The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

So I'm trying to watch the race from the site (like I have before) and guess what? I apparently have to sign up just to do so. Anywhere I can watch this without needing to signup? I know there's the youtube channel, but I'm unsure if its region locked.

No American TV coverage?

Nope, there isn't.

Nope, there isn't.

That is no longer possible. You would have to pay (not much)...

For 🤬 sake. I may as well not watch anymore if I'm reduced to paying for it.

Looks like I'm just going to have to what to it goes on youtube to see it instead of watching it live like I used to be able to.

Meanwhile, I was told of a contest where supposedly fans at Fuji can try and beat Kaz Nakajima's time and win a 1:18 scale Toyota TS030. Obviously I'm not there but seeing as this was something on GT6, I attempted to beat it.

Here's the original:

And here's an edited version that's purposely over-the-top abit:

Thank you so much 👍

I didn't want to pay either but it's 15 Euros for the whole season (Le Mans excluded). I'm now watching on my mobile @ work. I can view the general live stream with Radio Le Mans comment or one of the cockpit streams (Audi, Toyota & Porsche). It's not something to cheer about but I think it is worth it if you want to have easy access to the race.

On my way home from the circuit now. That's the 5th time I've been to Fuji speedway, but this was the first international event I've attended there.

Umm... Don't you enjoy watching it? You can't have everything for free, and they're hardly asking for an obscene amount of money.

No it does not. Two years ago they ran Silverstone 6 hours in July with no problem at all for the teams. If they needed more than a month they'd be a bunch of amateurs.
Every non factory team there is funded by an amateur :sly:

Audi rebuilt an entire car in 12 hours......
Yea with blank checks and a platoon of engineers and crew members. Most teams can't do that and get the car back to 100%

Audi are the very best in the business at car repairs and servicing.
Which isn't the point.....contrary to popular belief, the majority of race teams do not have an endless armada of resources like Audi. That's why it takes time after endurance races between rounds to rebuild cars

@Swagger897 nothing wrong at all with any of that. Only it's the exception not the rule

I'm not asking for everything to be free, I was simply upset at how it went from me simply going to site and watching it to suddenly being Pay-to-watch. It even has the same button I clicked on before that just lead to live stream.

You miss the point. I'm talking about in races only.

Anyway, Lotus having a real weird mystery, which I might have solved.

Last year Kodewa ran under the Lotus name the T128 LMP2 car or at least until Le Mans when both cars had parts seized and impounded by french courts, following a reported lawsuit by co-builders ADESS. They did run last minute after a settlement but it wouldn't have helped. They stated ambitions to run an LMP1-L this year, which they indeed have debuted at Texas. Now hang with he from here.

The car debuted under the Lotus T129 banner, a direct reference obviously to T128, at COTA. But after COTA had a total name change, now being called the CLM P1/01. The CLM appeared on the car when it hit the track, with Lotus banners disappearing. Now I normally do not trust motorsport.com as a source, but having checked up a few facts here in this article, I give this. http://www.motorsport.com/wec/news/colin-kolles-saga-the-mysterious-lmp1-car/

Colin Kolles also over summer came into possession of the Caterham F1 team following Tony Fernandes giving in and selling the team over summer. Now some french media reportedly believe that the CLM stands for Caterham Le Mans, which whilst hopeful is an interesting spin. Inbetween the LMP1 cars debut and name change from the T129 to the CLM P1/01 (the gap between COTA and Fuji WEC events), Colin Kolles Caterham F1 HQ were raided by Bailiffs. This comes after as this article states http://www.racecar-engineering.com/news/future-of-caterham-f1-in-doubt-after-bailiffs-move-in/ that Colin Kolles supposedly set up a "Caterham CF1 Grand Prix Limited" in the weeks upcoming. Also Kolles was not originally involved in the T128 back in 2013, but he came on with the ADESS / Kodewa project after learning of it, whilst they were not really Lotus, they had just a lease to use the naming rights! http://www.racecar-engineering.com/cars/lotus-t128/

So is the name change perhaps Kolles trying to move away from ADESS / Kodewa (who let us not forget made legal challenges at LM 2013 against him)? Perhaps so, as the Lotus CLM now has absolutely no Lotus branding on the car itself now as I can see. Considering that ADESS / Kodewa had 2 year deal for 2013/14 with the Lotus name, and the T128 is technically there design, then Kolles has had to rebrand the car?

And to add a final layer of mystery: Racecar Engineering found at Fuji that despite denials from inside the Lotus LMP1 team... the car is indeed a modified LMP2 T128 (http://www.racecar-engineering.com/blogs/gravel-trap-post-race-tech-fuji-wec/). Why would you cover that up? Perhaps you don't want people to find out what you have been using on track....

Which are in Stanfield. Now where's my prize? :D

Anyhow with all the secrecy, doesn't that mean you won't be allowed to spill the beans?
Eh, to be honest the track is closer to Maricopa but it doesn't matter.

I will be coming back from a work trip the day before so I will be there. Already got permission to come in and hang around. But yeah, I can't say much but if an article pops up online with specifics I might be able to confirm or deny. ;)
