The Lion's Den - California Now Released

Hey holden if u will have some time would you like to check some tunes for skyline Nur for 600pp? Would apperciate that, one of my favorite cars =]

Wait a second, you're a Finn? Heh, back in GT4, the first garage ever really opened was Mad Finn Tuners, done by 2 Finns. Greycap and Leonidae, and I imagine they will open another garage come the full GT5. They're immensely popular. Anyway, trivia/tuning history time over. I could look into that, I think 600 PP will become popular soon for GTP'ers thanks to the wide range of sexy wheels available to drive there. As I'm being really lenient on the rules in GT5:P, I'll let you decide whether or not your praise/comments on the Lancia Delta was a review. If you consider it to be, I'll take that as an official request and begin tuning it when get the chance.👍

Edit: Fun talking to you guys, I really ought to have been in bed an hour or 2 ago though. See yas later, g'night.:)

Tried out the TLD Tuned Vette yesterday. Went from a car that was completely out of control with nothing but wheelspin and ludicrous amounts of oversteer and was completely tamed into something that you can corner with, apply throttle on exit, and not have to worry about spinning out on long sweeping turns. Great tune. Loved it around Suzuka. Still quite a handful though. Not as forgiving as the Evo. Online, with the regular bump and grind that happens, I might have to give it up. Going to try it out a bit more, and instead of trying to really fight for position early on, just apply the heat constantly through the race and pass in the straights instead of the corners....which is where this beast really comes alive.

I might do a Tii, but it would be on R3 tyres, and tuned for 600 PP probably. (I suck at RWD and sports tyres, not the tuning, the driving). Do a review for me of one of my cars and I'll do it exactly as you like, S2 tyres, time trial mode. (ABS on 1 would be OK?)

Hey holden, thats cool, abs on 1 is perfect. I will definitely try out one of your cars and give you a review of it.

I actually tested your 750PP Corvette settings, and I'm pleasently surprised! Naturally I modified a few things, like tire type, power, weight, etc., to suit my own personal style, but it's still a very solid tune. I can really drive the hell out of the car now, instead of being on edge constantly worried about it. Nice work Holden!

On the Integrale:

Changed the 1+ HP and reduced final gear to a topspeed of 215 👍 , I managed a 2.29.6xx in Practice (Online mode). There is still room for improvement but I currently ran out of time and out of track :sly:

- acceleration improves
- never below 3th gear through the corners, except the 180 hairpin
- 130R is flatout

hadn't had a chance to test the Alfa....

Nice work again my friend.👍

I took a few online races today with your set up and really enjoyed the car. It really ripped around Suzuka.

The gears!👍👍 Usually when people post car stats, i am partial on their gear set up for my driving style. I did not have one problem with how you had your gears set up. It was all the power I needed on every turn. Great job. I started on the S2000 tune on Tuesday for PP700 before they came out with the update. I just could not get the gears where I liked them.... I guess I also didn't have as much time as I wanted because my dogs kept jumping on me while I was racing so I had to end the night earlier than I wanted.:ouch:

I like what you did with the suspension. That car has a lot of oversteer when you get it off the lot and I spent most of my time taking that under control when i was doing the set up for the PP700 races. I really like what you did. I wasn't sure when I saw the ride hight but it really turned out nice. There is still a little loss of the back tires around the big long turns on Suzuka so I started messing around with the Toe. If I can get the grip I want I will post what I did different. I do however like the improved grip out of the corner. Now I was racing on S2 before so I am sure it is the improvement of the tires plus your suspension. However, I found my self having to let off the gas when I first got the car on a lot of corners with my "work in progress" PP700 setup. Now it sticks really well which lets me get a jump on the dude in front of me.

Here's to another good tune!

Actually i'm Pole but I live in here =) I'm waiting for it!

Ah OK. And I'll try that R34 setup you sent me too, see how good it is. Of course, if I help you improve your setup it won't be posted here, because it wouldn't be my setup :sly:

Cool, thanks for the review. Sitting around in corners is probably wise in it. You can take them under brakes and on straights, but in the corners just keep the pressure on and it will work fine. I've won a number of races in that beast.:)

What about slipstreaming? You didn't fin you were topping out in someone's slipstream? Don't know where 130R is, but if it's the left hander in the back straight, the Lancia can indeed take it flat out. So can a couple other of my cars.;)

Thanks for the review.👍 Feel free to make more toe-in on the rear if you want more stability. During tuning I thought it was beginning to understeer a bit too much, so for the general public I kept a low value toe-in. That S2000 is just as fast as my Corvette, but don't expect to see me racing it, I don't lik it much. Performs fine, looks dodgy to me.:) Personal taste.;)

Hey my friend,

Your doing some great work here. I have driven a few of your tunes and they are sensational.

i'd like to propose a tuners challenge if your keen ?
I dont consider myself the best of drivers (not shabby but not the fastest man out there....) but would see something along the lines of:
We have a qualifying period where you and I release a base / standard tune vehicle of identical specs. This car is used to qualify and we then take the top 4 /6/8/ 10 times (and include a cut off) so we get an equal level among all the top qualifiers.

We then
A)each submit a custom tune of the same vehicle to all the drivers and they submit their best times in each car.
or
B) Each driver only races for a certain tuning garage and thus only gets to race that tune and submit a their best time..

Either way works for me.. your thoughts ?

