As far as I can see so far...the answer is NO!
You can only re-map what buttons do what on the wheel itself....but no 'calibration' option found so far. (Can't beleive it wouldn't be anywhere else but under options but heck...I could be wrong! :)

Thanks for letting me know.

Well, I've bought the DFP and ...............errrgg..................I don't like what see at ALL, I mean the basis is right, but: I can't get my car straight, and the MAJOR problem is the force feedback, it doesn't feel like steady force feedback, but more like my little sister is jerking on that thing as hell on the most unexpected moments:crazy: And drifting, well forget it, with that force feedback pulling on your car, you can't get it smooth or something, no it constantly pulls VERY hard VERY fast, and just pulls you of the road if your not carefull,
On the other hand, if I turn it off (the force feedback) it's over but, then another problem emerges out of nowhere, cause I can't get a smooth racing line AT ALL

I thought the circuit wich shouldn't have this problem was the test cours in GT3, well even then the steering wheel loosens up very quickly so that you are forced to steer even less, and while your changing that steering of you it suddenly jerks back with enough force to get me in the railing!!!!!!!!! I'm getting SSSSSOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO frustrated about this, is there any setting that helps this getting over with, cause I thought it to be some improvement in something like smoothenes, but it feels like you must hold on to someone that's being killed, a pull here, a pull there, just to escape or something

For all the ones that are still wondering if they'll buy the DFP, buy it when you have GT4, and MAKE SURE YOU CAN BRING IT BACK TO A SHOP TO GET YOUR MONEY BACK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I REPEAT THIS IS NO ISSUE OF THAT I MUST GET USED TO IT A BIT, IT JUST FEELS LIKE CRAP!!!!!!!

You sir need practice, the way your driving with the wheel is the way i drive with the controller in GT4, ask anyone that i have raced online on the ring. My line was amazing and the control was perfect. What you fail to realize you don't have to pull the steering wheel hard, you have to gentle, and as for the drifting your not soposed to force counter steer, let the wheels force feedback counter and from there you just adjust the throttle and steering accordingly. It's dynamics of the car. Out of all my races the most challenging was the one against a guy (Gravity) who was useing the DFP i had a M3 and he had a STi we were neck and neck with an extremely clean race on the ring i won by .103 seocnds.

But to each his own if the DFP sucks that bad to you then enjoy the controller. :)

If you wish i can even make you a video of me driving and show you that all the things you pointed out are in fact wrong and everything can be controlled.

One question do you drive a real car? and if so have you ever been to a road course?

the force feedback on my DFP isn't quite as strong as i was expecting. after playing the GTR demo with the feedback all the way up GT4 feels pretty weak. does anyone know if GT4 defaults to the strongest feedback? i've gone through the options and couldn't find anything, just put the wheel on simulation mode and didn't notice too much difference.

Quick question:
What are the chances of the DFP being compatible with the next Playstation?
Considering that I play most of my racing games on my XBOX, these seems like a steep investment for the one racing game I play on my PS2. If I thought it may work with the PS3 and any future GT releases, I would be able to feel better about a purchase.

I know no one here can speak on the DFP's possible compatibilty with the PS3, but I am interested on what you all think.

I'm pretty sure there was an option for force feedback strength in one of the wheel option sections.

The DFP is ON SALE this week at Best Buy (Canada) for C$149.99 (regular price is $199.99)!!! I just picked one up for myself.

I think PD & Sony would be setting themselves up for a disaster if the PS3 (and GT5) didn't support the DFP, especially if the PS3 will play PS2 games. I just don't think they'd do that.

I also think it's funny how many people leave the goofy warning label (my avatar) on their wheel! Mine got pulled off as soon as I saw it, ugh... :)

Yeah, ~$150CDN seems to be the average price for many places. I just posted a few online prices here a couple pages back. That $199 is the list price, but some places (my local EB) seem to be charging that instead. 👎

Does anyone know of any other games compatible with the DFP?

I tried a couple games last night to see if I could use my DFP with them. Games tried were:

GT4
GT3
GTA-San Andreas
True Crime-Streets of LA

And to my surprise only GT4 and GT3 worked. I could have swore I read in a previous thread that someone had used their DFP to play driving games such as Grand Theft Auto, Driver etc….. but when I tired it didn't work. Does anyone know if the DFP is compatible with any games other than Grand Turismo? It seems like such a pricey item for something that can only be used with one game.

i just this second got my dfp, im using it with gt3 prologue, and well its not great, is it any different with gt4? and also once configurated at the start in locks the wheel up 2 200 degree mode even when its switched off is there any way of turning it back to 900 degree mode when switched off

Read the very first post (from Darin) on the very first page of the thread!!!!

