damned Ferrari crashing another car...

Sounds like Webber dropped it all on his own and collected the Ferrari:

Maybe a mechanical. A rear suspension failure would explain why the car was already backwards when it entered the frame at the same kind of time as the slower Ferrari.
It was a tad bit sarcasm, but I have a preference to hate on the 458 whenever an LMP1 and them are involved. It's as if every accident that puts a car out of the race, they are always in the picture, even if they didn't cause it.

When it is generally the most popular car nowadays for the GTE category worldwide, then the likelihood is increased...

EDIT: Figured it out. Video of the crash :)

EDIT: This posted by @Grayfox so I pinched it to put here :)

@Michelin, great pictures but pleeease post them with the thumbnail option? They're huge! :D

EDIT: Confirmation that Webber is "awake and alert". Not sure how they'd test Maldonado in these circumstances.

Great job Toyota. Down at least 50hp according to sportscar365, yet still able to hang on and challenge for the win. Akio Toyoda himself has given praise!

Akio Toyoda, President, TOYOTA Motor Corporation: “After only three years in the FIA World Endurance Championship, I’m overjoyed that TOYOTA Racing was able to win both the drivers’ and manufacturers’ World Championships this season with the TS040 HYBRID. I must express my sincere gratitude to our fans for their encouragement and our partners for their support. I would also like to say congratulations and thank you to all the drivers and racing team staff who worked so hard and closely together throughout the season. TOYOTA will use these experiences in the FIA World Endurance Championship to help revolutionize hybrid technology and to help make ever-better cars that delight people around the world.”

Didn't Webber crash at pretty much the exact same spot in the Jaguar back in 2003? I think it was Alonso that had already crashed and he pretty much plowed into him.

Scary stuff.

Same place however what you said was the other way round. Webber spun off and hit the wall littering debris across the track and Alonso came around a few seconds laterand plowed straight into one of his tyres causing him to crash heavily.

Other way around. The wheels of Webber's Jaaag were sitting on the track (with the remainder not far away) when Alonso came around at full beans. Pretty much the same spot though. YouTube link, skip to 1:00.

@hsv and @Swagger897 I hadn't seen your posts of the crash gif - sorry!

If I were in WEC I'd have it in my contract that I don't lap Ferraris. After all this time we can see it's not safe.

I just want them to go back to one of the F430's.. They look a lot better and sounded better too..

EDIT:

Or the 599, those sound better than all of them.

That's one tiny engine block... I just can't fathom how they reach the speeds they do..

If I remember, Its got those turbos feeding it some power and then of course there's that hybrid powerplant.

Also, would it be safe to assume that you just hate the Ferrari 458 regardless?

Really....?

As far as me hating the 458, that couldn't be further from the truth. Aside from the fact it tears itself apart and can burst into flames at a moments notice, it's actually a good looking car, inside and out. In fact, the sole reason as to why I purchased one in GT5 was only for a photomode pic of the tail light..

As far as racing... it's as if there is no visibility for the drivers and blind spots 358 degrees all around the car, except for immediate front and rear. They are starting to be the new 911 in terms of endurance racing almost. Anyone with wallets can drive it and the same as for crashing it.

I don't see too many accidents involving LMP1's either with the Aston's, Corvettes's, 911's, or any other GTE car for that matter. Really it all started in 2011, after McNish side swiped one, and then the other aimlessly turned into Lotterer. Then Davidson when Toyota joined, and a few in between that and now..

I'm waiting for 2015 at Le Mans when another one crashes an LMP1, regardless of at fault or not.

You asked how they reached the speeds they do and I answered. Didn't realize that was sarcasm.

As for the Ferrari crashes, I blame that on the Pro-Am Formula. If the driver standards were actually better, this idiotic rich morons wouldn't be doing as much crashing.

Did you forget something? I said "and then the other aimlessly turned into Lotterer."

If you watch the on-board and the Ti24 Doc, you'll find that he flashed the lights three times in two patterns to warn the slower car..

No biggie.. Aside 400+ hp or whatever the actual stats for the engine block alone are, I find it amazing. It's much more complex than my Taurus when everything is considered, but I just find myself asking "how??"

I would like to mention not a single GTE car has full rear view mirrors due to amount of monocoque and tubing forming the rollcage. All the cars have TV consoles to see out the back of. Now I'd be more pre occupied in all honesty with keeping my own rather expensive GT on the road.

Also @Swagger897 to point out your lack of research, the Ferrari driver involved in sundays crash said after Webber had already lost control before he hit him.
