I use the left foot on the brake, just to give it something to do.

That and the pedals are so much softer than a real cars that it's much easier to keep your feet on the pedals than move them around.

All these DFP seem to have the gear stick on the right, living and driving in england the gear stick is normally on the left :P , im not used to taking my right hand off the wheel at all when I drive my car in real life, and I dont want to start now.

So my question is can I get DFP's with the gear stick on the left, or do any other wheels work with GT4 that will have the gear stick on the left?

Also, how firm is the brake pedal when being pressed, or does it not feel hard atall?

Thanks 👍

The brake is... ok for stiffness. Better than most wheels, and a fair bit stiffer than the throttle. It's not matching a real car's pedal, but you should be able to fit a soft squash ball under it if you open the base (might want to watch out for stresses placed on the pedal by said ball). It worked a treat with my old MS FF wheel.

You can't get a RHD DFP, we have the lefties here in aus too. It isn't hard to adjust to, now i don't even notice it.

There are no other wheels with sticks compatible with GT4.

I keep having the same problem but only with GT4. The brake pedals is sticking forcing my car to slowdown. I have to pause the game, unplug the pedals and replugging them again to make it works.

When I try playing GT4 on 200 degree mode the wheel shakes like crazy. Even when I hold it straight. But I do feel more force feedback(harder to turn) on 200 degree mode.

That is my theory on why GT4 has weaker force feedback. Because we play GT4 on 900 degree mode. GT3 feels stronger because we played that on 200 degree mode. That is just my theory on why GT4 Force Feedback seems weaker than GT3 force feedback. But I may be wrong.

Do you guys agree?

it aint a theory its the truth. :)

And to the post above... I'm not quite sure. In gt3, when you switched to sim mode, it made countersteering very hard. but for some reason i cant tell the difference between pro and Simulation mode. Drifting seems a bit easier with sim for me.

I was told that in gt3, sim mode the wheels turned a bit less, which is why countersteering was harder.

As this is a general DFP thread, I'm gonna post this here;
I just bought my DFP today, so I'd like some input.

Do you have experience in durability of the DFP?
Back when GT2 was new, I had several steering wheel systems, but they always broke after a couple of weeks. The biggest problem was the paddle shifters' springs on some wheel - they would just snap, and then the shifters wouldn't work again.

The DFP feels sturdy, but: Do the FF motors wear out? Do the paddle/stick springs break? Does the wheel get more loose on the center with time?

Any of you broken a DFP just by using it normally?

Do reply to this if you have any experience on this, it will help!

(I do NOT wish to replace the DFP every two weeks like I had to with some PS1 wheels!!)

Hi guys I need your help on this one

I bought a brand new Driving Force Pro wheel almost 3 weeks ago along with GT4 Prologue and the pedals started to crap out !

When you floor the accerlator pedal it is only accerlating 50%......not the full 100%. Therefore you go really really slow! You pull out that serial looking plug from the steering wheel and u plug it back in and works for like 30 seconds or 5 minutes or 20 minutes and it happens again. It was very frustrating so I took it back to the store and got a replacement.

I got the replacement and everything worked fine until today and same problem appears again! and only after a week! It is pissing me off!! :grumpy: :grumpy:

I don't abuse my things and have been gentle with it + I don't get like 3 hours straight to play video games.

I was wondering if you guys have similar problems and are there ways to fix it?
I have read some ppl have problems with the brake pedal.
I dont wanner get another replacement because I think the wheel itself is very good and I want a wheel to play GT4

Please help, it is very frustrating and I want to be ready to play GT4 when it comes out on 10th of March (I'm in Australia)

Btw this is a very cool GT site

Thank You

In your opinion what would you rate the DFP's Force Feedback with GT4?

Why is the wheel so smooth when going down a straight away? It doesnt shake at all. I thought it was supposed to be really intense. Thats what I heard. My DFP doenst shake or wobble or anything going down a straightaway. Isnt it supposed to move for bumps on the road? Is this just my DFP? Or is everyone experiancing the same thing?

hi, for the past 2 weeks i've been reading reviews and looking forward to the dfp, but i went down to the pier today and played some game called ferrari f355 challenge and i didn't like the feel or the way it played. Can someone tell me if the dfp is an improvement over this and arcade games in general?

thanks

Bump :/ So, how does the dfp compare with arcade racing wheels? i'm new to this :(

help me this time, please.

unless ur driving over bumps its not going to shake at all, if its not shaking its because the road is smoothe.

Yes, many of us are experiencing similar problems. Please read my post on page 71 (if you haven't already) as I have do some comparison tests of the exact problem you mentioned.

As long as my DFP isnt messed up, Im happy.
I have been following this thread and other DFP threads here and at other forums. Many other people have made comments similar to yours. Your DFP is not messed up. It is just the way it is designed. I also experienced exactly the same thing.

I was told that in gt3, sim mode the wheels turned a bit less, which is why countersteering was harder.

One thing everyone should remember, however, is that there is no "pro", "simulation", etc. on GT4 when using the DFP. When you go into "steering options" and move the cursor to the menu item where you can choose "pro", simulation", etc., you'll notice that it's for two other wheels, not the DFP. And while you have your cursor there, the text that scrawls across the bottom of the screen will also tell you specifically that's it's for the other two wheels, but is deactivated for the DFP.

Perhaps that is because they've already designed it to be simulation when used with GT4? Who knows, but all I know is that I'm getting so much enjoyment out of this thing.

Hmmm i just got my DFP and GT4.. Is the wheel supposed to be kinda hard to turn? It takes alot of force to turn the wheel.. is it supposed to be like this? maybe im just used to driving with loose steering wheels.. but its feels fine for about 45° then its hard to turn.. and it makes alot of noise when i turn it.. its not so bad, just wondering if its supposed to be like this

Pretty much. Check your steering options. If the power steering assist is off then you might want to turn it on to make it easier to turn. However, many prefer to leave it off because they believe it feels more realistic.

i was also wondering that...b.c its makes quite a bit of noise when i counter steer

isnt it 900 degree by default?

It is 200° degrees by default, if the game doesn't support 900°.
If the game supports 900°, then it is 900° by default. It all depends on what game (race sim) you are using

My question is: Which one should I buy?

DFP. No other wheel can deliver the same experience. Just dig up the money and buy one. Back here the cheappest price is 114€ at verkkokauppa.com

dorkempi
And do the DF's make a difference compared to the normal controller, for example when driving licencetests. (Can you get better results with the DF's?)
Yes and no. At the beginning DFP seems harder than regular DS controller, but after some practice you will be faster with DFP. Also it is WAAAYYY much more fun. However with GT3 there were some very fast drivers who played with DS, not really sure what is going to happen with GT4

doggie : prisma is sellin dfp for 110 € and i got my wheel 86€ :D so verkkokauppa is not cheapest...

3LeMeN7:your wheel is just fine it is supposed to make sound and be hard to turn...if you are too weak just change your wheel to 60% or if it still too strong take power cable out of your wheel :D

hahaa my playseat is araving any day now...
