GT4 force feedback seems weak...

I've also been thinking that the feedback is a little on the tame side compared to the GT Force wheel, I am playing in 900 mode at the moment but didn't expect it to be such a hit on the FF, I haven't tried switching the wheel back to 200 degree mode yet, something to play with tomorrow :)

GT4 force feedback is not weak - maybe you're using the wheel in 60% force feedback mode.

The Legacy Mode is 180 degrees, not 200.

The screen bouncing was a problem in GT3 as well. I have the PAL GT4 but have only been able to LAN it with the NTSC J version so can't comment whether this is addressed yet.

The feedback is pretty good for me when playing GT3. But when I play GT4 it feels tame. It is on 100% and everything. Is this because I play GT3 on 200 degree? And GT4 on 900 degrees? For a moment I played GT4 on 200 degree mode and the FF was pretty strong. I dont know if I am getting the right amount of Force Feedback on GT4 on 900 degree mode. I wish one of you could come over my house, play my game with my DFP, and tell me if its normal.

Is GT3 supposed to be harder to turn than GT4?

I am so confused. I feel like I am missing out on GT4. Please help.

Thanks.

the steering response is much more realistic than gt3, but maybe a bit too responsive at times. thats just because i think the physics have been softened a bit so gt3 fans werent turned off by too much realism.

The FFB is detailed enough to drive well and intuitively. In real life you can make changes to the geometry to make steering heavier or lighter, but they left that out of gt4.. but you can still feel the wheel is lighter for some cars and heavier for others. :)

gt3 was really unrealistic when using 900 mode.

But should I feel more force feedback in 200 drgree mode than 900 degree mode?

It feels to easy to turn in GT4. The wheel does no fight for the center. Should it fight for the center?

Is there something wrong with my DFP?

i think its supposed to be like this. I've watched videos of people testing out gt4 and the FFB seems to be the same strength for them in 900 mode. On PC games you can make it much stronger, but theres no way I can think of to do that on the PS2. FFB strength seems adequate most of the time. In live for speed, you can turn the FFB up so the wheel spins much faster so drifting is easier. and the wheel shakes my whole desk when i Drive over rumble strips. but not as strong in gt4. :)

Just a quick question, I live in the UK & am planning to get one of these wheels. However i am unable to buy Online, Is there any high street shop i can buy one form, i've tried the most common (Argos/Dixons/Curry's Etc...) with no luck thusfar, i live in the west midlands, can anyone help???

The Driving force and DFP are in stores in america, so they should be in UK and the rest of europe since there is a big gamer community there. Somebody from England got an answer?

I ended up taking back my DFP yesterday in order to have more money to spend on my HDTV, 27Inch Samsung..omg its crystal. I miss the DFP...alot, The responce, the fun in racing, DS is nice but nothing will ever compare to DFP to me Never.

BUT since im playing in 1080i Im happy  :D

i im using my old 25inch tv in 480i to play gt4 on my PC desk since i dont have a stand or cockpit.. we have a widescreen hdtv, but i havent gotten a stand yet. or the stuff you need to actually use HDTV.. all you need are component cords, right?

Hey gabkicks, you have any videos of people usin the DFP on GT4? I want to see how theres is compared to mine. If you do, can you plaese share them?

Thanks.

I recommend using the Logitech Driving Force(the blue one) with GT4, it works 100x better with GT4 then it did with GT3, believe me.

To everyone who has a DFP wheel I am thinking of buying the one, could you let me know when uou set the wheel in 200 degree mode does the wheel lock at 200 or keep rotating to 900.

It has stop's that prevents it from turning beyond 200*.

I have read a lot about DFP technical problems...should I cancel my order for it?

No, I felt the same when I was getting my DFP, I am really glad I got it now, Ive had no problems at all.

Ok, just had to throw my 2 cents in.

The DFP absolutley rocks. It took me a while to get used to it, and I've discovered that I do better by shifting with the paddles and using left foot braking. But holy cow this thing is an absolute blast to play.

One thing though: how do I know if the wheel is at 100% FF? Where in options do I find this?

w00t Just got my DFP II or whatever the new one is..

At first, I was doing terrible, running 30ish sec behind the lead person, took some time to get used to it, finally I realized you really have to man-handle this thing. Can't be gentle. Hopefully it can take all the beating.

Anyways my only complaint, when wearing shoes (which I def prefer) sometimes I'll hit both the gas and the brake at the same time, which really is annoying. I guess I can't feel the difference between the two peddles too much while using it, vs my real car where I can def tell the difference. Maybe I just am not used to it yet, but hopefully I'll get better with that over time. Oh and the fact it keeps slowly moving away, I have 2 pairs of shoes, and a CD case in it's way, hopefully this will stop it from moving more. I really need to build myself a ****-pit, but living in an apartment is hard without a garage. Guess I'll be spending more time in dad's workshop hehehe. Too bad that's 2 hours away.

Oh well, I'm happy.

GT4 + DFP II + 5.1 + Projector (~ 12' screen) = Nirvana

The only chance of finding one on a high street is in an independant games shop and even then you may have to ask to have one ordered. The other option is to give logitech a call to see if you can place a phone order but then you would end up paying full retail of course.

If you check the first page of thise thread you should see the button combo for switching modes, I haven't tried it myself yet (am just about to when finished on here) but I assume that when the wheel is at 100% FF mode you will hear the wheel lock into place so the it will only turn 180 degrees...I could be wrong.

I tried all the high street stores, but just lke you, i found nothing.

In the end it was much easier to order online.

Glad i did though, it really is good!

Hi cloud78

I see that you still have problems, well, the best way to test your FF (and other settings) of your DFP is to install the latest driver on your PC and do the test there, in the wingman profiler, (this is the main screen from that driver where you can test the settings of your DFP

This is the link from 9mm to get the driver:
http://www.wingmanteam.com/files/Pa...a/LGS460ENU.exe

This is the best way to test your DFP and your pedals

Yes the wheel locks at 180° or 200° (whatever). You can't turn any further

You'll know that your DFP is at 100% FF, when you use the code "select+R3+left paddle (shifter)" and the left green LED on your DFP FLASHES TWICE!!!!!!

If you turn back to 60% FF the LED will flash only once.