So you mean getting some other drivers to do some racing? This would require a new thread I think, and past Tuner Challenges in GT4 have had difficulty finding these "judges". I think it should be a 500 PP event. Alternatively you and I could just have a race together some time using the same car.;) But othwerwise I'm up for it. No Integras. They feel so characterless when I drive them.

Edit: Thanks for the comment too, I can't find where your tunes are to drive them.

You'll find a tune to play with in your PM's :)

500 works for me, lets pick a car... though im racing now in Intermediate 700 Suzuka if youd like to play :)

I don't get the Integrale above 210 Km/H , so the limit to 215 is actually just fine. You have some more acceleration up to 5th gear or maybe I'm just dreaming and want it to be so fast :):):)

Did you try that setting?

Oh and the 130R = Back straight fast lefthander 👍

Kind regards,
Galgospeed

ps: Try to get a video on the Integrale this evening!

Id like to make another car request, but I feel that I havent properly reviewed the XK, so here goes:

TLD Jaguar XK

First of all, gearing, as with most of your tunes it seems, is perfect. Easily adapatable to other courses and a great balance of torque in the lower gears, especially helping the XK's tendencey to wheel spin at low speed. Having raced it online a fair bit now, it goes like a dart into corners! Point the car at the apex, balance the throttle, and this car will go faster than almost every car in its class! Even when matched against a decent opponent in another XK, I was able to gain a lead of over 7 seconds, this car is brilliant.
I thought it was great before, when i used to race it in the old 650PP and beat Tuned Elise's and F40's but now its in a different dimension entirely.

Being a now experienced driver of the XK on GT5P, Im amazed to find that the TLD XK is able to get up to 10mph more out of the corners than my own tune.

Pros: Gearing, as usual with TLD is excellent. Brakes, handling, acceleration, stability, torque....everything is vastly improved all at the cost of a little high end speed, a generous trade methinks.

Cons: Unfortunately, the gearing left as it is means the XK can top out 6th gear when slipstreaming, however, because of the way the gears have been set up, its very easy to adjust for higher end speed.

Final verdict: 10/10 - its has to be, I couldnt be more impressed with a tune, especially on a car I thought I had perfected. Clearly, I think I have some things to learn. Ive already learnt a bit from testing out the TLD tunes, I think Im getting the hang of gearing now, so thats another plus point. 👍

The car request is a DB9, unfortunately right now though, there are no PP650 or 700 events, but for the tune I'd like it for PP650.

I went to work this arvo, so sorry I didn't get that race memo. Plus I don't have a Z06 tuned for standard yet so I avoid 700 PP atm. Pick a car eh? How about the Suzuki Swift Sport. Horridly ugly, and scarily slow. Let's see if either of us can make it into a champion, and who's will be the better champion. (I get a new job next week, that secret job I mentioned, so I will have nights off from now on). My home town eh? I hope you checked out all the beaches, cause that's all we have.

I got GTA IV today, so I'm just about to try it now. Also job interviews ate some time.

Edit: Didn't notice much difference in outright accleration, but it puts it in better gears for some corners I think, and shorter gears can't normally hurt in an AWD car, so setup update with a Final Ratio of 3.920. :) Thanks for the tip. I'm in the 2'30s with it you speed demon :sly:

Wow, you really love that tune :sly: Well I'll see what I can do on the DB9. :) I had a tune already, tuned for almost 700 PP. Great handling, a bit less power and it should be ace.

I got GTA IV today, so I'm just about to try it now.
Hope you don't get addicted to GTA IV like I did, now I need to share the little spare time I have between these two games. ;) I'm still wondering if humans really need sleep; wastes a perfectly good eight hours of pure gametime! :P

"I'm still wondering if humans really need sleep; wastes a perfectly good eight hours of pure gametime!"

Ahahha that's true! :DD

The Lancia Delta Integrale TLD just had its first victory!!!! I had one race with only GTRP members. Tried..tried...was brave but they were to fast!...:sly:

4 days in a mansion on Sovereign Island was nice :)

Swift ?? I usually like the high end stuff, but happy to give it a crack.. :)

That's what I'm thinking, stupid sleep. I will focus on keeping up with my tune shop here, and then play GTA IV, and have some online racing every now and then.

W00t, good work.:dopey: I had a win in it once, against another Delta.:P 1-on-1 battle and I kept having to stop and let him catch up.

Well I've tuned mine last night already now. Ended up on 499 PP, and it's actually quite reasonably fast. Lacks just a tiny bit of straight line speed.

sweet car to challenge on.
I would be happy to review both... but I shouldn't be a judge. I am not the A1 driver some of these people are.

Go for it anyway 👍 If you don't be biased towards your own garage.;)

Well I don't think anyone will be lacking drivers but I'm a loyal TLD racer, I'm not the fastest but i tend to be consistent so I'll volunteer for the challenge of the tune shops. :D

There we go, that's 2 drivers now.:) Now I'm off for the moment to tune a TVR Tamora as requested.

Edit: BTW Apollo87, I'm honoured you should say you are a loyal TLD racer.:embarrassed:

Hey man I still give you props. anyways i don't want to be a judge. I am not a good enough racer in my eyes. for sure I understand your comment but trust me I would be honest with my feedback. I will even hold off on posting it until after the real judges claim a winner.... or PM the results. Anyways can't wait to drive the tune off cars.
