Being hours to create a simple text effects seems absurd and a waste of time when there are solutions much more powerful, quicker and easier to use.
This is true, and I can't fathom why Turn 10 doesn't feel like giving us more than five or six text fonts to use in their game. Maybe Forza 5 will be different, but right now, I'm not interested in it or XBOne.

As for importing graphics from a PC art program, I'm afraid that no console yet has allowed this because of the potential for abuse, but we'll see what the developers give us in the coming years.

If they won't give us a full livery editor as Forza... I hope just a few shapes and text to add wherever we want to.. dont you?

I say this because actually I don't think PD will make what we are waiting for..

Still wondering why no other console sim has done this, it clearly can be done and in PD's case since they are only operating on one console (unlike EA did with this game), it can't be that difficult.

Been playing TDU2 the last few days and having tons of fun painting cars with it's livery editor (which isn't even that good)

I really hope PD gets with the times and includes one. Seriously, it's starting to get embarrassing.

I know I've said this quite a few times, but doesn't it bother you that PD put unique livery designs on the racemods...and yet, 15 years since its inception, in 2013, the players still cannot put a damn stripe on their cars?

It's mind boggling, especially considering how much time KY spends at these auto shows, where individuality is praised and rewarded (so far as having your own car recreated in Gran Turismo). It's one of those features that makes me bitter and one of the reasons I've begun to dislike the series.

If it's "technically possibly", Kazunori, then why not technically achieve it?

Same here, even with that technically possible line,PD always try to hype their games as much as they can .

I remember that GT5 E3 trailer that kind of hinted we would get decent sound,a decent damage model, even the Top Gear camera angles made in the trailer but not in the game.

In other words only believe it when you see it.

Cause man, that aint the dream he has for GT, let him have his dream:crazy:

LFS did this too. PC game, but still.

A few shapes and aftermarket logos and stuff would be enough, but a full-blown livery editor would be great. Somewhat better than Forzas as well ;)

Can't remember if I posted here or not, but here are my thoughts on it. If you can get other peoples publicly posted liveries, then yes I want one. If not, then I don't see many people using it so why waste the time developing it.

Not sure if you seen all the racing series made, but even simple decals like manufacture symbols of cars, tires, fuel, tuning parts, and so on as well as specialized numbers and perhaps a way to make a team logo thus running several cars under one camp that share setups and data. Something simple, nothing that has to be super massive like other games.

I made a lot of liveries in Forza back when there wasn't a storefront. I was awful at it but I still loved it.

It's a slippery slope when you assume your own preferences are shared by "most people".

I made several in Forza 2 and was a bit bummed that they could not be imported into Forza 3. Didn't do many in Forza 3 but still did a few and a few in Forza 4.

It is nice to be able to customize the look of the car but I really do not think it needs to be to the scale of what Forza has done. Given that type of tool there will be people creating porn and other images that may be offensive to some and/or inappropriate for children designs on cars just like they have in Forza

Legally, neither PD nor Sony can be held responsible for inappropriate user content and parents should understand that. If they aren't ready to accept the possibility of their kid being exposed to that stuff, then they shouldn't let their kid play online.

And it wouldn't be too difficult to add in an in-game report feature and create a moderating team. Also, PD could allow users to block schemes of other users from showing up on their screen. (Say someone makes a scheme of naughty stuff and I see it online, I could block that scheme and whenever I see that user's car, I just see a base color.)

Strange. I've never seen that. Ever. I guess it's too much to ask for you not to take a stab at Forza in every single one of your posts.

I guess if GT had a tool like this, it would be nothing but porn.

Absolutely. It was one of my favourite aspects of GT1 and GT2. Was so very disappointed when it didn't return for GT3. It is annoying when people here claim that visually modifying your own car is not what Gran Turismo is about.

Actually, it has happened:
Well... that's fascinating. I guess since you have to hand it off to EA first, that would solve a lot of issues.

I spent almost a dozen hours yesterday getting all inspired by this thread, and decided to hook the 360 Leet back up and try my hand at making a new race car livery. I was kind of tired and yucky, so my imagination wasn't all that fertile, and it was harder to jump back into the Livery Editor than I thought it would be - had to sort through a couple hundred decals and other junk in my "layers" file too, and that took two freaking hours. But having a soft spot for the Ferrari 355 Challenge, I decided to soldier on and make a fantasy GT2 ALMS racer out of one.

Aaaand... I can't share it. :P

I can't hook the 360 up to the net, and my digital camera uses a stupid micro-USB connector. But I'll run out and nab a 30' network cable and see if I can get something uploaded to my account. Which I can't get into, because Microsoft is the stupidest company outside of the third world, I swear...

Anyhow, if I get anything accomplished, I'll give a heads up.

I think PD is always going to keep us at arms distant, my bet if there ever is a livery editor it will never be able to replicate real world liveries, maybe pasting manufacture logos, changing colors, maybe generic strips, but not be able to create unique shapes, same as course creator, be able to create courses randomly, but unable to massage them close enough to replicate real world courses. Paint chips instead of color wheel, always at arms distant. Not sure if there worried about legal issue or the extra creative efforts. I can see some issues that PD might not want to be tied down with, such as some of the problems Forza had with porn livery's. who knows where this is going to lead.

And the images from Forza 4 are delectable.

And to these I respond with these livery transfers in Photoshop. As far as these go, decal packs and Liveryless cars (SLS GT3 and Dodge Charger Sprint Cup car) are the way to go. That way, we keep Stealths, Chromelines, and those with special liveries

This thread is angering me because I can envision us not being able to do any of this in a Gran Turismo game. Well, at least not to this degree.

You and me both, It really is frustrating to say the least wish PD had a hit of reality and stopped living in the past.

As an example, this is a mod called T5 series (DTM) for rFactor 2 which since it has no licence for the cars they can´t use the actual liveries and brands.
A guy made the 2012 and 2013 liveries and this is the result:

I mean these are basically 3 cars but with different liveries you can have the full grid of the DTM series. 3 cars "can be converted" into 20 cars just because of having the liveries.

How PD never got this is beyond me.

Hope we get a livery editor and some base cars (no liveries) as the Mercedes Benz SLS AMG GT3 so we can make our own liveries for it to make some of the cars from the 24hr Nürburgring race (and the winner of this year).

PD "wastes" a lot of money licencing cars while they can make better things with it.

Of course, I know it is not the same to have one basic car with just liveries than the "real deal"...but, Do we really care after all? One car instead of "20 more" so we can make realistic competition like in actual PC simulators...

I sign for this of course. We need it.

And here, you were the one who was making the case for the Livery Editor a few days ago. You're getting to be even more bipolar than me. ;)

You guys have some great liveries. I whipped up a quick ALMS number plate, because the one I first saw on a Ferrari was just a plain round cornered square, but now I don't like it. I'll play around with it a bit more, maybe blend in something of iRacing's plaques and a few others. Still have to get that network cable, but maybe I can get going with that after work.

WOW!! Lots of juicy images...

To your point, PD gig get it, as with the NASCAR cars, there are three basic cars with a variety of liveries. But they had to get permission from the teams to use them. Maybe time was a factor too, and maybe we'll see the full plate in GT6. I've been harping on this all along myself, that PD need to flesh out a full racing field of cars by giving us a number of teams and their liveries, even if they need to whip up fantasy cars. Hopefully, SONY can fund all the licenses they need, because then all it requires is a day or so from an artist to add them.
