I do not try to "move goalposts", I am just playing Devils Advocate for the sake of objectivity and accuracy :D
AKA you are trying to fool people like best Advocates do for the sake of fooling people with words and getting payed for that. ;)

What happens when the glass become 100% full again and a 2nd bottle become empty once again. I tell what happen. "GT has a better livery editor than Forza". Party Hard. :)

PS, no offense intended.

My point is strictly semantical.

We don't know what PD considers as "coloring/livery editor".

We love to imply subjectively, based on our personal and subjective expectations that has nothing to do with actual outcome of development process or internal planning by PD (or any other developer in similar circumstances).

Ah, okay. Thanks for explaining.

I'm not entirely sure what this means.

I trust in PD. Always have and always will. They never lacked imagination and ideas. One day, all those beautiful concepts will become a part of some great GT game. And one day, maybe time comes for "livery editor" as many subjectively dream about. But before that, there is soooo many bullets on lists that are older then some GTP members :)

I have never seen that picture, thanks for sharing.

Like you, I trust in what PDI brings to me in each Gran Turismo. Sure, it may not be perfect and do everything right, but the game brings me enjoyment every time I have played a Gran Turismo game over the past 15 years.

Thanks for a laugh with the bullet point comment too.

The rim selection in gt5 was horrible. Gt2 had a better selection of rims. Gt5 was a okay game but felt incomplete. All the standard cars looked like gt3. The paint chips were okau but the problem was i couldn't see what it looked like on the car before i paid for it i had to look at it on a wack looking hotwheel car. Graphics would be a good thing to do. But they need to add more aero kits and rims for sure.

Semantics or not Amar, i started the thread with the belief that a livery editor is a must, and after much reading of peoples thoughts i still believe its a no brainer for PD to add one. We know its possible, many games have the function, but as you say, if it gets down to interpretation of what PD thinks a livery editor is then god only knows if we get any change to what GT5 had to offer !! Bring on the next snippet of news that they release !

You can go even further in the past, back to 2004 and GT4 pre-reveal time.

This is a slide of GT4 presentation on E3 2004, just few months prior to GT4 November 2004 release.

Well that's a new one, for me at least :P Thanks 👍

I don't see how chips automatically mean no livery editor to some people. Why can't the chips act as your base color and then you open your car with the livery editor and make a custom livery over the paint from the paint chip. Seems pretty simple to me.

One thing that i do see as interesting, is the nissan in the following clip taken from the A.I. thread.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=Qgsdb5wYMw8

The nismo sticker looks like its been thrown from 10 paces and sticks out like great big dogs testicals !

Surely if you are going to have a nismo sponsored car, like the GT academy one, you can do a better job than they did here?

It just seems so random !!!

The more i think about it, it would be good if they implemented a system like grid, with pre determined designs, and the freedom to add a heap of stickers / sponsors where we want to put them, in the color we want. It negates the "nanny brigade" who are worried about what designs might pop up, and keeps it simple for those of us who would like to make visual changes.

Anyway, i suppose all we can do is continue to speculate and in most cases wish for what we want !

It's not so much that the inclusion of paint chips precludes a livery editor, it's more the fact their presence (after being almost universally panned) in GT6 makes me question if I'd even want a livery editor if it involved a similar "paint chip system" to GT5.

What's wrong with scrolling through a full list of colors, finding one you like, previewing it on your car, then spraying it? Seems almost too simple.

I say it should be in the game because the case being made was someone would willingly pay up to $20 if not more for a feature that has absolutely no reason to not be included, for a game of GT's stature no less.

Strictly speaking, I wouldn't say it's mandatory but at the same time there's absolutely no reason for it not to be included.

Interesting that you say that you've seen cases, in which people have been willing to pay $20+ for a livery editor without quoting it, nor posting proof.

Regardless, if that's true, I see a massive problem with PD's apparent logic of "we [the gamers] don't care about livery editors." Obviously, we do care. A lot.

As long as they give us *something,* to control the morons who will, inevitably, create pornographical photos, or similar references, I also see no problem with it.

Call of Duty's "Playercards" are full of similar photos and references. They give us the button to "Report Player.." It's something I've tried to do, many times, against one specific player whose playercard I found extremely offensive. The player has still not been reprimanded, several months later.

If GT6 had a similar problem, I'd be extremely angry. But, if GT6 can ensure that players can't get away with such stuff, I'll be happy.

I saw a dolphin with a huge penis...I lol'd.

But on a serious nature, I saw a Nazi themed emblem, I reported it, because that's not on...

Read earlier in the thread.

What if they sold a seperate game just for livery editing. A seperate game that you could send your cars to edit the body, paint and livery, then send them back to gt6. DLC mini game maybe?

Lets say 19.99 usd? Would you buy it?

Followed quickly by the guy who bought ten paint packs in GT5.

Such people do exist.

Most folks here feels that they deserve a livery editor, like it's their right to have one. And if PD did not include it, GT6 is a failure. Now that's funny :D.

I want a livery editor too and would be willing to pay extra for it, does that make me a s%cker?

If PD did came out with a paid add-on for a livery editor, I'm sure most would eat their words and get it.

You may get to pay that tax someday in the form of a DLC.

Paint chips are idiotic..............................they should be removed. When we get a car we should be able to paint it what ever colour we ant. Since when is unlocking paint chips a good gameplay machanism?

I think it would be cool to have a livery editor! Even if it did not make it in the game they could release it as DLC calling it the livery pack i guess?

There almost certainly won't be a livery editor (in the way FM does it). There's just not enough graphics memory to load and apply bespoke textures, nor can the RSX handle the additional polys that may comprise any kind of decal.

You may be able to change license plate numbers, car numbers, that kind of thing though.

Maybe if GT6 runs at 30fps instead of 60fps there could be a livery editor, but don't hold your breath.

Not one thing you said is remotely correct.

Liveries are just textures, which are 2D, therefore, no "polys." The model of the car wouldn't change.

And again, they are just textures, which would simply replace the existing texture of the car. So, any difference in graphics memory would be minimal.

As for creating the liveries; You wouldn't be loading nearly as much data in to RAM while running the livery editor that you would be when racing/driving the car. Plus, the textures would stream from your HDD to your RAM upon loading a "race," dynamically.

Frame rate has nothing to do with anything. Unless the liveries suddenly got a huge bump in resolution compared to default textures; which probably wouldn't happen.

Everything I've said is correct. There is simply no memory to store livery textures and the PS3's RSX struggles enough with fill rate to be able to apply them. To say someone's bespoke texture would replace the texture of a car is simply laughable. 👎 As for "no poly's", clearly you haven't seen nor played any Forza game to understand how decals are created / how they scale to any size. 👎

I don't understand why Forza has no trouble with a livery editor but for whatever reason GT would?
