because it would give people too much time to generate bad press. At the risk of being a negative nancy, it feels awfully familiar...

Yeah? The game had better deliver considering all of this hype - If it turns out to be a bag of garbage (which it most likely wont) we will have gotten excited over nothing!

Anyway back on topic, I want a livery editor so I can have a racing group with some friends, and we can put our own designs on our own racing cars. How appealing does that sound, man..

Meanwhile on my rFactor installation..
Ferrari458act.jpg

The cool thing is I can paint everything: tyres, wheels, windshield, wings, roll bar, front lights, rear lights.. endless possibilities. So even with a simple livery like this I can do exactly what I want on small details. 3dsimed + photoshop = WIN.

Thats awesome man! :embarrassed:
Need that :D
btw is that rFactor 1 or rfactor 2?

I miss being able to put different rims on every car, including race cars like in GT3. Just little things like that would be amazing. I'd be happy with just being able to put decals and such on cars and no big editor like forza. But like what was recently said, we have a good 6 months until launch, a lot can/will be revealed in that time.

Yeah, hoping it comes out good.

They just need to get rid of the paint chip system.

Just use a damn color wheel or sliders and let us pick an color under the sun and different types of coats (flat, metallic, 2 tone, ect)

Any solution that doesn't give the players (us, you and me) full control over the color of our cars is outdated and archaic.

This really shouldn't be asking for all that much. It's really starting to blow my mind.

edit:
I also feel that the return of pain chips kills any chance for a livery editor. smh..

maybe we'll get one in GT13 at the rate the game is progressing. :/

Thanks for the interest. The car come from BES 2012 mod I modified material names with 3dsimed so now I can paint stuff like rollcage, added more tyres etc. The car is still WIP, it's born as a private project but let's see if I manage to get permission of original authors.

Meanwhile some S7R love.

It's a good idea because it gives the impression of having a lot more cars than there actually are.
This feature with one car (let's say a Fia GT Ferrari Italia) is sufficient as a new race series.

Some complex liveries are time consuming in themselves. Collecting the colours to achieve that just adds to the frustration. Completely daft IMHO.

Edit to add.

The Paint chip announcement seals the deal for me. No livery editor IMHO.

People holding out for one remind me of the delusions surrounding the "Won't support multiple interior views " comment thrown out by PD.

Hope I'm wrong but common sense prevailed then and I expect it to do so again.

That was my exact thought on reading that in the latest interview

What if they sold a seperate game just for livery editing. A seperate game that you could send your cars to edit the body, paint and livery, then send them back to gt6. DLC mini game maybe?

Lets say 19.99 usd? Would you buy it?

Not a chance.

Pay extra for a feature that is included in most modern games? Please.

If they told you that GT6 would cost $80 instead of $60, because it had a livery editor, would you be impressed?

Some time ago, I thought a livery editor was not a priority in GT, after looking some masterpieces in Forza 4, I gave it a try and I was hooked to that livery editor for some time, it really adds another dimension to the game, just like GT Photo Mode.

It's really amazing what some people can do when they deform some 2D shapes via joystick and join them a la Tangram.

Forza 4 livery editor alone, it worths the whole price of the game, in fact, some people just buy the game for the livery editor and they don't race at all.

So, in my opinion GT6 must have a livery editor, if that's like in FM4.

Paint Chips...

You know, the presence of paint chips may not just mean paint...it could be a whole livery too, the "customised paint chips" could be a set of liveries, that could be applied to any car...

A "chip" could also be a slot used to save a livery for a said car/cars.

20 dollars for a livery editor, are you mad?

Could be.

The main problem is that we're all sort of hoping that they're anything but exactly what they were in GT5. If they were going to radically change the concept of a paint chip, you'd think they'd change the name too.

Again, maybe not.

But I think a lot of the optimism is based on paint chips not being exactly what you would first assume. And frankly, usually a bacon lettuce and tomato sandwich is just green, red and pig in between two slices of bread.

Again, check sig.

Some people will buy anything. Doesn't make it a good idea.
