First thought:

So is this what it will look like when it blows........ up ? :scared:

It is much better looking then the Delta but they are not my cup of tea.

I have Baekdal's mini site up for Le Mans, and this was tweeted, can someone interpret this graph?

If you zoom in, there's some tiny writing above the R15's graph, with what looks like a key to what the numerical values represent.. But I can't tell what it says.

I was shocked to hear about his death, RIP. I thought he was OK after that and that he was talking to the marshals, unfortunately that's not the case. :(

Just seeing the accident I could tell something wasn't right. :nervous:

I find that. McNish and Davidson's accidents didn't faze me, as I could tell that, however serious they looked, they were both unlikely to result in serious damage to the driver (although Davidson did break two vertebrae); however Rocky's and now Simonsen's both did. Fortunately Rocky wasn't badly injured after his big wreck in the R18, but sadly the same cannot be said for Simonsen.

RIP Allan

To those watching on SPEED, did they announce it on TV? I fell asleep for about 2 hours and I don't know what they said, if anything.

RIP Allan.

RIP Allan.

They had a small tribute about 25 minutes after it was announced he died, and they talked a bit about it before they cut to NASCAR qualifying.

Someone tell me what happened I was at work

Back to when?

The start of the race was sadly marred by a fatal accident at the exit of Terte Rouge for Allan Simonsen's GTE-Am favourite Aston Martin Vantage, which triggered a lengthy safety car period, after which the #1 Audi pulled out an extensive lead.

However, as night fell the #1 Audi came into the pits with problems, and dropped down to 23rd, and has since been working its way up through the LMP2 field. The #3 Audi also suffered a puncture at the Dunlop Chicane, dropping it back behind the two Toyotas, one of which had earlier lost time to a mysterious electrical issue which caused it to briefly stop coming out of the first chicane.

Just recently the HMV Status Lola suffered a heavy accident, but fortunately the driver walked away.

Audi #2 currently leads from the #8 and #7 Toyota's, ahead of the #3 Audi and the #13 Rebellion.

Oak Racing lead 1-2 in LMP2 ahead of the #38 Jota Sport Zytek, with the GT Academy #42 Greaves Motorsport car in 4th.

The #91 and #92 GTE-Pro factory Porsches are in a close battle with the #97 and #99 Aston Martins, whom many now want to win in the late Simonsen's memory, while GTE-Am is led by the IMSA Performance Porsche 997 GT3, ahead of two AF Corse Ferrari 458s and the Dempsey Del-Piero Porsche.

Thanks for the heads up Roger. Man this year race is very intense. I hope that the Astons win their class in memory of Allan. It's a shame he died today. RIP :(.

Wow what a race... words cant describe.
Any news on the issues with the #74?

Edit: Kristiensen dedicating the win partially to Simonsen. What a top bloke. :)

Edit 2: The #74 was apparently hit by a prototype car which damaged the exhaust to the point where it was burning Gavin and making the cockpit really hot.

Yeah that's cool and with that, there will be a swiss driver in each big LMP1 team. Quite the acomplishement for a small country like ours ^^

That's if Buemi stays at Toyota and Fässler at Audi. But I dont see why they would not keep them, unless Buemi find a wheel in F1.

Indeed. I just hope they take Pat Long in too, his stints in the Dempsey car were nothing short of epic.

I'm not sure if they will... How much single seater and Prototype experience does he have, in comparison to Neel Jani?

I half expect Lucas Luhr to get a ride, especially if Muscle Milk goes away.

It may be tight for Patrick Long to get a ride if they go with just two cars. I think they'll add Webber, Luhr, and Nick Heidfeld in addition to the three they have now. If they go with 3 cars, I definitely see Long getting in

I can't seem Buemi going back to F1, he's actually got something solid and guaranteed in place.

About 2 seasons worth because of the Penske LMP2 program.

It was surprising to see Jani get confirmed before Heidfeld, considering Nick has already proven to be quicker and is also incredibly consistent. I'm also surprised that Toyota didn't make a play for him this offseason, though I understand they were happy with their lineup (but I would replace Lapierre with Nick in a heartbeat if I was running things there). Just like in his F1 career, Nick has been getting overlooked. :(

But I do think he will eventually get a Porsche seat and become their Lotterer.

Jani as more Endurance experience than Heidfeld or at least I think he has (didnt follow Heidfeld much since he left f1 to be honest).

Also Jani will finish the season with the team he's engaged with even if his contract with Porsche will start in august.
