Sorry, I won't be able to open a room for a little while, I'm holding Cappuccino practice for a couple hours. I'll try to get a room open by 7pm EDT, will post the details in here when I do.

I'm out I can't race anymore my save file just got completely deleted.

I can send you a level 24 ticket which can give you either an FGT or Ferrari F1 car.
If you exploit it properly, you'll get an FGT easily.
What's your PSN?
I'll send it tonight.

You don't need a thumbdrive if you don't have one.
You can copy the save game to another profile and then copy it back.
Takes longer, but will save you a trip to the store.
FR gogatrs and I'll send next time I'm on.

Was wondering how the practice races are working out. Any "rules of the road" getting worked out for safe overtaking? Some kind of drivers meeting before the start of the race might be a good idea, especially for those of us who aren't able to make the practice races.

I just had an idea, to get used to racing with eachother, what we could do is host a qualifying race.
Our qualifying times determine where we start in this 20 or so lap race.
Where we finish in this race determine our starting position for the final race!

Good way to get used to racing with each other. Right?

Brandon

You have to open it so Owens can do the Super GT race.....:sly:

If there's going to be a true 500 mile race, we need to be able to set the starting grid manually, as there is no option for more than 200 laps.

We could arrange a 1 lap race to run first (Think of it as driver introductions), with the finishing order being the reverse of the proper qualifying order.

Set the 200 lap race to run with an inverted order based on previous race finish, set a 2x2 rolling start, and you have a proper rolling start in our qualified order. All we have to do is manipulate the finishing order of the first race properly.

Can you do rolling starts as an option?

Room is up!

As for starting order. Race will be started from a stop. At the start we ask all racers to stay on the brakes. At this time pause and wait for Either Brandon or I. We will type the grid. So pole be typed. He unpauses and pulls out and drives to exit turn 2 just on the back stretch. Then next guy will line up outside pole then third racer called will line up outside Once those three a sent. We will say second row and type the names again inside to out. and so on till all racers are in their order.

At which point when we have all cars lined up stopped we will have the front row pace out too 125mph the pole sitter can go anytime past put wall and before yard of bricks. Aka start finish line. Race is on and we do 199 vs 200.

This way we get a three wide pace lap and have a rolling start with correct order. ;)

I may have to withdraw... the internet in my hotel room is not working with my PS3 all of the sudden.

DRIVERS MEETING

Just to clarify, technically we will only be "racing" for 497.5 miles since we will be lining up manually. We want to do a 3-wide start, like real life, so we can be as close to the real race as possible and get some "authentic" photos.

The starting procedure will be:
We will do a standing "Start" but everyone will stay on the brakes. We will release the drivers by typing their names in their starting order. The pole sitter will drive to the end of the first short chute/entrance to turn 2 and park towards the inside of the track, the rest of the drivers will be released and line up beside/behind the pole sitter.

Once everybody is in position we will type "begin pace lap" and everyone will pull away slowly, staying 3 wide down the back stretch and through turns 3 and 4. Try to stay around 120-125mph (it sounds fast but it isn't in these cars), we will Go Green when the front row crosses the Start/Finish line. Drivers in the back rows should watch their map to see when the front row crosses the Start line. We will do a "dry run" before we start the race to make sure everyone knows what to do.

We are opening the room at 12:00pm (Noon) EDT (GMT-4) and it will be open for practice for an hour before the race. We can do a couple 10 lap practice races during that time where we can practice the line-up and get used to driving with the draft and with each other.

DRIVERS NOTES:

-When exiting the pits, do not re-enter the track between turns 1 and 2, instead stay on the access road inside turn 2 and re-enter the track on the back stretch. Be courteous of faster traffic as you re-enter, and remember your tires will be cold.

-When entering the pits, after exiting turn 4 move to the left so traffic can get by you but maintin speed until you get to the pit lane turn off. Slow down to a reasonable speed before hitting the pit lane entrance line. Do not enter the pits using the access road between turns 3 and 4.

-If a driver gets a good draft and attempts the pass, do not use aggressive blocking. The draft is extreme enough that you will probably pass him back on the next stretch. More than 1-2 moves left-to-right would be considered "aggressive blocking". There will be many position changes during the race.

-Damage is set on Heavy/Full so if you sustain damage it won't be fixed until you pit. You can get minor damage on your car from a gentle tap of the wall or a small bump with another driver, but you can usually still get by ok as long as you don't have more than 2 red corners on your damage indicator. More than that, or any engine damage, and you will have to pit to repair it.

Remember, 3 things:
-The race can't be won in the first turn, but it can be lost.
-To finish first, you must first finish.
-Have fun!

Brandon

Three wide is just begging for a pileup in turn 1.

Agreed. How about we first do a 1 lap race, we do the manual line up that way and go 3 wide across the finish line at pace lap speed. Then we can save the replay and get 3 wide photos from that.

After that everyone will return to the pits (and stay OFF the track) and we will start the race. If nobody goes back on track it will start us "fastest first" from the parade lap/race but it will be a rolling start/2-wide and hopefully that will help prevent a pile up in turn 1. Also makes it officially 500 miles. 👍

Brandon

or all the cars could go round the track clockwise when you call out the grid and line up on the back straight...start as above = 500 miles and 3 abreast start 👍

Tomorrow I won't be home till 12:30pm, so I will come in asap.

Room still open. I am in the drivers seat hoping to get some racers in for a 50 lap or 100 lap race.

Guys for pit exit, are we gonna use the full pit lane and exit after turn 2 or are we exiting after turn 1?

I say full exit preferred. Especially with traffic.