If you mean it like "JUST posting a vid." I would appreciate it, but however, how do I react to when the wheel SUDDENLY go's his own way, I think I just have to keep it in place, or is that wrong(probably is but what else)?? And....no I don't drive a real car, and if this is a bit like driving a car..............well I NEVER drive a car in my life:scared:
Maybe it's gotta do with 900 degree mode, cause it works well with NFSU2 supporting it:tup: But I rented that game from a library, so I can't keep that game.........it's pretty solid there, but in GT3 it just pulls me of the road........I'll try it again, see what happens after playing NFSU2..........

PS. I've only driven karts that went at 70km per hour!!! VERY COOL:cool:

santapod123
yeah when do i do that " select r3 right paddle" during gameplay or like in the menu

When I am "playing" GTR and I switch between 200° and 900° during the game it triggers other actions, like shifting gear. It is best that you switch before you start a new game

I would love to see videos of someone using this wheel. i've gone back 12 or so pages and i wasn't able to see any (safe to assume there wont be any gt4 past that). if you can upload some or point me in the right direction that would be great :)

Well I got the Japanese GT4 and have connected the DFP wheel to the ECCI 6000 Pedals and the Ash Design GT2 seat frame.

Here's what it looks like.

I have to say the ecci pedals are awesome - they provide excellent service. The GT2 frame is very good but service from Ash Design was cr*p.

Can someone double confirm to me that DFP is compatible with Grand Prix Legends and GTR? Is there a thread you can point me to as these threads are getting so large it's hard to find some answers

Thanks
Jon B

I have owned a DFP, for a while now and have played GT3 with it with no Problems. When I got GT4 it was working really well, the 900 * was a lot better . Then yesterday I was playing with it, and in the middle of the race the gas pedal suddenly becomes very unresponsive. I thought it was just a connection loose, but I checked them all dozens of time and restarted it and tryed it at least five times. The problem is when you're racing you'll floor it, but the car wont accelarate fully- the little blue throttle metre only goes up like 3/4 the way, then you'll take you're foot off the gas and the car will still accelarate for a little while. The thing is the brake pedal works perfectly fine and so was the gas pedal before yesterday. I'm wondering if there any replacement pedals for the DFP? because i think the warranty might be up (purchased in aug 04) does any one else have this problem? thanks.

Tested my DFP with the GTR Demo and works just fine. Will probarly work with most games since it is detected as a standard wheel in winxp

NOOO PROBLEM ANYMORE, NO AT ALL, just had to get VERY used to it, no prob. so ignore what I said about that you must be able to get your money back if you buy DFP, it's just AWSOME!!!!!!!!

I too noticed that a lot of online retailers are selling it for ~$150, BUT I have not found any store selling it for that price (until today at BestBuy).

You see, I have the original Driving Force (non-pro) and I don't know if I need to upgrade to the DFP. So, I want to buy from a store that is easy to refund if necessary. As far as I know, C$150 is the lowest recent price for those not wanting to shop online. Grab it while supplies last!

I just got DFP today, have played with it for a few hours and im learning fast, but i still drive better with controller :) . BUT! its much more fun with steerwheel, too bad i dont have GT4 yet (EU) but i have prolouge so im practice on it. Ive never played for so long time on prolouge as i do right now.

I dont regret i bought the wheel, its just great, awesome. 👍

...you better wait until BRD releases their professional multi turn wheel, the speed7!
Will be only compatible with your PC unless the guys from BRD keep their word and make it also compatible with the PS2 AND Xbox.

Though the look of the wheel, in rough sketch form as of right now, is cool...
Early indications from their US distributor, Trinity Racing, is that it's going to cost A LOT OF MONEY...and I'm talking close to 4-digits....$x,xxx...but if it is going to be compatible w/the PS2 (Xbox would be nice but I doubt it for now) only those true racing freaks, (like myself :)) are going to fork over that much money....

Funny you mentioned this. There is a new wheel coming out soon from Fanatec called the Speedster 3 wheel. It's supposed to be the first quality FF wheel that works with it. I am thinking about buying it and having someone gut it, take the PCB out and installing it inside a happ FF wheel. 👍

Has anyone noticed a small dead spot when the wheel is at center position? Although the car in game responds in this area the force feedback does not and in this area the wheel moves free back and forth with no resistance. It is just a little annoying but at least the game responds to this movement. It would just be nice if it were tight in the center as it is throughout to the left or right.

Also what does the option "Reverse Forces" do exactly? does it just reverse the feedback forces, it doesn't seem to.
