The Le Mans General Discussion Thread

[sarcasm]I know. Its almost as if its not finished.[/sarcasm]

We now have a motor originally designed for F1, in a 'Le Mans' car, and a motor originally designed for 'Le Mans' in a road car, built by a manufacturer who also builds F1 cars. Quite Interesting.

Pipe rumours. Didn't know Nissan built F1 cars either, I missed that memo?

Sorry poor formatting on my part. I was referencing the 'Nissan' powered McLaren road cars.
No worries.

I heard rumours of a Honda LM project myself, but that it was pretty much a "hey what if we ever did this" idea before the F1 deal was confirmed with McLaren.

My understanding was that was more of a Japan blessed HPD project, that ending up not going anywhere.

Makes you wonder where we would be if McLaren had purchased Cosworth a few years ago. Sounds like we are veering off topic, but we are not.

When the RRA of $8 or whatever silly figure it was was being floated, the question was what to do with the the rest of your budget, and LM P1 seemed to be the answer everyone was coming up with, lots of carry over.

Not really you haven't contributed anything meaningful to the thread, all your posts seem rather fanboi-ish and then when you try to post something about the car someone who actually works at the test centre has to correct you.
I'm sorry you're upset with me, and when have I been corrected? If you have an issue with me I am sorry. Good day to you.

I've said this in PM Fortbo, you aren't the exclusive oracle of information. Chill out.

Are you expecting him to post full specs of a car not revealed yet? I mean really? People lose their jobs for leaking information about cars not revealed yet. So...

Michael Fuller is funny, this was written before the most recent and more detailed photos surfaced:

mulsannescorner.com
Nissan has choreographed the release of two extraordinarily poor 1995 cell phone images of the GT-R LM testing at the Circuit Of The Americas (they can be seen in various forum and on Facebook). Taken with a pinhole camera (or etched on a rock, I can't decide), we can see what can only be described as a blob, or an amoeba, as seen from 2 miles away. However, the image seems to confirm that the blob is red, and perhaps white, and probably front engined. If you squint that is. Furthermore, given the much higher downforce nature of COTA than Le Mans, a rear wing blob can be seen (no surprise there, ultra low-drag only has a chance at LM) at the rear of the main blob. Maybe. Identifying any more details beyond that would be a supreme leap of faith, though I'm pretty sure that's Winston Churhill's profile there in the middle. Yes Darren Cox, I wrote 150 words about an indescribably ****** photo (no offense meant to the photographer of course). You're welcome.

Are you implying that the car won't be able to do without the rear wing, like the Deltawing did? Fuller wrote previously that there was this rumour about the car being able to perform at Le Mans without a rear wing.

so no one has anything else other then the Nissan LMPanoz-07 Hybride speculation??

My only speculation is that Nissan will some how stuff it up by blocking off their exhaust manifolds in half like their road cars, where I used to work any Nissan that came in for a service that was the first thing we looked at, a few minor changes and the cars economy would go through the roof!

Nope, just saying it's been on the car the whole time.

My speculation is it's FWD! You wouldent have a prop shaft going thou the monocock would you? Surely it would be easier just to do the oposit of a normal min engined car by turning the hole drive train around?

Speculation here: what if it has an engine in the front for the front wheels, and it has an engine stuffed in the rear for the rear wheels? Is that even legal? And no you can't have what I'm hypothetically smoking :P

Perhaps its traditional engine in the front, supplemented by electric motor/s at the back?
