That is some lightweight badass-ness right there. Who makes those?

Something very interesting I found, referring to the GTE debate. This is the C7R at Daytona this year, video should start at 6:00 mark. If not go there. Note GPS style pointers in the TV screen and arrows (much like GT6 proximity indicators).

That's not new technology...that's been there since the C6.R GT2 car...

Where did he say it was? He was just pointing out the proximity indicators (which is something I don't believe anyone else has at the moment) and found them interesting.

I think the first iteration of this system was shown on a screen in place of the side mirror. I believe the arrows change color depending on whether the car it is indicating is closing or receding from your position as well. It looks like some really cool tech. I said back then that I was surprised that such a system hadn't been made mandatory, at least in any kind of multi-class racing series. Seems like it would be a good idea and may very well prevent a few accidents.

It is really odd that it hasn't caught on, you'd think in a era where safety has really become a top priority that many teams would adopt this idea after all these insane crashes we've had.

Is there a chance that the 20 car had an onboard camera? Maybe we could get a better idea of what happened.

Agreed. Doesn't the 'Vettes have a radar system to measure upcoming and/or approaching other vehicles speed aswell?

Andrew Davis is Silver for instance. Not to mention Boris Said is now a Silver

Ah, you'd just posted the link with no explanation, makes a little more sense now. So, to try to teasle a little more from you... what's your problem with those particular ratings (full PDF list here, you should have included that perhaps)?

Do you have details of those driver's appeals?

Considering Davis and Said have been making a living off of racing professionally, it makes zero sense as to why an appeal was accepted making them Silver. Ozz Negri is another one that's pretty questionable although there's an age limit or something apparently thus making the system make even less sense.

Another beef totally beyond that is there are a lot of drivers that have raced in endurance races for teams, yet they have no rating. Ex. Scott Dixon, Justin Wilson, etc.

Are you saying they were upgraded, downgraded, what?

And how is it questionable, it really would be helpful if you were a little more clear about what you're questioning :)

You should contact those drivers specifically; that was presumably their decision and not that of the FIA.

EDIT: Wilson holds/has held a superlicence and Dixon's of a similar category. On application they'd be auto-platinum. Still up to them to apply for the rating if they want one.

Perfect time to showcase a new product
My thoughts were on the new Titan since it debuts at Detroit in January, but the helmet in that photo says otherwise. But it's a 60 second spot, so it could be a number of things. (new Maxima is to debut in February)

Yes it did have an onboard camera. No footage of what happened from the start of the accident has been shown.
