The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

What is the point of the DTM V8 in P1 of all places @ Furi, what does it offer that is so great for it to be branched out into other branches? Thanks whenever you can inform me 👍.

Does this indicate Audi wanting to court some customers in P1?

Must be, clever in my opinion. If I were planning on running a private lmp1 team I'd love to have Audi on board and I'm sure others would too!

OK, I've added a couple of COTA ALMS/WEC galleries. Still more to come from Saturday!

Is it? And you never got back to me on why Audi would use a DTM engine in a privateer lmp1 program when they have there LMP engines still. I'm confused sir!

*what is it.

And sir, not much of a clue. DTM V8 is an interesting choice. Reminds me of Toyota powerplants in the Rebellion cars this year.

Aren't the only LMP engines they have Diesel though?

Perhaps they don't want to share their diesel technology. That's what i think anyway

Could you blame them for all they actually put into it? Why not use an engine that has less secrets on it.

Anyway, headed to VIR tomorrow bright and early!

Yeah but I'm sure they could make the R8 engine from 10 years ago up to standard, I mean hell other groups have used engines from decades ago today. And why not allow those teams a chance at the powerful Diesel? Are they going somewhere next year?

This sounds more like it, but I feel they could charge more money (with in reason) while helping even further development of the engines and thus give them older tech while they run new tech.

Well Toyota supplied engines to Rebellion and from what I read, its not the same NA V8 they have in the TS030. Just some comparable facts there.

Full course yellow...because the race track's on fire.

EDIT:  1813ish. I know I shouldn't be laughing, but really?

Anyone see that crash? Crazy how that GTC car just bounced along the tire wall and didn't hit the Camera guy. And Man, Richie White: Never scared

I think the pavilion that the marshals where under lost it's front railing from the tire barrier bouncing off it.

The #31 NGT Porsche collided with the Paul Miller Porsche and as a result, the #31 hit the tire barrier at about 100mph and flipped end over end (Or maybe side onto side) along the tire barrier. It then came to rest on the tire barrier itself right in front of the camera man (Literally just about 10 feet in front of the cameraman).
