Tower Turn 13
Shouldn't all LMPs have huge windscreens, considering the low visibility that causes crashes?

The tall wheel wells cause the low visibility, not the windscreen.

I think they need to move the drivers farther forward, like the old Porsche cars. There is nothing that can be done about the wheel wells. They are simply too tall and cut off too much of the drivers vision from the angle that they are viewing from

Too far forward and you put a greater risk on the drivers in the event of a head-on collision.

And it certainly wouldnt help the aero one bit.

I know that. Hut I can't think of any other way to solve the visibility issue

Would anyone happen to know if there's a live stream of the six hours at Donington for us North Americans?

The yellow one is nice, the other one is to plain Jane. I still would like to see them come back with the classic red with White racing stripes. Looking forward to it's debut, can't see it finishing to well to start off, but wait until the the full 2013 season. I just wish the ALMS would gain some more entries (2008 season anyone? Yummy)

As a Viper fan and Dodge/Mopar guy. I'm glad that the Viper is coming back to it's main forte: Racing.

This gen serpent is gonna unleash it's venom on the ALMS this year. I wish they would do the traditional colors of blue and white or red and white for the cars, a great tribute to the GTS-R of the 90's.

Agreed! 👍 so excited to see it back

I still dont know why Viper gets to bend the rules by 2000 cc's...

Because they bring exactly what the sport need wich is new manufacturers and factory teams into the series. Agreed it may seem unfair but I trust the sanctioning bodies can make it work.

They could have kept everyone happy and put in a smaller V8 from the Charger or the Challenger...

Heck. Then they could have had an Entry-Level model.

But then it was would sorta be against the rules because if I'm not mistaken, the car has to have the very same production based engine as the road car (Part of the Homoligation rules if I recall).

Yeah. Like I said, do an Entry-level model with the smaller engine. Then homologate it.

You know, as much as I like the idea of a big V10 engine the american manufacturers need to look into smaller displacement more efficient engines. I've never seen the point of a 10 liter engine producing just 500HP to me that's just poor engineering.

I'm sure the engineers at Dodge wanted more than 600 horses out of that v10 and can probably extract close to a thousand, but ultimately management and the EPA get their say in the matter. Besides, there's going to be plenty of aftermarket goodies to boost that power up.

The advantage to large dispacement is a massive amount of torque, usually. And they're bending the rules by 2500cc, the rule is 5.5L. Which must piss off Corvette mightily as they are forced to sleeve their cars to 5.5L. And I have to agree with Jav that it's merely a play for more manufacturers. Which may or may not work out.

They are probably gonna add bigger restrictors or more weight to the car to balance it out. Besides we haven't seen it in action yet in an actual race. Who knows, maybe the car will be crud on race day.

I'm sure that they'll over-restrict it at the first race. Because if they dont do enough, and it come out and spanks everyone, then there is going to be some explaining to be done by IMSA.

I cant see the car being a contender. That V10 pretty much ruins any sort of weight balance they would have, especially at only 450 hp

I'm expecting the car to evolve pretty quickly and be a challenger in 2013, Dodge went the best route by partnering with Riley Technologies for this project, they do know how to develop a chasis so I'll be tunning in to the Mid Ohio race!
